Supposedly, he was advised to not sing that part to avoid legal issues, but he found the perfect loophole... he knew the crowd was going to finish the line and he just went along with it 😂

What is Drake going to do? Sue him and the whole stadium?

he literally looked in the camera and said hey drake I here you like them young and then smiled like a serial killer .He also had an a minor chain on

u/Klaus-Heisler Feb 10 '25

The black flag they were waving around also had two kids holding a lower case a.

Diabolical

That's the pg lang logo

103

u/yourlavenderplug Feb 10 '25

Lol the a chain is for his record label pglang

Not doubting that, but a lowercase letter designates the minor key in music. That was the first thing I called out to my wife.

Full disclosure, everything I know about this feud is from reddit or a video titled 'not like us explained for white people' we watched after the grammys. This is all just from someone enjoying this from the sidelines.

Please do yourself a favor and watch Josh Johnson’s like hour set on it. Hilarious and quite informative,

28

u/FightMeCthullu Feb 10 '25

“Imagine hating someone so much you gotta edit” is my favourite thing anyone has ever said.

ETA: Josh Johnson’s drake stand up is where that’s from.

19

u/jessytessytavi Feb 10 '25

Josh Johnson just gonna stand there and tell you a story, put in like 3 jokes, and it's still the funniest and most educational video over 30 minutes about whatever subject he's going off on

9

u/WigginLSU Feb 10 '25

I've got two recs for it so I know what I'll watch in the morning!

9

u/MagpieBlues Feb 10 '25

It is a treat, enjoy! And Geaux Tigers!

3

u/WigginLSU Feb 10 '25

Halfway through and loving it. Thanks for the rec, and Geaux Tigers!

3

u/MagpieBlues Feb 10 '25

Yay! Imma do a rewatch today, glad you are enjoying it. And if you are in BR, please have some chicken salad from Calvin ‘s for me!

2

u/WigginLSU Feb 10 '25

Ah I wish, Calvin's is a fond memory. I've been in the burbs of Atlanta for quite some time now though.

And if you want a more in-depth analysis, FD Signifier's video is an amazing watch.

u/Amen_Ra_61622 Feb 10 '25

I only half paid attention to it. It just got confusing since I wasn't 100% focused.

u/doctor_of_drugs Feb 10 '25

You see the comedian josh Johnson and his video (same title)?

if not here’s the link

5

u/TheWalkingDead91 Feb 10 '25

He’s the reason why I know what a savage 50 cent is 😂

3

u/WigginLSU Feb 10 '25

Oh shit I have not but gonna watch that with my morning coffee!

5

u/jessytessytavi Feb 10 '25

there's a second video explaining the pop out, too

man's cracking himself up in it, that's how you know it's good

3

u/WigginLSU Feb 10 '25

Halfway through with my coffee and loving this dude and the video. Thanks for the rec!

u/hankygoodboy Feb 10 '25

that is literally the symbol for a minor if you read music notes so I guess it’s a coincidence

27

u/FBAScrub Feb 10 '25

Not really. His chain was a lowercase "a". An A Minor chord would almost always be written as "Am" or "A-".

3

u/Queasy_Win_4540 Feb 10 '25

DJ Mustard had the chain with a M on it. Together they were Am.

4

u/jessytessytavi Feb 10 '25

but in the logo, the lowercase a is being held by 2 children

so minors

53

u/yourlavenderplug Feb 10 '25

it’s probably meant to be both but the way it’s stylized and tilted is exactly way it is in the logo. It’s not just about Drake

8

u/EACshootemUP Feb 10 '25

It’s both. Kendrick is lyrical like that.

9

u/llamame_gringo Feb 10 '25

No? A minor the chord is written as Am or A-

5

u/vizualb Feb 10 '25

“If you read music notes” lmao it’s a chord and it’s usually shortened to Am

3

u/AcidicMonkeyBalls Feb 10 '25

A minor isn’t a note and it isn’t written like that.

3

u/SodaSnake Feb 10 '25

2

u/Peachi_Keane Feb 10 '25

Thought it was poetic license but turns out it’s literal

Sometimes Am chord is abbreviated as a

Here’s another source

1

u/FergusFrost Feb 10 '25

Lmao what the fuck are you talking about

3

u/DTown_Hero Feb 10 '25

I just learned the other day that the a minor bit has a double meaning: Kendrick was ripping Drake’s blackness, as the a minor key has no black keys on the piano

2

u/IGetHypedEasily Feb 10 '25

Was that also what was on the flag in the back?

1

u/emgcee Feb 10 '25

I was thinking the a was for aubrey

1

u/FillMySoupDumpling Feb 10 '25

Ohhhh I was trying to figure out why he had the letter A !

1

u/serpicodegallo Feb 10 '25

that was really just a lowercase a. "A minor" looks like this: Am

1

u/IED117 Feb 10 '25

Oh shit I asked my son why he had that a chain. And Jesus all that bling just to shank somebody!

Omg people never cross Kendrick, he has no off switch.

1

u/Historical_Ad_2769 Feb 10 '25

You get the up vote for explaining the a, i did not get it! #thankyouwiseredditstranger

96

u/GreatLakesBard Feb 10 '25

But he did sing it

2

u/Uwwuwuwuwuwuwuwuw Feb 10 '25

Yeah perfect loophole. Lawyers hate this one weird trick.

Never go full redditor.

153

u/Hobbes______ Feb 10 '25

he literally did that part, and you can literally watch it in this thread up above.

1

u/seleniumagnesium Feb 10 '25

Man I just watched it but after I read their comment, it like rewrote my brain. I had to rewatch it to be sure.

1

u/Hobbes______ Feb 10 '25

Ya they edited their comment completely after being called out.

30

u/Adorable_Decision267 Feb 10 '25

But he did lol

2

u/babywhiz Feb 10 '25

I think the confusion here is YouTube TV people got the whole thing. Fox over the air blanked it out.

4

u/Dr_Jre Feb 10 '25

Sorry you have to type it confidently onto the internet for it to be true, no one's checking the source material in this day and age we just read the comments to get a feeling for the vibe

23

u/bigbusta Feb 10 '25

Is there a source for the legal part?

That's a lot of questions.

I'll take the over. Drake always takes the under, and he's been losing big time lately.

4

u/JadedOccultist Feb 10 '25

People don’t wanna spread misinformation? Duh?

3

u/EACshootemUP Feb 10 '25

Well ya that’s the whole point of Samuel Jackson saying ‘not to do it’ and such right? Either way dope af as usual.

4

u/JasonGD1982 Feb 10 '25

Sounds like he said it to me on my TV and phone. He's gotta pretty unique voice.

2

u/sometimes-no Feb 10 '25

I'm thinking that "officially" they changed the lyric from "a minor" to "Serena" and that's why the dancers spell out SERENA during that line. That would give them an easy defense against whatever bs lawsuit Drake files.

2

u/JustSomeGoon Feb 10 '25

He sang the whole line though, why is this upvoted

1

u/mann5151 Feb 10 '25

I doubt that, he was editing his words because they're on live tv...The radio beeps out a ton of his words for this song, that you would think is fine!

1

u/AvocadoRich184 Feb 11 '25

He suing the record label for promoting defamation of character

1

u/Arch00 Feb 10 '25

he literally sings it himself though?

what loophole?
