Question Auto Trace Keeps Crashing After Effects

I'm trying to auto trace a composition but every time I click on "Work Area" it crashes. When I click "Current Frame", it's totally fine. Any ideas?

I've tried opening in safe mode, emptying disk cache andf adjusting work areas in timeline.

I did this the other day the exact way I'm attempting to now and it went perfectly fine, the only difference is that illustration had a 0.5 gaussian blur.

UPDATE: Attempted again with the same composition that worked the other day and that also doesn't work.

That’s classic AE. I dunno if I ever successfully got that to work. I suppose you wanna clip that out? Might try rotobrush or a keyer instead.

tbh I'm VERY new to AE literally started using it over the last week. Idk the best way of going about getting the results I wanted I just knew that way worked before. I think before I was tryna solve the issue of the background being black (not knowing I could just make it transparent) and there was another reason as well, I think it was something to do with the saber plugin and how it works but I'm not sure.

I've ended up autotracing with current frame and changing some settings on the saber effect I've been using and got a better result anyway but I'm sure by how I'm talking you can understand how much experience I have, very much just playing around and figuring things out.

Thank you for your input, though.

Ah yeah will saber effects you want the path data. Makes sense.

any reason why you can’t mask out the illustration in illustrator or photoshop instead?
