I feel like you don't sit down and wait for this unless you're ready to get roasted

u/Cottoncloudhigh 14d ago
Absolutely. I'd never get one of these done because I'm way too insecure and have zero self esteem. Would not go well.

I have zero confidence in my body. I won’t even look into a mirror in my bathroom naked when I shower. But I would do this in a heartbeat because I think it would be amazing to know what someone thinks my biggest flaw is and to put it into art. It’s probably not what I think it is. I bet it’s not. And I feel like that could be really eye opening and honestly make me feel better .

Features, not flaws! How can they be flaws when there’s always someone out there who digs exactly that feature?!
41
u/TheMustySeagul 14d ago
I love you trying to be helpful and positive. Body positivity is needed.

u/Sugus-chan 14d ago
No, like, this is literally what caricature art is. Taking the things that stand out the most and taking it to comical extremes.
If a guy has sideburns and a goatee they are not necessarily flaws because he probably loves them, but you can bet those will be major points in the drawing.
We tend to look at ourselves and be judgemental because we think those traits define us, when it's the opposite. Going bald or having uneven boobs are not flaws. Wanting to touch kids or being racist are flaws. If those people are not embarrassed to be like that, you shouldn't be embarrassed of however you look like.

Hey, just wanted to share some advice that my husband gave me a few years ago that he got from his therapist. Look in the mirror and say 3 good things about yourself, one of them being "i love you" the rest can be literally anything, big or small. "Good job waking up to your first alarm today" "i am a good friend" "i am helpful" "good job getting the trash to the curb" "my eyes looks so bright in the morning" "i can see how much effort you're putting into yourself by doing this exercise, im proud of that"
Say these things out loud, if you can't look at yourself the whole time on day one it's OKAY! it's suppose to be hard at first and get easier over time. Its actually so hard to do and feels so silly sometimes. But the best part is you don't have to share with anyone. It's just you being a little silly with yourself every morning for a couple minutes and in time it stops feeling silly and becomes a part of your routine. You start to feel better without even realizing it.

I’d love to just meet a caricature artist because I’m sure there’s some obvious identifying feature on my face that’s the first thing people see but I can’t think of what it is. When I don’t do my eyebrows I have a unibrow so it’s probably that most of the time but I wonder what it is with my eyebrows done. I have a cross bite that makes it look a bit like I have Bell’s palsy too so that could be it, but I’d love to just ask.

And the artist probably doesn't upload the ones where the subjects break down in tears or start yelling.

u/pailee 14d ago
They have to be bot comments because they are obvious.

u/andannabegins 14d ago
It is easy to spot bot comments if you know what to look for. Often, they will state the obvious.

That's just Angel Reese and she's already been compared to Sid before. Hilarious to see it out in the wild

(Angel Reese for the uninitiated)
Angel Reese aka one of the biggest stars of women’s college ball in recent times and now maybe the best rebounder in the WNBA. Big off the court following too.

One of my professors in art college told the class a story about when he did caricatures. It was a couple with their baby. He drew them as he saw it. The mom was upset at how the baby looked in the drawing. The dad however said, “no, it’s right. Our baby UGLY.”
The prof said from then on, no matter how the baby looked, he always drew it with a cute button nose.

You gotta go into it prepped to be roasted. I never had one done because I KNEW I couldn't handle the truth.

Funny but the annoying thing is he shows us the drawing first and not the people so we can’t really compare
28
u/Kamikaze_Ninja_ 14d ago
Scrolled too far to find this. Had to scrub the whole video so I could compare the drawing.

First rule of life, always be able to laugh at yourself and not take everything too seriously.

I like to think characature artists walk around seeing people in this way in the wild

u/StuBidasol 12d ago
Yeah if you sit down at a caricature artist and then get pissed about the result, that's on you.

I love love this!! We had a charactertuist (no idea how to spell that) at our wedding and the guests loved it!! So did we lol and the picture of us was so funny. Unfortunately it won’t let me add the picture but it was fabulous and makes us laugh. My husband in the picture has a ball and chain round his leg and my cheekbones have been highlighted and my dress huge lol

I had been following him for quite a while, found he was coming to a local fair. He did an incredible caricature of my wife and I. Absolutely fucking hilarious. Really great dude.

Sometimes I hear snobby artists talk down on caricature art but I love it so much. It's just fun and it takes more than just physical artistic talent, you gotta be able to think of something funny on the spot! It's the improv comedy of art!

I had one done in Vegas. I’m pretty reserved and never show cleavage and the guy made my caricature look like a Jessica Rabbit drawing with a huge cleavage and very VA VA VA VOOOM! 😆🤦🏼♀️

It makes me laugh thinking about myself reacting to that with mild amusement and thanking them as I take the picture in my hand looking down at it.

The guy with the wonky eyes (in the caricature) sounded like a rooster when he laughed at the picture! Lol!
