Computer Information Systems Degree

Second image is the before picture. First image is the picture taken after months of job hunting.

Lol, I saw that he got the degree and was thinking, well did he find a job?

u/Apprehensive-Cat4384 9h ago

So glad he made it out of Texas.

u/AmoebaBullet 3h ago

With Trump's tartar ffs there will be no jobs to get soon.

u/Gods-Fav-Child 13h ago

I finally figured out why I couldn't get that 4 GPA. I didn't do the first part.

u/koala_kloset 13h ago

OMG hahaha🤣

u/Ayiti79 13h ago

An example of when one falls, they get back up, and seek out victory 👍🏾

49

u/Large-Doughnut3527 13h ago

Too bad MAGA just defunded all these programs.

-29

u/TechnicalIntern6764 12h ago

Can’t you just be happy for the guy? Does everything have to be political all the time? Idc about magats. This guys story is awesome.

49

u/slapitlikitrubitdown 12h ago

The point is there will never be another win like this one because the help this man received will not be there.

Adjacent to being happy for this man, it’s also ok to feel sad that this is the last time it will happen.

“I am an optimist that’s constantly disappointed” -Some famous guy

21

u/Large-Doughnut3527 11h ago

People need help with recovery, they need help feeding their families, they need help with utilities and they need help keeping their farms going. MAGA only care about the latter.

-15

u/TechnicalIntern6764 11h ago

After going through your comments, I’m not entirely convinced that you are an actual person-and if you are, I’m curious as to who is paying you. I understand having disdain for the current administration and dislike, but it seems like your existence is just talking about Trump. every. single . comment.

7

u/Large-Doughnut3527 9h ago

I am a very frustrated conservative voter! I can’t sit back and watch MAGA screw the citizens of the US that are of color or different than white people running this current administration. I’m sorry.

6

u/ixcibit 9h ago

So if someone doesn’t like your god-king that is going around threatening war against allies they must be a bot? Try to watch something other than Fox or ONN for the sake of your own intellect.

-2

u/TechnicalIntern6764 9h ago

Only God that I have is Jesus Christ. I don’t have any idols. I Don’t watch Fox and I have no idea what ONN is.

7

u/Large-Doughnut3527 9h ago

But Jesus loves everyone! That includes people who are different. MAGA wants them all none existent.

u/TechnicalIntern6764 9h ago

I don’t think so. I think you are in too deep. You should take a break from politics. I’m not going to argue with you. You seem to believe trump wants to wipe out people who aren’t orange? Like himself.

3

u/Gloomy_Zebra_ 6h ago

Everyone is being paid! No one is dissatified with Trump! Tell me, where do I sign up for my Soros check. 😂

-12

u/Ayiti79 12h ago

Same here my friend, agreed. It is a shame that people let politics dictate their everyday life. They forget too zoom out, and express something genuine, human emotion.

-12

u/Ayiti79 12h ago

Not everything or everyone revolves around political paradigms, friend. Also if I am not mistaken not everything was "cut", likewise with any administration that has done cuts.

-1

u/QuintessentialIdiot 11h ago

Which one? Should I be concerned?

27

u/Madison_fawn 13h ago

Important that people see this. Rock bottom is NOT the end of your ride. Even when you are as far down as you can get, and feel like you’ll never claw your way up, just know that HUMAN DETERMINATION AND PERSEVERANCE is real. You will prevail. You can take control of your life back. There is always a chance at redemption.

7

u/holy-shit-batman 13h ago

Dude, opportunity is the way out of addiction, not vitriol and hate.

12

u/BuzzyyFuzzy 14h ago

Wow, that’s inspiring.

5

u/jp112078 12h ago

Anyone who can kick heroin is incredibly resilient and tenacious. To turn your life around in such a positive way after that and achieve success is nothing short of astonishing.

This is such a fantastic story - it takes courage and strength and determination. There are some joke replies that I’d normally find amusing but this is such a huge accomplishment that they seem kind of….disrespectful I guess…

Congratulations on how far you’ve come! Keep up the good work! You’ve accomplished something amazing

Let this be a lesson to those of us who shit on homeless and drugs addicts as being a waste of space. Yes, even that dirty fucker sleeping behind the 7-11 is a person with potential to live a worthy life.

1

u/Inzipid 13h ago

A jingle popped into my head right away "Heroin. It's not as bad as you think."

1

u/koala_kloset 13h ago

Idk this man but I'm so proud of him!!!

1

u/Delightful_Helper813 13h ago

Congratulations job well done

1

u/Brilliant_Effort_Guy 13h ago

Good for him. That takes a lot of dedication and discipline. My brother is 6 years sober from heroin and fentanyl. Everyone has potential. We just need to be getting the right support and learning effective coping skills.

1

u/Lost_Adetterio 13h ago

wow this makes me feel lazy

1

u/NV_1790 12h ago

It is always great when people get a second chance at life.

1

u/QuintessentialIdiot 11h ago

The true measure of a man isn't how he falls down, it's how he gets back up. You've been weighed, measured, and found to be incredible.

Before and after supporting the Houston Texans?

Sometimes people drink or do drugs to quiet their overactive minds. It’s not surprising there’s intelligent folks among addicts.

1

u/ManzanitaSuperHero 9h ago

Wow. I’d never recognize this as the same person. Good for him.

1

u/BeechImFabulous 7h ago

This is wild.

1

u/catrassp 6h ago

HECK YEAH

1

u/omarhani 5h ago

Backwards it's a depressing story of a successful businessman who became addicted to drugs and lost it all

1

u/ChestNok 5h ago

I believe this truly deserves commendation: that takes some power will, if not all of it.

1

u/glorious_reptile 4h ago

If you play it in reverse you have a student that becomes a full stack developer

1

u/Echodarlingx 4h ago

you just gotta do some real heroin and you'll go far. let's learn from the "don't use ai to create art" analogy ~

1

u/Time_Tax4274 3h ago

Stop posting old stuff again, have seen this so many times. Buh karma farmer

1

u/xan1ety_ 3h ago

Awesome, I'm so glad he chose the right path!

Overcoming heroin addiction is an immense challenge, and achieving a Computer Information Systems degree with a perfect 4.0 GPA is truly remarkable. This accomplishment is a testament to strength, resilience, and the ability to turn one’s life around. It serves as proof that regardless of your past, incredible things are possible through hard work and determination.

Huge congratulations OP, I hope you're very proud of not just one but both of those achievements - those are life changing milestones. I'm wishing you the best :)

Additionally, I just wanted to chime in since I'm also working in tech currently as a Platform Engineer. I got here with an A.A.S. in IT which I went back and started after overcoming the darkest parts of my substance abuse.

I came from heavy addiction starting in High School and grew up with multiple alcoholics in both of my parents homes. By the end of High School I'd tried heroin, all the stimulant RXs (aside from desoxyn), most 'common' psychedelics , ketamine, DXM, and pretty much all opiate RXs. I'd been completely and absolutely addicted to weed since 16 and I had used and abused an absurd amount RX benzos, primarily Alprazolam - to the point I had terrible withdrawals and brain zaps and hit 6mg/9mg a day on average. To top it off I had already tried a humongous amalgamation of RCs from pretty much all drug categories due to my early usage of the darkweb (hence the bulk powdered alp which easily led to dependence, and me being able to access any and everything in HS).

It took many years for me to be in a good place considering my use, and I hit rock bottom years before I went back to college due to my growing meth GHB and xanax habit post HS. I put my all into it, the 4.0, prepping for and attaining multiple internships, networking and attending career fairs, all while working nearly full time to support myself and living alone.

RECOVERY IS ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE - and I found IT a fantastic field to transition into. Employees with non-traditional backgrounds are popular in this sphere, even if its unspoken like ours. I am by no means trying to make my addiction experience 1 size fits all, but I firmly believe that if an individual dedicates their EVERYTHING to it, even the worst of addictions can be overcome and make you appreciate the rest of your life more, propelling you forward.

u/Eozef 1h ago
