Why would one assume that person was actually a vegan when it seems pretty clear they are trolling?

To be pedantic, the "murderer" here appears to be guilty of a straw man logical fallacy here. It does not appear that the "victim" ever claimed they themselves were 100% vegan, merely pointing out that the store was likely not 100% vegan. They might sell 100% vegan products, but vegan is often a ethical position about treatment of animals. This can be seen by their bringing up several other ethical issues like slave labor, which even if true would not affect a product's vegan status.

If you claim that building materials don't count, why draw a line between products you eat and products you build with? Is it okay for animals to suffer and die for your building materials, but not for your food? Seems like an inconsistent position.

If you claim they weren't responsible for the building, I could make the same argument for my food.

Um, thank you for the pedantry?

While in any other circumstance, I would totally agree with you. I have encountered and known actual Vegans just like that in person. The people I know aren't friends, just acquaintances.

This is completely plausible.

As a vegan... There are definitely vegans like that and they are fucking annoying. Funny enough those are the ones that usually stop being vegan in a couple years and then talk about it because of their "health" because they didn't put in the work to figure out what you need to do to ensure your getting everything you need. They are the people who in the 2000s bought those stupid plastic Scauses bracelets. They want to feel superior. (Insert SouthPark reference here)

And I know they are common because when my boss said "nothing better than having a steak!" Before looking at me and saying sorry. I appreciate he's aware but I wasn't always vegan and although I don't remember the taste, I still remember the feeling of how good they were so I get it. Not offended. I'm just happy you think about me when you get donuts and bring me one i can eat.

Oh, I have known those as well. The flip floppers. Just like you, the best Vegans I know are those that don't let Veganism define them, it is just another part of their life, nothing more.

Yup! No one likes to be lectured, and only talk to people about it when they ask you questions.

Although I'll give you some of my favorite responses to some questions just for funsies. All joke answers.

Q: Where do you get your protein? A: Bitch peas

Q: So vegans don't eat any meat, eggs, or milk? A: no but technically cannibalism is okay as long as you get consent.
