This little thumper has better digs than I do. I gotta buy a rug.

736

u/luisapet Feb 21 '25

I've heard that everybunny whos anybunny hops over to the marketplace for rugs.

183

u/amesann Feb 21 '25

Okay, this is the cutest sentence I have ever read. I am so chuffed.

263

u/Icy-Cod1405 Feb 21 '25

It really ties the room together.

13

u/heatherXpiper Feb 21 '25

i hate the fact that the bunny has better living conditions than me :D

57

u/DickDover Feb 21 '25

omg the lil bed and rug 😭

290

u/shvin Feb 21 '25

I hope the bunny actually sleeps in that bed. Too cute.

326

u/ArtsyRabb1t Feb 21 '25

They do the Ikea doll beds are huge in the bunny community

130

u/vegncyclist Feb 21 '25

I’m happier now that I know this. Thank you

13

u/ArtsyRabb1t Feb 21 '25

Of course! Wish I could post a pic but here’s one of our bunny subreddits of bunnies being extra comfy https://www.reddit.com/r/buncomfortable/s/ixSsceCQAw

46

u/lagomorphed Feb 21 '25

Do they still sell these? I finally have a bun who i think might sleep in it and not just eat it/pee all over it. She feels very strongly about sleeping and peeing in separate places.

32

u/MakeYogurtGreekAgain Feb 21 '25

They do! I think it’s called Duktig at IKEA!

40

u/lagomorphed Feb 21 '25

Thank you! Ah crap... this little b is gonna have a full on canopy bed...

14

u/Parking-Main-2691 Feb 21 '25

Now that is pic worthy lol.

We’re about to see this guy post on /r/malelivingspace: 3, gay, chuffed

356

u/mudcrabserpent Feb 21 '25

Nice digs dude but do ya have to shit next to your dinner plate?

154

u/BraileDildo8inches Feb 21 '25

Fun fact rabbits expel both cecal and fecal pellets. Cecal is partially digested food that they eat again.

205

u/REMcycleLEZAR Feb 21 '25

I rank that in the middle of fun and not fun, personally.

79

u/lagomorphed Feb 21 '25

Most rabbits are super polite about it and you never actually see them eat them. It's a private part of their grooming/bathroom time, and I'm very happy with that. Eat your hay, redigest your hay, and please don't make me take you to the emergency vet.

21

u/REMcycleLEZAR Feb 21 '25

Your black bunny looks like my black kitty. (If I clicked on your profile and didn't see a bunny I'd be disappointed)

11

u/lagomorphed Feb 21 '25

Thats.... fair for someone with this type of username talking shit on rabbits 😂

2

u/DistortedxTruth Feb 21 '25

So happy I clicked your profile. Little fluffs are so cute. Pass on some love from me to them when you have the chance!!

3

u/lagomorphed Feb 21 '25

Thank you! 🖤 they're actually being exceptionally rude right now. The old one taught the young one to stand on my foot to get snacks. He also taught her she can negotiate for better snacks. So here we are, a rabbit on each foot, each wanting a different kind of fruit this very second.

2

u/DistortedxTruth Feb 21 '25

3

u/dibalh Feb 21 '25

I’ve seen mine eat his straight out his butthole.

15

u/Asimovs_5th_Law Feb 21 '25

I'm not saying it's for me, but I can definitely appreciate the utility of it

15

u/Inevitable_Snap_0117 Feb 21 '25

Honestly. How inefficient are humans that we can’t even eat our own poop? What a waste.

9

u/FileDoesntExist Feb 21 '25

Nobody is stopping you. Results may vary.

6

u/Cachemorecrystal Feb 21 '25

We predigest our food, we even pay people money to do it. It's called cooking.

2

u/Inevitable_Snap_0117 Feb 21 '25

Exactly. Inefficient.

3

u/darrenvonbaron Feb 21 '25

Second harvest bro

8

u/thats-brazy-buzzin Feb 21 '25

Id say it’s at about 33.33% (repeating of course) fun.

5

u/REMcycleLEZAR Feb 21 '25

Leroy's guildmate, I agree with you. It's approximately 2/3 disgusting, 1/3 interesting.

3

u/Natural-Weakness-563 Feb 21 '25

A perfect 50/50 mix of ‘neat’ and ‘why did I need to know that?

9

u/Acrobatic_Bend_6393 Feb 21 '25

8

GET OUT

3

u/brendoggystyle69 Feb 21 '25

i support my rabbit eating his dingleberries

8

u/JealousKale1380 Feb 21 '25

Are cecal pellets called ceces?

That tracks with the pizza

3

u/Maleficent-Cut4297 Feb 21 '25

Also, the easiest way to litter train them is to put hay in their litter box because they love to poop while they eat and then they just get used to it

→ More replies (11)

21

u/rockne Feb 21 '25

At least the bed has a frame and isn’t pressed against a corner wall…

10

u/Ragnarsworld Feb 21 '25

Gotta leave some space between the bed and the wall so you can change the sheets easier.

4

u/__01001000-01101001_ Feb 21 '25

And doesn’t have “OBEY” banners over it

5

u/running_stoned04101 Feb 21 '25

I had a lionshead several years ago and yea...they shit while they eat and sometimes eat their shit.

8

u/Lash_Ashes Feb 21 '25

Ferment grass inside their own body then eat it a second time to get the nutrients. Crazy system really.

4

u/RogueAK47v2 Feb 21 '25

Bet you’ve eaten at a food court right next to a public bathroom before. Don’t judge

4

u/bfish1234 Feb 21 '25

Someone repost to r/homedecorating to get a better floor plan

u/Crafty_Assistance_67 Feb 21 '25

Looks like he's litter trained. All is good. ;)

184

u/shibeari Feb 21 '25

Most rabbits are very good about using a litter box.

source: I have a bun, didn't even have to train it to use the box.

53

u/wannawinawiinebago Feb 21 '25

Is this a bun by bun basis or can I really just plop one down in a litter box one day and all is good?

59

u/Horror-Concentrate41 Feb 21 '25

As long as it’s clean pretty much yes, sometimes they will poop outside but it’s very easy to clean

61

u/xSTSxZerglingOne Feb 21 '25

Rabbit poop is a lot less repugnant than most other pet poops.

30

u/Throwaway-tan Feb 21 '25

It's like Nesquik cereal.

22

u/wannawinawiinebago Feb 21 '25

I've been to the arctic where arctic hares are super plentiful and at basically every patch of existing foliage was a collection of coco puffs.

9

u/CorsicanMastiffStrip Feb 21 '25

Truth. We had rabbits when I was a kid. We'd just vacuum up the stray poops.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/NotASniperYet Feb 21 '25

Yep, I've adopted formerly neglected bunnies from rescues and most of them figured out where they were supposed to do their business within the day..sole exception was the super fat one. Turned out he was so fat, anything but a flat surface was a struggle. He got a lot better about using the box as he lost weight.

7

u/MindCorrupt Feb 21 '25

Ours would even use the same spot in the backyard too.

She never broke eye contact when she went there too. It was weird.

→ More replies (1)

19

u/xSTSxZerglingOne Feb 21 '25

Basically you start them in a cage, cover the bottom with litter material, find the corner they poop in, and put a litter pan there.

When you're ready to move them out of the cage, and they're pooping in their litter, you just put the pan any-old-where and they'll poop and pee in it.

17

u/Daffan Feb 21 '25

Our rabbit found its place first lol (On cold tiles in the corner of laundry) and than we put the litterbox there. We basically let it 100% free roam anywhere now and never had a problem in 18 months, of course you still get 1-2 very small dry ones every week or so in common places.

12

u/Dimos1963 Feb 21 '25

It’s funny how they naturally pick their own spot, and you just have to work around it.

14

u/gillers1986 Feb 21 '25

People think Cats own humans. Rabbits are way ahead.

4

u/lagomorphed Feb 21 '25

Yes! You're not really negotiating so much as.. making your own life easier.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/gillers1986 Feb 21 '25

Usually the other way around. Determine where they like pooping, stick the litter box there.

2

u/Llistenhereulilshit Feb 21 '25

Set it and forget it.

3

u/lagomorphed Feb 21 '25

You have to spay and neuter them (also for their health! They get cancer young and smell awful otherwise) but usually... the rabbit picks a corner where they tend to go. You fill a big litter box with pine horse bedding and a lot of hay and put it in that spot. They'll go and eat and sometimes just hang out in there. You might have to do a tiny bit of training and there might be dry poops outside the box here and there, but yeah it's pretty easy and most of them like to be clean.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/Magic_Incest Feb 21 '25

That's good to hear, years ago I toured an apartment whose then-current tenant had a rabbit that was free roaming and there was shit everywhere. I've lived for years wondering how rabbit owners put up with that, but I'm glad to learn that's maybe not as common as I assumed.

(No offense intended, this is a real story and I'm ignorant about rabbit ownership)

3

u/Eiroth Feb 21 '25

That can still happen, but usually not if they're trained and neutered. Luckily rabbit poops are close to biologically inert, they're experts of getting the vast majority of nutrients out

6

u/Connect_Atmosphere80 Feb 21 '25

I had a rabbit that associated his litter with his needs. Whatever we were doing with that litterbox, he always went in when he needed.

My current bun ? He decided that under my desk was the perfect place for doing his deeds. He forced us to move the litterbox there because he didn't cared that it was there in the first place, the area was chosen.

Cute little monsters. I love them.

2

u/Joe579GoFkUrselfMins Feb 21 '25

Sounds like a very safe space to look out for potential predators.

4

u/CorruptedAura27 Feb 21 '25

I want one so bad, but I have a german shepherd who has insane prey drive, so it is sadly not meant to be until my bro crosses the rainbow bridge. Funny thing is, OPs bun and my dog would be the most twinning duo ever otherwise.

13

u/roseimelda Feb 21 '25

His own en-suite.

250

u/dave078703 Feb 21 '25

That rug really ties the room together

35

u/accidentally30 Feb 21 '25

F it. Let's go bowling.

8

u/Sp0ttySniper Feb 21 '25

And let's not forget that keeping a rabbit in doors... For uh.. domestic reasons. That ain't legal.

9

u/Bludsh0t Feb 21 '25

What are you a fucking park ranger now?

4

u/BestRiver8735 Feb 21 '25

163

u/Dazzling-Ad-748 Feb 21 '25

Couldn’t let you go to bed mad. That just wouldn’t do! 😆 sleep well.

17

u/Joe579GoFkUrselfMins Feb 21 '25

Oh, God, this reminds me of a dude years ago that just absolutely WENT OFF on someone that linked a "let me google that for you" to his question. It went like "This is a social media platform, asshole, I am asking the current people in this thread's experience about {whatever the fuck that thread was}, not writing a fucking dissertation, I am here to SOCIALIZE, AKA COMMUNICATE WITH PEOPLE IN A WAY THAT ISN'T A WIN LOSS ARGUMENT YOU JOYLESS PRICK, AND IF YOU ARE TRYING TO ARGUE IT IS ON YOOOOOU TO PROVIDE THE EVIDENCE" Something like that

This little man is chuffed seeing how that cat looks after telling its favourite joke.

37

u/singbirdsing Feb 21 '25 edited Feb 21 '25

I once listed a faux-Asian room divider on Craigslist and got a taker right away who didn't even try to bargain down the price. As he handed over the cash, I told him that I hoped it would look good in his place. He said it didn't really matter what he thought of it, but his cat needed privacy while she used the litter box, and he thought she would be happy with this.

No, I did not get a photo sent to me later.

11

u/kilotangoalpha Feb 21 '25

The photo would have been an invasion of privacy

14

u/Penrod_Pooch Feb 21 '25

u/lagomorphed Feb 21 '25

Its actually the way rabbits work. They eat and poop at the same time, and they have to eat special poops called cecotropes to thoroughly digest their nutrients.

This whole setup is actually A+ rabbit care.
