The vendor is Coop's Collection and he regularly gives cards way to young kids that come to his table at shows. So much so that other people will bring him cards to hand out like the other vendor did with the binder. While often being generous, this is a pretty big gift for someone to give and him to give out. Perfect timing by all involved.
Some of my nephews are into sports cards and have had similar experiences going to shows where vendors will hand them a card or two. They definitely remember each and every one and talk about it often.
I don't think he has or if he has he hasn't mentioned it in any stream and didn't mention it live. Not sure where this information is coming from but Phil and his 2 boys have been regulars at the conventions Coop stream this last year.
Phil just got back into it crazy when his boys did. He buys and spends a ton on cards, recently started vending inspired by Coop, and has been around Coop enough to get the joy of giving to young collectors.
Interaction happens at the 8 minute mark Phil gives him the binder at 44 seconds in. Neither adult mentions this is because they lost a kid so I am not sure where you are getting this from...
🥹😔 I’m not familiar with Coop, are you saying the guy in this video has lost his son, and he has made it his mission to give his cards away? Like what happened in the video? Omgoodness 🙏🏻❤️🫶
Coop (the vendor) has not lost a son. His first child is actually set to be born in about week or two. (I think he said around February 20th)
Coop got back into Pokemon in 2018 from watching another collectors youtube video. He started vending last year in around March started recording the vending and putting it on Youtube.
He gives out cards to kids because he is a genuinely nice guy. Since he has grown in popularity from giving kids cards, he also has a bunch fans giving him stuff to give out like both the gentlemen in this video did.
Man not to be such an emotional sucker for it, but love stuff like this that shows the non-toxic, welcoming, neighborly side of manhood / humanity.
The internet can be such a gross echo chamber of.bad shit, easy to forget that good people are actually out there and the norm - impacting their communities in little ways every day.
I'm convinced I've replied to, and had conversations with bots at this point. They are taking over the Internet. It's because of them I'm down sizing what I use the Internet for. So far I'm down to work, gaming, music and reddit(really need to spend less time here, shits bad and everyone doom posting isn't helping my mental health.).
No, I didn’t see the guy hand the card to the kids dad or the message covering the screen saying exactly this. I completely missed it. If only I watched the video :/
It was probably also a substantially more (financially) generous offer than the binder. Hard to know exact value without pausing the video for each page, but there are tons of foil full-art cards that are worth less than $1 each if you you ever want to load a kid up with flashy Pokemon cards, but most people don’t get a card graded unless they expect it to be high-value.
Coop has blown up in the last year for his generosity to the collecting community. In turn it has inspired a ton of his fans and fellow local collectors to give back.
Often they give him a ton of cards to help give out. He has been great for the perception of the community.
