My 4yo is still non verbal. There is a 100% chance I'll be a sobbing heap if he ever speaks any word to me.

Patience and trial and error is the best advice I can offer. Every kid develops at their own pace, and even if verbal communication remains elusive he will be a unique and special person, with his own ways of expression. Best of luck to you and I hope for all the best! <3
