Discussion What do you guys do with your egg whites?
After you make challah, what do you do with the leftover egg whites? I want to start making my own but I can’t think of what to do with the egg whites and it would seem so wasteful to throw them away.

I used to fry it for our dog. She was such a good girl.

I use the whole egg for my challah so I don’t have leftovers.

With how expensive eggs are right now, scramble them and make an egg sandwich on the challah that you’re baking

Do you like cocktails? There's a few that use egg whites. A "white lady" uses gin, orange liqueur, lemon juice, and a raw egg white. It makes this nice, light foam that feels cool to drink and it makes you look fancy.
Or make an egg white omelette.
You can save the egg white in the fridge for a few days (up to 4 according to Google). So no pressure to use it right that moment. You can have a nice cocktail on Shabbat or add it into your omelette on Sunday morning.

I like making mayo with only egg whites - you just need lemon and oil (and seasoning). https://www.seriouseats.com/leftover-egg-white-mayonnaise-recipe

I just give them to the dogs without cooking. They don't seem to care.

It can tamper with nutriente absorption so it's better to cook it. At least with puppies that could be the case.

Can be super bad for them, you should always cook egg whites but they can have raw yolk

Loads of things, keep them in the freezer until you have enough for one of these recipes; https://www.seriouseats.com/what-to-do-with-leftover-egg-whites

I notice you can dry it in the refrigerator so you could add it later to something else. It's like using the egg shells in soup, they clarify broths!

Meringue cookies all the time. I don't like them ultra sweet so I do 8 egg whites to 1 cup sugar. 3 hrs at 220.

My family would always make meringues during Pesach, but you can make them during the rest of the year as well.

Fry them. I used eat around egg yolks when mom would fry them. You could scramble them too.

Never separated my eggs for my Challahs. Comes out light, fluffy and delicious. Never lasts the night. So good.

When I make a recipe that requires just a yolk, I sometimes fry up the egg white. Or sometimes you can just use the whole egg anyway in the recipe.

Egg white is supposed to be good for your hair, I think. And if memory serves, it was at one point used in making paint.
For more everyday solutions, you might consider glazing the top of the challah (if you're not already), DIY egg drop soup, macarons, marshmallows...

My recipe uses two whole eggs, one yolk, and the extra white for the egg wash.

I make challah without egg yolks. I simply use whole eggs. Four for the challah and one for brushing mixed with water. Works perfect and wastes less.

My mother fills up a container in the freezer, which is the exact right size to then be thawed and made into an angel food cake
