Seems like Slotkin has rejected the notion that Democrats need to adopt a more progressive vision to be electorally successful. Everyone should make it known the same old playbook of compromise isn't what we want right now!

I just can't with these people. You didn't want the status quo you wanted to burn the system down. Well the system is burning down and your trapped inside. You wanted "smaller" government well you got it. We don't owe you anything else.

Politics πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Who wants Michigan to try to repair/maintain our relationship to Canada?

2.5k Upvotes

All other political issues aside, it is a fact that our national relationship with Canada has degraded significantly recently. This question is for people of all political affiliations in Michigan. Do you approve of our damaged relationship with Canada? Do you believe that we, as a state, should start trying to do something to repair that relationship? Canada has been our neighbor for our entire lives, and will remain our neighbor for the rest of them as well. They have helped us a lot with caring for our Great Lakes, and have always been friendly towards us. Many of us have been to Canada at least once for a variety of reasons, including fishing, hunting, trapping, camping, vacationing, or even visiting family. I'm not asking for anyone to feel the need to comment their opinion on this post, but I do welcome it. Mostly I just want to know how many of us want to stay friendly with Canada. A simple upvote or downvote even, is more than enough to voice your opinion

Politics πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ For everyone going to the protest Monday: you stand for many

2.1k Upvotes

You are one, but you stand for many.

Look behind you, look above you, look within yourself. You can't see them all, but you stand for many others.

You stand for people who want to be there, but can't.

You stand for those who are afraid to protest, and you light the way for them.

You stand for the living, and those not yet born.

You stand for the dead, all the brave people who fought in the Revolution, in the Civil War, in both World Wars, in all the wars.

You stand for those killed in race riots, school shootings, church bombings, and attacks on people of color.

You stand for everyone who came to this country looking for a better life for themselves and their families.

You stand for those who were brought here unwillingly, and their descendants working for a better life.

You stand for people who lived here before the Europeans, and for their descendants working for a better life for their families.

You stand for those who worked and still work to end discrimination against Blacks, women, Native Americans, Hispanics, homosexuals, and all marginalized people.

You stand for every American who tries to lift up and support their neighbors. Every American who values freedom and democracy.

You stand for our supporters all over the world, people who want to see the US remain a democracy.

You stand for the Earth and all its inhabitants.

Dress warm. Stay strong.

Politics πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ An email I sent to Sen. Slotkin this morning

Dear Sen. Slotkin,

I am writing to you as a transgender constituent in Lansing. I am deeply disappointment you were absent in the vote on S.9. Lansing, and Michigan as a whole, is quickly becoming a haven for LGBTQ+ people who are fleeing discrimination in other states.

Now is not the time to be moderate. Your trans and queer constituents need you to show up for them. Vote against discriminatory bills that seek to take away our rights to our own bodies, and protect trans kids who deserve to grow up in a world of love, not hate.

While S.9 did not pass, other bills may not fail so easily, and I urge you to take a stance for the constituents that came to your district for the protection and safety we offer them. Take a stance against discrimination and the republicans who are tearing us down. Do the right thing.

Your constituent, [name], they/them pronouns

[S.9 was the β€œprotecting biological women in sports” crappy bill that did not advance the senate, but Slotkin sat out of the vote. She needs to do better when rights are at stake.]

I encourage you to write to your representative and senators. They need to represent all their constituents, not just the ones they agree with. I can’t seem to get through via phone so I sent this email. Hoping I actually hear back 🀞🏻

Politics πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Candidates to replace Peters

Since Gary peters term is up in 2026 and he’s said he won’t run for reelection, are there any actual progressives that can take his place?

We can’t replace Slotkin until 2031, unless she’s pressured to resign. But getting a true leftist in Peters seat that will actually fight for us would be huge.

So does anyone know who the candidates are right now?

Politics πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ RED ALERT TIME SENSITIVE: Call senators Peters and Slotkins now before Trump gets full control of budget tomorrow!!

1.1k Upvotes

🚨 🚨🚨 RED ALERT TIME SENSITIVE: This is serious!

Call your senators now and tell them to vote NO on the CR. Senators will vote on this tomorrow (3/13/25) . There is no time to loose!

We need Democratic Senators to hold the line and not allow this CR to pass. It gives Trump more power on the budget and hurts Americans. The Democrats can stop it. It cannot be moved to a floor vote without 60 senators. Republicans don't have 60.

What this CR aims to do:

Republicans want to give up the right to vote on budget issues for the next 6 months and instead give complete control to the president.

They are using the risk of a government shutdown to push this bill.

Dont let them do this! This bill will grant Trump with king-powers to further dismantle the U.S government departments.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/house-passes-bill-to-fund-federal-agencies-through-september

If a shutdown happens it will be blamed on democrats but this is better than the alternative . TELL YOUR SENATOR THIS! Because right now they are undecided on how to vote.

The [link](https://indivisible.org/resource/call-now-tell-senate-democrats-hold-line-against-extreme-maga-continuing-resolution?source=bluesky) leads to Indivisible's call link. It will give you the number of your representative. Consider fax if you can!
