I’ll never forget putting on glasses at 5 and realizing the world wasn’t supposed to be fuzzy.

Seeing the individual trees on a mountain for the first time is a universal experience for all of us with glasses

It was the full moon on a clear night for me. Nearly brought me to tears.

5? Man you’re lucky I was blind af until I was 11 despite always needing to sit close to the white board or mountain math wall. Idk why none of my teachers approached my parents

The best part is that eyebrow raise."Woah! So THIS is what the world really looks like!"

How do they get the right lens prescription for such a young patient?

IIRC it's possible to scan the eye to get a rough estimate of the necessary prescription with some scan of the eye, and I would think that is enough for infants.
The "which looks better" test is to find the exact needed prescription.

That baby started with a little smile like "Wow I can see!!" Then the smile faded a little and a bit of a frown appeared when he saw what his parents looked like. But in the end he decided "Well this is what I get so I'm gonna make the most of it!"

A bit sad that the kid needs eye correction at this age (I was the same) but look at that smile! Hopefully the world makes a bit more sense and is a bit clearer from now on!

It's sad that a baby would need glasses, but do they look freakin' adorable in them? Yes.

I love how babies wig out about something being on their face until they actually look through the glasses and realize that it's a beautiful world that they had no idea existed

I’ve always been curious, what condition causes babies that young to need glasses? I don’t see it very often, so is there a specific condition?

It's really great they can get a prescription without the need of verbal feedback from the patient.

Not much everything we know new will make us feel happy, happy, calm,
And not least all the new things we know make us worried, optimistic, ill-conceived, miserable, saturated, And what else...?

Anyone know how they determine such a young child’s prescription? For an adult we read eye charts and things while they run through a bunch of lens combinations. They require our feedback to let them know which combinations provide the greatest clarity. But for a kid that age who can’t even talk yet, how do they know what kinds of lenses he needs?

I love this. Hopefully all who need eyeglasses can get access to them regardless of age.
