Being conservative doesn’t necessarily mean Republican. I’m fairly conservative (although really only financially) but I hate the GOP, it’s a mess of spineless, ass kissing politicians begging to keep their seats and power hungry assholes who lead the party into this weird quasi-fascist state it’s in. Granted, I think the Dems are just as big of a mess, just less racist in their mess and more like “you guys really just need to decide on something”
The Dems problem is a disconnect between what their younger, more vocal base wants from the party and what the entrenched leaders want from the party. This is the opposite of how our system is designed to work, I don't know how we let this happen.
True, true. But I think it's also important to keep in mind that the voter apathy is also partially by design exactly in response to the disconnect and the desire of those at the top to remain there.
Those are problems in the general election, to be sure. Neither have any impact on the disconnect within the Democratic Party, which is what I was responding to in my post.
Yea but you see we must take every opportunity to make sure blame is shifted towards conservatives/republicans/Trump/etc. If only Democrats would win every election and just ignore the needs of people I don't agree with because they don't live in a smog-filled hellhole
Voter apathy yes, but party primaries are currently the beat way to let a party know what their base actually wants. If you lean left I highly encourage you to vote in the democratic primaries. The only way they can continue ignoring us is if we continue to let them.
Totally agree, I just using them to illustrate that being conservative is very different from this breed of republicans. Both were prominent in a conservative administration but I’m fairly sure neither voted for Trump
And since when were you to decide what’s smart for people to do? It certainly seems that blacks who vote Republican are more intelligent and well spoken then ones who vote Democrat. Keep adhering to Lyndon B. Johnson fellow African-Americans, as his quote still serves true: “I’ll have em ni**ers voting Democrat for 200 years.”
Right now, Conservative Black Americans should NOT vote for the Republican Party because they are the party all the racists flocked to. Having the GOP in power is a bad idea for anyone not white, straight and Christian.
Because the US has a fucked up two-party system, their best bet is to vote Democrat.
Would they be better served by another party? Possibly, but again, the US, for now, is stuck with a two-party system that invalidates any chances of a third party gaining any ground.
Are there racists in the Democratic Party? Probably. There’s a lot of racism to go around.
Are there as many of them as there are in the GOP? Fuck no.

Heh.
I think that you can certainly be black and conservative.
I think it’s smarter for black Americans to vote for the party that isn’t outright racist.
