Travel Went to a well reviewed dispensary, think I got laced
I’ve been on a break from weed for about a week or so now, but I very much know the feeling and how long that feeling lasts and everything about it. So I went to a legal dispensary to try and buy some, which of course they overpriced the ever living shit out of it (probably just cause I’m a tourist) and I went upstairs to smoke the pre roll they gave me. Already immediately I felt a little “too high” but I’ve done worse drugs so I kept my cool. I started to feel super paranoid and anxious like I was on something else about 30 minutes later and about 8 hours later I still felt a super weird body high that didn’t go away and I didn’t have the classic wanting to sleep body high. Just kind of disassociated and tweaking. I figured since I overpaid so much that it must’ve been the real deal and not some weird garbage spiked weed but idk I don’t think I’ll trust any weed source on this island anymore. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a high like that in my life and any joint I’ve had back in the states would last maybe an hour or two at most but with much less severe affects. I’m just wondering how commonly weed here is laced or spiked with anything and if the legal dispensary’s are actually to be trusted.

Laced or spiked with what?
How would it serve the dispensary to intentionally lace their joints (with what?) and sell to unsuspecting customers?
Why would they risk losing their license?
I cant help but assume that if it were indeed laced, again I can't imagine with what, that was a one-off and unintentional.

So you think it’s common practice in Jamaica to lace weed? Why would any business want to deliberately damage their reputation? It sounds like you greened out on some high grade sensi after going on a tbreak.

You took a Tbreak then got very high quality sativa. Watch your surroundings and take 1-2 hits then easy next time. Dispensaries down here don't fuck around when big money spend

This is exactly what I was thinking. Dude got sativa and got completely blazed. Literally explains everything he described lol

A lot of good observations on here regarding tolerance break, medical vs. non-medical, etc.
What I have experienced - from Californian weed to Jamaican weed - Jamaican weed hits different.
Last time I visited the Yard, I, too, bought some dispensary weed. Just opening the container made our hotel smell like a growery. I rolled my own joints, only used the weed bought, and still had one of the strongest, longest highs of my life. My fingers would be sticky and green after touching it.
Literally 3 months prior, I smoked in Cali from a Cali dispensary. I bought some pre-rolls which had hash in the flower and the outside was covered in keif. It was a strong high, but nothing compared to what I got in Jamaica.
The soil and environment there definitely has an effect on the potency. I also think there may be ways of curing and cultivating it at harvest that is a lot different. The flower I bought in Cali was definitely for looks. It was dry when broken down. Although it had a ridiculous amount of trichromes all over it, it was not anywhere near as potent in smell, stickiness, or smoke as the Jamaican stuff which, at first glance of the flower, had me disappointed a little until I touched it and smoked it.
I don’t know how else to say it in that than Weed for the States seems bred more for show/flashiness/awe rather than actual potency and medicinal use. Such American.

Wait, are you saying you buy dry weed in America?!
Because if that’s the case, of course there is a difference. If you ever smoke weed that’s sticky and let that same bud dry out, it will be worse

Not “dry weed” per se. Just that the quality of “stickiness” is so different. American weed, even the most sticky, is qualitatively dryer than what I experienced with Jamaican weed. It also actively dries out faster.

Marijuana sold at dispensaries is specifically bred to have extremely high levels of THC. If you look at the package you can see what the tested percentage is. It’s called medicine for a reason.
If you took a tolerance break and went right into smoking your usual amount, it’s possible you just smoked too much and greened out.
Tweaking/ greening out is common in people who: are sensitive to THC, are using products with high percentage of THC & low CBD (Google- entourage effect), and ppl who struggle with anxiety. Probably more causes.
Everyone’s body is different and many factors can play into how a substance affects your body.
