Does this happen to anyone else?
Out walking my dog tonight I came across this. It is solid mahogany, and I have no way to move it right now. If it’s still there tomorrow when I come by with my truck, it’s going to my shop! Does anyone else look at piles of old furniture in the trash and see guitars? Happens to me….

Take the dog home, get the truck and go get it tonight! You'll be kicking yourself if you miss out.

How do you know it's solid mahogany?

It's easy to spot when you have worked with it. Very distinct.

Yeah that's fair I guess!

It's actually not a guess. I worked with the stuff for years, a family business thing growing up. You can tell it at a glance, even where it's from. It's distinctive in it's own way like oak, and many other woods are. Telling woods apart is a simple skill developed through a little experience, it's not difficult.

I checked- the grain was the same on the top and bottom of the tabletop, and the bracing was all solid wood. It was heavy as hell too!

I used to do this all the time. Had a whole corner of basement full of random pieces of wood. Some eventually transitioned into instruments or furniture.

Every time I see an old table or pallet, my mind immediately goes to something guitar related.

I'm an assistant store manager at a grocery store. I get WAY too excited about nice looking pallets 😂
