Question Wedding make up trial gone wrong

Hi there

Upcoming now nervous bride here.

I had my make up trial today with the artist I have booked and ended my appointment very disappointed, confused and upset. I’m looking for some reassurance if someone can put my mind at ease.

When the appointment started, I was advised that it would need to be cut short due to other commitments without prior confirmation which took me off guard as I paid a lot of extra money for the trial.

Make up started (I asked for soft glam as I thought this would be similar to natural but an enhanced look as I don’t wear heavy makeup up - maybe I was wrong to ask for this) with no skincare or prep being done just straight on with foundation which felt extremely wet, cakey and heavy. I think the foundation was Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless.

Bronzer and blush was then added - along with eyes and lashes - but no option of lashes just told the standard pair would be added to everyone on the day. Lashes ended up being 2 different sizes when I took them off.

Mascara was then added but the wand from the tube was used directly on my lashes and then one side of the wand was sprayed with Isoclean and put back onto the tube. (Brushes at the start of make up were also sprayed with Isoclean which makes me feel like they weren’t clean in the first place)

Finished with setting spray, no powder or foundation blending. Lipstick was added with a brush (not disposable)

When my make up was finished, I could feel the foundation sitting on my face and was crazy pilling all over the place - so much so, it was all over my top. When I asked if it was possible to powder to matte it down, I was met with “there’s nothing shiny on your face” but some powder was added to my Tzone but this did nothing.

I exfoliated in the morning of my appointment and used The Ordinary Glycolic Acid and Clinique 100Hr moisture surge moisturiser, just a little fyi so this may be the reason for the pilling.

I left the appointment very downhearted and when my fiancé seen me, said “you look good, from far away but up close you’re very cakey” and at that point, I burst into tears as the last thing I want on my wedding day, is people commenting on how horrid my make up is

There were a few other things that happened with the other person with me on my appointment (family member) which also made me question how the artist would be on the day.

I’ve got a trial with someone else booked now but would I be rude to cancel her services? 6 months to wedding.

Many thanks!!

Pics for visual.

TL;DR:

The bride had a disappointing makeup trial where the artist rushed the appointment without prior notice. The makeup felt heavy, cakey, and uncomfortable, with no skincare prep, and the foundation pilled. Lashes were mismatched, and unclean tools seemed to be used. The makeup didn’t blend well, and when the bride asked for powder, it didn’t help. Her fiancé noted it looked good from afar but cakey up close. Feeling upset, she’s now considering canceling the makeup artist and trying someone else, but is unsure if that would be rude.

To me, a trial is like an audition, and she bombed it. On to the next, no need to feel guilty.

That’s a really good way to think about it! Thanks!

Yes please don't feel bad about putting yourself first on your wedding day! It sounds like this artist was very unprofessional...

If you add up everything: telling you it needs to be cut short with no prior notice or partial refund, applying no skincare products, applying two different eyelashes and without even letting you choose them, not following basic hygiene practices, not listening to your concerns, giving you make up so cakey even your husband likely not familiar with make up commented on it - if you look at it like this I'm sure you can see there is absolutely NO WAY you are being rude or unreasonable to not want to go with her!! Never be afraid to say no to things, even if it's awkward. I really hope you find an artist that is more professional and gives you a much better look that you are pleased with!

u/OriginalSchmidt1 1d ago

Right, she was unprofessional literally from beginning to end.

This is what a trial is for - you tried it and you hate it. Honestly I wouldn't go back. That base looks like she slapped it on with a dish sponge, and you've still got time to find an alternative who will take your big day as seriously as you do.

better to do a trial run for your wedding makeup than letting her play with your face on the day of 😭 she definitely dodged a bullet

You had me at no skincare prep… be so for real. Anyone knows that skin prep is 101 especially for long events like a wedding! I would’ve been understanding if perhaps their primer or other skin products weren’t right for you but… they didn’t even do the bare minimum :( I’m sorry love, it sounds like they rushed you. I would say:

1). Find another artist if you can and 2). if you know products that work for you, mention it to the makeup artist and see if they can work with your specific needs.

u/DarkAndSparkly 2d ago

Lordy. I can’t even imagine trying to do a full day look with zero skincare! That’s literally the very first step of makeup application!

I do very minimal skincare because my skin is fussy and freaks out if I try to do anything fun, but even so, I’d be so put off by this.

Also, my neurodivergent ass can NOT hand the feeling of sticky foundation on my skin. NOPE.

u/FakeGirlfriend Curious Bystander 1d ago

Also the way the makeup isn't settling it's like when you mix oil base primer with water or silicon based foundation, so no skin prep and this splotchy mess, big pass on this artist.

6months? Girl! You good! CANCEL ASAP! That's what makeup trials are for

50

u/StrongerTogether2882 2d ago

Right? I was afraid she was going to say 6 weeks or something. Don’t feel guilty, OP! You paid her for the trial, it’s not like she gave you free makeup for nothing. Send her a message that says “Thank you so much, but I’ve decided to go with someone else. I appreciate your time!” Or whatever. Do not get your makeup done by this lady, she did a horrible job. Good luck!

u/paulreverie 2d ago

Don't feel pressured to stick with that artist just because you don't want to seem "rude." It's going to be YOUR (and partner's) big day. You are totally justified in canceling and finding someone else that works for you. From what you said with the mascara, I'm no makeup artist, but that does NOT feel sanitary. At the end of the day, it's your decision, and hey, if you do decide to stick with the artist, it's a trial! The whole point is to try it out before the big day. Just remember to communicate--good luck!

u/Buddy_Burrito 2d ago

I am a makeup artist and she was totally unsanitary which is what led to this. Dirty brushes are the best way to sabotage your makeup game. And that trick she did with the mascara is a huge no no. She should have packs of disposable wands to use. If you don’t want to do skincare because of the cost, watch some videos of people doing skincare for wedding and start doing it yourself now so you can do it morning of wedding like a pro.

Can I ask a few questions?

-For mascara, do you have to use a new wand every time you dip it back into the tube?

-Is there really such a thing as “standard” false lash sizes? I tried buying false lashes for my wedding (19 years ago) when I really knew nothing about them. I just took a friend with me and bought what she bought. Luckily, I did have my makeup professionally done, and the mua explained that my eyes were too big for the size I bought, so we tossed them.

-How do you keep eyeliner sanitary? If it’s a pencil, is shaving it good enough? What if it’s a gel? I’m guessing for liquid eyeliner you can use disposable applicators? I really have no idea!

I’m just curious. I would be a terrible mua lol! I can do my face just fine, but as we confirmed just yesterday when I was helping my daughter get ready for prom, I am completely inept when it comes to different skin types!

1

u/ira_zorn 22h ago

For mascara, do you have to use a new wand every time you dip it back into the tube

Yes. Which is why I ask my clients to just bring their own mascara. I hate wastefulness and try to avoid it as best as possible.

How do you keep eyeliner sanitary? If it’s a pencil, is shaving it good enough? What if it’s a gel? I’m guessing for liquid eyeliner you can use disposable applicators? I really have no idea!

Pencils you sharpen, spray with alcohol, sharpen again. With gels you use a spatula to get some product out on a palette and work from there. I don't really use liquid liners, but when I do I work with cake eyeliners where I also take some product out with a spatula.

As for false lashes, I guess there are some more popular ones (Ardell demi wispies for example) that work well on most people. But it still comes down to personal preference and tolerance. Some people like a more dramatic effect, others feel off in even the most subtle lashes. I live and work in Austria and the vast majority of my clients want very subtle and natural makeup.

This reads like one of those “I went to the lowest rated MUA in my city so you don’t”. You’re definitely not obligated to this person.

51

u/PinkiParanoia 2d ago

Yeah I wish it was the lowest. The trial was equivalent to $190 😭😭😭😭

41

u/GirlEnigma 2d ago

I’m mortified for you. Though you can save others trouble by reviewing her. If she has a problem, don’t feel guilty about asking for a refund. There are So. Many. Things. Wrong. with this.

I used to feel like you, but you are paying for a service and if they aren’t delivering… you have every right to move on. And please show these pics to the next person so they know where you’re coming from! Others have amazing advice to save your day. Wishing the best for you!!💜💜

Edit.. a word

4

u/ImplementFunny66 1d ago

I agree with the other commenter that you should review this person somewhere (google?) if you can.

36

u/ira_zorn 2d ago edited 2d ago

It's fine to apply lip products with a non disposable brush. As long as it's clean.

As for the brushes being sprayed in front of you - a lot of artists do this so the client actively sees them disinfect the brushes, but they are already clean to begin with. I understand your interpretation, but it's nit necessarily accurate.

So much in defense of the artist.

Cutting the appointment short, not prepping the skin, PUTTING THE MASCARA WAND BACK IN THE TUBE 🤯🤯🤯 are all dealbreakers imo. This sounds like highly unprofessional behaviour.

I always simply ask my clients to bring their own mascara or I get one for them that's theirs when we're done.

I always have skin care basics (for brides always SPF) in my kit that I know sit well under makeup. Or if the client has specific skin issues and use specific products I will try with their products first. I don't need a client to have a bad reaction especially on their wedding day.

For the trial especially, I clear up at least 3 hours of my schedule bc the point of a trial is to make adjustments to the client's satisfaction.

1

u/SincerelyCynical 22h ago

Do you mind if I ask what you use to prep porous skin?

Yesterday I was helping my daughter get ready for prom. She has my husband’s skin. We just say it’s a trade off lol! My pores are practically nonexistent, but I’m so pale I make printer paper look tan. My husband and daughter have the most porous skin I’ve ever seen, but they can get a deep tan standing next to a reading lamp.

Suffice it to say, I was wrong about how to prep her skin, and it took as a long time to fix it!

1

u/ira_zorn 22h ago

Use a good base (SPF) that allows me to evenly work in the foundation. Like, it needs to have a nice glide bc with enlarged pores you need to really work in the product and not just spread it over it.

There are some good blurring primers (I like this out there that can make pores less apparent. You would tap that on and press into the skin after the SPF. But I find tgat it's more about the foundation than the primer when it comes to finish. I have had great experiences with the Catrice HD Liquid Coverage foundation when it comes to blurring finish.

u/AngelxxLove 2d ago

I’m not a makeup artist nor do I have experience getting wedding makeup done. But I do my own makeup and work in a Sephora.

She should’ve asked you questions first. What kind of makeup look are you going for? What is your daily skin prep morning/night look like? What do you view your skin type as? What are problematic issues you have dealt with? This will determine the skin prep and makeup products used for the look.

Skin prep shouldn’t be skipped. After she should’ve asked you your skin type and if you had put anything on that day, she should’ve followed it with the appropriate skin care items to get the skin ready for makeup. Personally, I would’ve cleaned your face with a fresh base and then followed it with a good toner and moisturizer. Let it sink in and then continued to the makeup

Brushes should’ve been clean and visibly clean. The mascara incident you describe directly tells me that her makeup isn’t sanitized and in fact, dangerous. You don’t want to catch a sty or any infections due to her carelessness or lack of knowledge (makes me wonder if she even is truly licensed?) that’s the basics of being an artist because in cosmetology, they enforce hygiene as the most important part of artistry.

The makeup looks cakey. The mix of lack of skin prep, horrible technique and/or dirty brushes is why it appears so pilly and heavy.

I wouldn’t have used the Flawless Filter. It’s too shiny and probably why you felt like your skin looked shiny. I would’ve done like a NARS Light Reflecting foundation for the coverage and skin like appearance. She should’ve used powder to set and then used a setting spray.

Like someone stated, this was like an audition and she didn’t pass. Don’t pay someone to do half ass work. Also, if she cut it short because of other commitments, it shows her lack of respect and disorderly planning. She shouldn’t grab work she can’t complete in a professional manner. Also, it could indicate she may cut the wedding day makeup short, do a bad job and call it a day, or not show up last minute!

Get someone new, it’s not rude. It’s actually rude for her to think this was a good look and what she did was artistry.

15

u/PinkiParanoia 2d ago

Thank you 😭😭😭😭😭

1

u/MissUncaptioned 1d ago

I work at a SpaceNK and I second all of this I even came here to suggest the Light Reflecting Foundation hahaha I would just avoid charlotte foundations in general for bridal makeup they don’t wear as well as other foundations for such an important celebration I would either go for Nars, Estée Lauder, Dior, or Lisa Eldridge (for more of a soft matte Finnish) :)

17

u/gypsetgypset 1d ago

Where do you live, I'll come do your makeup for free Jesus Christ. That woman should not touch any bride.

8

u/PinkiParanoia 1d ago

😂😂😂😂😂😂 best comment yet 😂😂

7

u/WaterAndStones 1d ago

She's trying to give them a 2 for 1 - you won't need a cake at your wedding if you become the cake /s

OP you're clearly beautiful and this mua f'd up badly. I hope you find a better one that can help your beauty shine through properly!

1

u/Spillingteasince92 1d ago

seriously 😩🩷

15

u/TheEmporium_Ethereal 2d ago

She did Not do a good job, do not pull punches when you cancel and I hope you’re able to get some of your money back based on how extremely unprofessional it sounds like this person was. In no world should you feel obligated to try and make that work. Absolutely not.

30

u/Additional_Fig_8756 2d ago

What’s rude is the half assed job she did. She clearly doesn’t care so why should you? It’s your wedding if you don’t like her work just move on. No need for u to feel bad or whatever. Say you found someone else and thanks. Don’t over complicate it more than you already have

14

u/Consistent-Bench4266 2d ago

People like her a the reason why I ended up doing my own makeup. I had enough time to learn all about it, to practice and to buy all equipment I needed. Still less expensive than a pro mua appointment and the products would last me an eternity, not just one day. I might have to add, that in my teens and early 20s I worked as a model (long before the term influencer was even existing) and met some of the most successful makeup artists in the world, just to be fairly disappointed by many of them. This taught me, that even with a huge budget you’d have difficulty finding the right makeup artist. Sometimes your bestie and you might do a way better job when investing in a few core products such as a good primer like Mehron mattifying toner to prevent sweating and oily skin, a proper setting powder and setting spray such as from Charlotte Tilbury or Urban Decay all nighter, waterproof and smudge proof foundation like Estée Lauder double wear, waterproof and tear resistant mascara (or lash lift and tint or extensions, depending on your individual preference), kiss-proof lip stain topped with clear gloss, some nice concealer, blush and bronzer (drugstore brands are just as good as designer ones nowadays) and perhaps a transfer proof glow for your shoulders, arms and legs. If you consider getting fake tan, make sure to try it several times before the event to avoid any patchy results. Wishing you the most wonderful wedding ❤️

9

u/f_n_a_f_87 1d ago

absolutely not. find a new mua. the first red flag is saying she needs to cut your appointment short due to her own scheduling error. so unprofessional to make your own issue your clients issue. next nothing that you did regarding your skincare the day before was the issue here. it was the no skincare prep done by the mua and from what i'm inferring in this post is that she did not have a conversation with you to make sure your skincare currently on your face worked with the foundations chemical base. the issues with your base could be lack of thorough consultation but it 100% is lack of base moisture provided by the mua. i don't even know what to say about how the makeup itself was done as there's a million things wrong here. overall, you need to find someone better to work with you. if you had a contract already review that to make sure there are no financial clauses for canceling and go in saying xyz is wrong and we are not a good fit. best of luck to you!

5

u/Folly_Dolly 2d ago

Other than the sanitary issues and the rudeness, I also must say that the makeup just doesn't fit your features.

I couldn't help put notice that we have the same face shape, nose and similar eyes, and, if it was not a specific request of yours, I don't think that the bronzer, blush and heavy eyeliner really do you justice! I do my bronzer and blush way higher, doing it on the cheek like that can bring a fullness that you may not want, and the thick eyeliner eats up all of your lid space, I think that tightlining is much more suitable for soft glam.

Hope you can find a better artist, you deserve it for your big day!

3

u/PinkiParanoia 2d ago

Thank you so much! I usually have blush and higher and off the cheeks as I don’t like it bang on the middle! Xx

5

u/Vitamin_Bees 1d ago

No skin care ?? On a bride. No my love

Not to mention the cross contamination

Get someone new, this is the point of the trial. You can keep it super general if you don’t want to create a fuss or you can give her a super detailed layout as to your grievances but don’t give the chance to fix it on your face. She needs to practice in her own free time on her dollar .

This is a special day that you paid a special price for special treatment. You deserve it

5

u/ShortGirlUK 2d ago

Yes absolutely no problem cancelling her with six months to go, and when you do cancel, do not be afraid to tell her exactly why you don’t want her services for the big day.

Also, if she cut your trial time short without letting you know in advance I’d be asking for a partial refund for the trial.

5

u/enigmaticteels 2d ago

You can easily just cancel and if I were you I’d definitely consider someone more experienced with complexion makeup and application. There are techniques that we use that are able to give the appearance of smaller pores, while still having a hydrated smooth base! Getting a makeup certification is easy, and can be done quickly especially at those larger cosmetology schools so a lot of the new girls truly don’t have enough experience! 🤍

4

u/avra243 2d ago

That’s what trials are for, it’s ok, :) try different products on the next one to see what’s best for you

4

u/Jazzycabbage666 2d ago

damn did she even put moisturiser?

3

u/PinkiParanoia 2d ago

Nope

4

u/Jazzycabbage666 2d ago

get a new makeup artist ASAP!

4

u/Hangry_Hippopotamus_ 1d ago

Don’t feel bad for cancelling at all!!

Like others have said, a trial is basically a tryout.

Wedding make-up is considered important and personal, and it’s completely reasonable to change your mind after the trial and go with someone else.

It may be a bit more awkward if you’ve already communicated hiring her for the big day and not just for the trial, but you are still completely within your rights to cancel.

Congratulations on your wedding!!

You’ve still got plenty of time to find someone that makes you feel amazing. ❤️

1

u/PinkiParanoia 1d ago

Yeah I had already hired her and paid the deposit but I’ve messaged her, she’s read it and not replied 🤷🏻‍♀️

3

u/Hangry_Hippopotamus_ 1d ago

Ugh, hopefully she’s just getting her thoughts together and will end up working with you. 😣

I do not see how a make up “artist” could have the practices that you described and not expect a negative reaction?!

4

u/AJLNTZ 1d ago

This person has no business charging anyone for makeup service. Find someone else.

3

u/CommunicationDear648 2d ago edited 2d ago

Its not rude to cancel if you were not satisfied during the trial. Thats what the trial is for! Its your wedding, you should get what you want, without worry. Get another trial somewhere else, and if that works out better, cancel on this "artist" and feel no guilt. The makeup you got was really more for a photo shoot with constant retouching and then photoshop, not for a wedding where you need to look good up close too, and time for retouching is sparse.

That being said: you might wanna talk to your next makeup artist more before and during the process. Tell them that you want to look good up close and personal too, and maybe arrive with your usual makeup on so that your artist can see what you like. And ask about tips for retouching, because a wedding comes with tears, hugs and kisses, which a makeup that looks good upclose might not leave untouched.

Also maybe arrive with your usual makeup on for the trial, so they can see what you like, and also forced to remove that and prep the skin properly. You can bring your tried and tested  moisturiser if they don't have one for your needs.

3

u/NoArmadillo388 2d ago

Get yourself some BK brushes, you favorite foundation, concealer, a pretty eyeshadow, eyeliner and tubing mascara, maybe some fake magnetic lashes, a nice blush and a lip stain with lip oil or a good lipstick and do it yourself. I just can’t imagine letting a “professional” do such a 💩makeup . I do my own hair too! You can do it and it’s going to look great 😊 👍! Congrats 🍾 on your wedding 💒.

3

u/wonderfullyllost 2d ago

I'm sorry it went wrong. Hopefully you can find someone better.

3

u/showmenemelda 1d ago

The lashes are the wrong shape for your big, gorgeous eyes! The corners drag your eyes down. I'd go for height in the middle and taper. And the eyeliner looks like something I ended up with when I'd spend 20 minutes trying to "fix" the winged liner lol.

So glad you did the trial run so you can RUN far from this person and find someone to do that pretty face justice in 6 mo! Lol! But seriously, let this person know what happened and tell her she needs to reevaluate her life lol. Maybe in a nicer way. But idk if makeup is her calling. Can't wait to see the update when you find the right person tho.

3

u/Massive-Nectarine941 1d ago

you are beautiful 🫶🏼 i would definitely go with a new artist, since the first one obviously did not work out and seemed like she didn’t put any effort into it. you deserve to look and feel as gorgeous as you are with someone who cares enough to take their time and do their job well

3

u/grimorgsgremlin 1d ago

Nope nope nope. You deserve to feel your absolute VERY BEST on your important day. Thank you, next MUA please!!!

3

u/meowmeow0092 1d ago

Cancel asap. You have to. Do it for your future self. Trust me!

3

u/Apprehensive-Crow146 1d ago

This is what trials are for and why it's important to have one. Now you know that you need another makeup artist.

3

u/Honest_Beautiful_604 1d ago

Pro makeup artist here… it’s terrible honey! Cancel!!!

2

u/Lighteningbug1971 2d ago

Do not use her !!! Move on

2

u/AbjectBeat837 1d ago

Didn’t prep skin properly, for starters.

2

u/jupitersely 1d ago

the eyeliner is so bad, i don't even need to scrutinize the rest of the makeup the artist did. don't go back! you can find someone else or do a better job on your own

2

u/Fit-Season2895 1d ago

If I were you, I would take the time to visit several makeup artists until I found the right one. It's one of the most important days of your life and you still have time. You deserve to feel great.

2

u/Spillingteasince92 1d ago

from the look of it... she didn't add any moisturizer or primer to your face. that's why it looks dry and cakey during the application. she didn't even storage primer + fix spray to melt the makeup ( that removes the dryness ) from the setting power and foundation. if this is just a audition, then I would not book her. this MUA doesn't know wth she's doing. I dont even like the way she did your lips either... the lipliner and color did nothing to enhance your lip. DO NOT BOOK HER ! dont get me started with the brows..... I'm so mad for you.

2

u/Commercial_Bicycle34 1d ago

She did you so dirty. Definitely find another mua!

2

u/jemappelletired 1d ago

I agree that you should try someone else!!!! But something to note is that even soft glam is going to use a lot of product. They do this for the photos, and it can feel heavy if you don’t wear makeup. You 100% should feel happy with the way you look, but you’ll probably still “feel” the makeup on your skin.

2

u/dayfan 1d ago

I had my hair done professionally but I did my own makeup for my wedding No one knows my face better than I do

2

u/CatsClaw_ 1d ago

Try out different foundation/setting powder combos and be mindful of your skin prep (moisturizer etc) ahead of time. If you know which ones you like, you can have whichever makeup artist you use work with that particular product. That will help avoid surprises like the one you had on your makeup trial.

If your makeup artist got the job wrong, you're allowed to find someone else - esp for your wedding day.

3

u/Constant-Pudding1893 2d ago

1- Did you go in with a list of what you would like to see? Dewy/fresh or more matte/muted? Glam/or barley there? Go in next time with a “this is my vibe” conversation.

2- go on in with your favorite concealer/foundation. It gives her an idea of what finish and undertone you prefer. Obviously she can give you feedback but it’s more for you to make sure you stay in the comfortable coverage/feeling on skin/tone etc.

3- go in with a clear list of “I don’t likes”. Example I don’t like lash extensions, I don’t like pinkish lipstick, I don’t like glitter but shine is fine”. And things like, my eyes are sensitive to LIQUID eyeliner because I’m wearing lenses for the wedding. Also, don’t be shy to show a picture of yourself when you felt the most confident.

This is supposed to be fun, and you’re supposed to like how you look like and feel comfortable. IF NOT, nextttt

2

u/Opening_Marzipan5008 2d ago

Its all about the ingredients, its either that you have too dry skin and makeup is patching (keep skin hydrated and plumpy or use such primers to help further) or you’re mixing water based products with silicone based (id recommend sticking to only silicone based)

This is in no way the right way to do makeup, but I do just want to say a couple of things that you mentioned she did that you felt were wrong are quite common practice.

  • Spraying brushes with Isoclean before use, this doesn’t necessarily mean they weren’t clean, don’t be surprised if you go to another artist who also does this. Something I was taught in my study is to show your client that you sterilise tools (CLEAN TOOLS) by doing it in front of them. Not saying this particular artist had clean brushes because she sounds like a mess, but this is something I do as well.
  • Lipstick added with a brush, something else a lot of artists do. As long as the product has been decanted, and the brush is completely cleaned and sterilised (using something like Isoclean), this is also something a lot of artists will do and is completely safe.

I just wanted to point those couple of things out in case your new artist does this as well and you feel stressed again.

I’m sorry you have had this experience with your artist, I really hope you can find someone who does a much better job for you and doesn’t think they are better than they clearly are. There’s no room for makeup artists who treat clients like second priority, especially when we’re talking weddings.

for me, i think you may be using to much fondation/concealer. it’s dries out your face and makes your makeup look cakey.

Ok so your MUA definitely sucks. No doubt about that. Find someone else, pay more if you have to. That makeup needs to last ALL DAY! For brides, I love airbrush. It does not budge and does not look caked at all. Find someone who does it.

Now, on YOUR end, I’m noticing that your skin is not in the best condition to start with. The lack of prep is an issue for the MUA, but day of prep would not be able to totally help the issues.

The creasing around your nostrils, the settling into pores, etc. that’s something you need to work on before the big day.

My bridal MUA told me she can cover anything, even face tattoos, but she could not cover texture so she asks all her brides to do microdermabrasion leading up the the big day.

You need to start working on your skin ASAP! Properly cleanse tone and hydrate daily. Add in serums with niacinamide to help your pores. Make sure your hydrated with water but also lots of healthy fats. Walnuts avocados and olive oil.

Glad to hear your already doing all this. The last heavy hitter would be tretinoin or a retinol, if you’re not already using it.

But trust me, airbrush makes you look poreless! Find someone who does it for brides.
