🥚 Easter Egg In Land of the Lost (2009) Will Ferrell's character is wearing an ID badge using Buddy the Elf as a photo
there's other small references throughout the movie that aren't dialogue

That's not a hat. It's light shining off his hair. You can see it clearly at exactly the 7 minute mark.

I actually remember watching Land of the Lost in theaters with a few buddies back in college. We didn’t expect much going in, just something dumb and fun—and that’s exactly what we got. I missed the detail about the lighter until years later when someone pointed it out online, and it honestly blew my mind a little. For a movie that leans so heavily into absurdity, there’s actually some sneaky cleverness baked in.
It’s those little hidden gags that make rewatching old comedies worth it. The first time you’re just laughing at the chaos, but the second or third time around, you catch the writers winking at you through tiny Easter eggs. Land of the Lost wasn’t exactly a cinematic masterpiece, but moments like that lighter bit show that someone behind the scenes was having fun and paying attention. Gotta respect that.

Underrated banger. “Hey, maybe this is where our ancient ancestors hosted the Latin Grammys.”

At one point in the movie, Will Ferrell's character eats a donut stuffed with M&Ms, so when he's done eating the donut, he doesn't have to eat any M&Ms, which is definitely a very Buddy the Elf thing to do.

that was like -2 minutes before this scene and it made me recoil physically just because of the amount of sugar i pictured tasting lol

It's not a hat. Googled Rick Marshal prop badge and found it:

Same pic used for badge and license.

Wow, you're right. But that shadow made it look like a mustache and a lot like ol' Ron B

He's only wearing a white shirt, and no hat. How is that Buddy and not just him?

there is very clearly a green hat, just zoom in?

lmao so youre wrong, the "light" is raised and above his hairline, that's not how light or reflections work, it's also not bright at all, in fact it's darker than his WHITE shirt which makes zero sense. in other words, you're coping and trying to argue it's not him for what? because you're very clearly wrong lol

Dude it's VERY clearly NOT Buddy the Elf. I have no idea how you are seeing a green hat. It's just hair.

Holy crap TIL! Loved that this movie had the Ferrell/McBride combo but the Lonely Island connection is great. Really need to rewatch this one!

Will Ferrell's character is wearing an ID badge with Will Ferrell's face on it? I'm not sure where the movie detail is here.

I was invited to the incredible sets of this incredibly bad movie by Marty Krofft. Both brothers admitted the movie was god awful.
