Avoid Kirkland Premier Dentistry
Be sure to check the Yelp reviews. I had only quickly checked the Google reviews which was a mistake. I had an uncomfortable experience being told I had to get a lot done and Ieft feeling pressured to get Invisalign: “you should hurry and decide” - last thing that was said to me by one of the team. They quoted me $3000 worth of work PLUS $4400 of Invisalign. I left feeling uncomfortable and distressed.
I got a second opinion and it turns out I have no cavities, no crowns needed, minor grinding, no Invisalign needed. Just needed to touch up a filling. I felt extremely taken advantage of. Be careful!

Omg.They did the exact same thing to me. It was so nuts. They wanted to do a full set of vaneers for close to $40k of work. After the first cleaning. It was absolutely shocking

I’m speechless. Veneers?? $40,000?? That is sickening behavior. Did you say anything to them when they told you?

I went to them for the first time a few months back. It felt like an assembly line. They told me I was done and I said wait a minute, how are my teeth? Any cavities? They were in such a hurry I felt rushed.

My cleaning was aggressive (but not painful) and wordless. The only question they asked beforehand was if I have any issues with my teeth to which I responded “I think I have a cavity” bc I saw a dark spot in my teeth. They ended up saying I did indeed have a cavity but the new place said it was just a stain.

Kirkland Dental Excellence - they were very kind

Thank you. How would you say they are in terms of being proactive or conservative? I am looking for a dentist who basically does nothing until my teeth are about to fall out, lol. Would they leave it alone if it doesn’t bother you (e.g. wisdom teeth that have erupted but are not bothersome, metal fillings, etc) or would they try to be more proactive to prevent a potential future problem?

They really left the decision up to me. Although mine was just getting a minor filling done so I can’t quite say about anything major like wisdom teeth. I asked should I get it done now or can I push it off? And he was very straight forward saying 1) if I’d like to be proactive you can get the filling now or 2) you can push it off for a year or so and I can just come back later in the year to reconsider the timeline.

I had a tooth implant done there and the dentist prescribed me an antibiotic I’m allergic to. It was in my charts too. Also in the “was pressured into Invisalign” club. I had some work done after I finished and then my retainers didn’t fit anymore. It ended up being a waste of money.

Were you alright? Did you report this? That’s 1) awful but also 2) negligent…

Paramount dental clinic on Kirkland is satisfying! My husband and I always go there, everyone is so friendly, they’re full of fun people and they won’t push you through anything like this. They also send referral very quickly, which I assume they won’t keep the patient for themselves. Its patient-centered and I love it.

Crazy how many similar experiences were had here... I went here when I had first moved to the area years ago. I was quoted something like $14,000 for the dental work, and they were quick to offer financing. There was no way I was paying that, went to another dentist (Totem Lake Smiles), and they were floored at the quote. Got all my work done there and literally fell asleep in the chair every time.
The staff there were also kind of weird, I think they forgot my gf was in the lobby, while I was in the back. She said they were speaking pretty rudely about patients and were having some overly sexual conversations, lol.
I can't recommend Totem Lake Smiles enough!

$14,000…I really do not understand how this place feels okay taking advantage of people like that. I’m sorry they did that to you.
Also same about the financing - once I got all the quotes, they very quickly said “we offer payment plans.” Hated that. Anyways, I’ve been hearing good reviews about Totem Lake Smiles so I’m glad to hear they treated you well.

Go to Totem Lake Dental!
I've been with them for several years now and I would recommend them for their outstanding professionalism, care, and communication. Based on my experience, I can only assume they go above and beyond for their patients every step of the way. I've never had a bad time with them and they address their concerns for my dental health to a level of satisfaction that I think can be hard to find these days.
And I can't say enough about just how nice everybody is there, from the front desk to the operating chair it's a breath of fresh air every visit!

I had a very similar experience. They insisted on a bunch of work that they tried to pressure me into agreeing to and signing the paperwork while I was still half reclined in the chair. Three times during my visit, which was for a filling, they came at me insisting i get extractions and that I should sign up for invisiline. Even after I said no they asked two more times while pushing the contract towards me on a clipboard almost as if my decision to move forward was a forgone conclusion. Have not been back. Went to different dentist here in town and they told me that I didn’t need even half of the work Kirkland premier was insisting on.

They were saying “we’ll take $2000 off” and circling the numbers on the paper on the clipboard as if I should be sooo grateful. They also said if you sign, we can start today which I hated. They definitely don’t take no for an answer.

I was so close to get legal actions with these people. I went there for my periodical cleaning and checkups, but they drilled my tooth without any notice. No consultation, no consent, nothing... well it was my tooth, whatsoever reason that was. Zero consent and just apologies afterwards, and damages were done. Well that didn’t stop them from selling invisalign inbetween..

If not legal action, I hope you reported them - that’s so messed up. Did they have a reason or make you pay for the drilling?
2
u/Medium_Elevator_9598 7d ago
To be honest, it wasn’t the paying that got me. I just never had drillings done before and there’s a reason for it (like none of my dentists I was with before saw the need for that). Once it gets drilled and filled, that is it.. you can’t reverse that.

What would you suggest? Recently moved into Kirkland (like 18 months ago now) and need to find a new dentist, but have a rough history of finding dentists who don't take the resistant to pain killers seriously.

I’ve been going to Beetham, I will always go there as long as I live close enough. I’ve always been terrified of going to the dentist. I need 2 rounds of strong anxiety medication right before leaving levels of terrified, just to be able to go for a cleaning or filling. They’ve been absolutely wonderful though, I really can’t say enough good things about their whole team. And I’m one of the ones who also needs a ton of novocaine for a filling, they’ll take you seriously.

100% agreed - very similar experience here. Went in for a tooth inflammation knowing it was due to my wisdom teeth, and wanted an antibiotic and schedule a wisdom teeth extraction. Didn’t get to meet the doctor I scheduled with, her husband instead saw me, told me I needed Invisalign (unrelated to my visit), and pressured me to sign paperwork for a $300 MRI that is NOT NEEDED pre wisdom teeth extraction. He started pressuring me to get it removed during the visit too, but I refused to pay $300 for something they wouldn’t bill my insurance for. An assistant literally showed me the door after I didn’t want to pay the $300. Didn’t get any antibiotic for my inflammation either. Horrible experience, went to Yelp and Google to leave a review and saw both platforms filled with fake reviews, and the few real ones that were negative were getting their information doxxed

I hate that you experienced such awful behavior and I’m glad you stood your ground.
I left a review on both Yelp and Google but they took my Google review down. It did worry me that they still have my info and could do something bad but whatever. They’re now pumping out 5 star Google reviews and taking pictures with their patients and it makes me siiiick.

I made the mistake of going here and getting Invisalign when I’m pretty sure I didn’t need it and it was a shit show. They said my bite was misaligned and now I have some other issues that weren’t really present before. The buttons for the Invisalign popped off 4x within a month at one point and they couldn’t get them to stay on. When they removed them, they didn’t do it all the way and I can still feel them on my teeth. And the front office staff seems generally unfriendly? In fairness I’m a fat woman so I get mixed energy from people across the board but there’s a blonde woman who works the desk who is always short with me and looks irritated to be there.
Also I’m pretty Covid conscious and they have HEPA air purifiers in each stall. Yay! They have not once been on in the 4 years I went there.
My husband’s insurance changed recently and I’m excited to try a different dentist.
