Get a good mascara and lash brush and when you put on the very thin layers in between very quickly just gently brush the lashes to straighten them out.

I will go to war over bottom lash mascara. I’m incomplete without it. But, if you’re asking opinions, you should get a less clumpy mascara. Or at least take a clean spoolie and run it through your lashes once you’re done. Also, I’d try to take your mascara closer to the root on your bottom lashes because you can tell where the mascara begins. I have long lashes too so I know it’s hard, but it’ll give you a more natural look (even if you’re not aiming for “natural”, what I mean is it’ll give you a less “made up” or tacky look — absolutely no offense intended)

Personally I never liked the look of bottom lash mascara. Also, you should try using a lash brush to get those clumps out. Trust me, it’s a game changer!

Do you brush before or after?

u/milly_moonstoned 1d ago
i usually do it after, hence “getting the clumps out”. the clumps are mascara :)
edit: i’ll take a clean spoolie and brush before, using a lash comb i’ll brush after

Yes but you should pinch them and get the clumps out so they look spiky rather than crusty

I think it looks incomplete without it, but the top is so clumpy that, maybe, there's just too much contrast. I say do both top and bottom, but get a more feathery mascara.

You have beautiful eyes ,just brush the clumps out, and for the bottom..try Bottom Lash Mascara . Amazing 🤩

u/nigliazzo5626 1d ago
You should try a different mascara, it’s very clumpy and your lashes are so nice

I prefer the lower-lash mascara look. You have full and long natural lashes (at least compared to mine 😅), so it provides more visual balance. But it depends on the look you’re going for and how you shape your eye with eyeshadow first.
However, the mascara you’re using is quite clumpy. You can improve the application by using a lash comb before the mascara sets (I love the fine metal ones). After it dries, brush through the tips of your lashes with a spoolie to remove any excess buildup. This will help prevent fallout throughout the day and avoid heavy clumps that weigh your lashes down. By focusing on the ends of your lashes, you’ll avoid the “spider-legs” effect, and they will taper naturally rather than being thick and uniform from root to tip.

I wouldn't worry about the longer lashes until you learn how to do the top lashes without it looking so clumpy and your eyelashes going off in different directions.

So you ask strangers for their opinion then you want to be a smart-ass? You have clumps at the very end of your eyelashes that don't look good. A simple mascara brush after you apply a thin layer of mascara would do the trick. It looks like you're trying to put on too much and it just all looks like too much.

u/faeriekenz 1d ago
im not being a smart ass, I appreciate your comment and I know what you’re talking about when you’re telling me about my eyelashes going in different directions. It’s worse on the left and it happens after I curl my lashes, not after I do my mascara

u/Puzzleheaded_Gear622 1d ago
I have found over the years if I tried to do a third layer of mascara it just doesn't work it does what yours do what we're seeing in the picture. I finally figured out, and I think I got it from the Wayne Goss videos on YouTube, is it if I do one layer from the lashes all the way to the ends one time and not ever go over the ends again but just let the mascara set one time and you can even use a brush to straighten out the lashes if they get bent a little bit. I use a tiny pair of tweezers to straighten them out at that point. Now when you start to put the second layer on put the mascara brush right up against your lashes and barely wiggle it back and forth so that you're actually getting mascara on there but you're not pulling it all the way through to the end of the lashes. That's the only thing I found that would help me keep from putting on too much mascara and then it clumping up. I finally gave up on trying to curl my lashes because whether I do it before or after my mascara it just messes it up.

The lashes going in different directions isn’t my mascara, it’s my actual lashes, they do that when I curl them and there’s nothing I can do about it

Mascara is elf lash n roll

Honestly I always opt for a little mascara on the bottom lashes. The elf brand is a bit clumpy though. I recently switched to a random brand, called La mei la. It’s smooth and has less clumping than the elf brand.
Edit to add: you have beautiful eyes. The bottom mascara makes them pop so much more. I’d say do bottom lid eyeliner too. It’s increase how big and bright your already stunning eyes appear. Use black or brown eyeliner for the bottom lids.

I think with this “heavy” of an eye look (aka black mascara, black liner) I like the bottom lashes with mascara. If you’re going for a more natural look without liner or with a brown mascara, I would go without any on the bottom. You have beautiful eyes and lashes! Agree with other saying to try out a lash comb - it was a game changer for me

I think with the level of thickness your top lashes are a light coat on the bottom would be good. A little less than in photo 2.

I hated elf lash n roll . It looks great on you ! Both looks look good! Do what ever suits your mood

I think it depends on what type of look you want to achieve. If you want the fox eye look then without mascara, if you want more of a cute look and prominent eyes- then use mascara for bottom lash. Imo you look good both ways, but I prefer to use mascara on bottom lashes!

I’ve never been a fan of bottom mascara. I never do it. I just do a little very light eyeliner

u/Hot_mama55 1d ago
I’ll get downvoted but I love the clumpy lash look, but even more with the bottom lashes because it highlights your eyes. 🫶🏼

I don’t because it always transfers. I got so used to no mascara on bottom lashes.

u/chamoi 1d ago
I do bottom mascara, but what I do is after few seconds after application, when it’s a little drier, I use my fingertips to gently “pull off” the mascara. Just gently. And that looks better and more natural, my lashes have pigment and definition but they don’t compete with my top lashes.

Both look sooo cute! The bottom lashes give more of a doe eye look so ig it depends on what your mood is 💕

I always use brown tubing on my lower lashes, even when wearing black on the upper lashes

I would suggest a lash primer. Does the heavy lifting of lengthening and defining and then mascara builds volume without giving a clumsy look.
I like the esthetic you are going for though.

YES but go over it with a clean mascara brush to take the clumps out

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

I have longer thinner lashes like yours and I recommend using Lóreal Telescopic, the golden matte one. It doesn't clump up like that, and also has very manageable product that looks good on the bottom lashes as well. You could have beautiful both upper and lower application, you just need a mascara that will coat and spread your lashes evenly with as little clumping as possible.

Yes! For me it’s your top lashes that are a little clumpy, but if you like the look keep it! If not, either apply a little less, or use an eyelash brush to brush out the clumps around the tips.
