[Bob] An apologetic Sammy Smith said he has talked to Taylor Gray and will learn from the mistake he made last week. Said he is not worried that in response to criticism, he won’t be aggressive to make clean passes.

Good start. He doesn't have a cartoonishly evil reputation or anything so I believe him until I'm proven otherwise. Still a young dude. Just gotta back it up on the track.

Dale definitely had a few words with him

And once he was done, Kelly had quite a few as well.

I'd probably be more scared of getting my ass chewed by Kelly

She probably assaulted him with the balance sheet and asked him whose gonna pay for all the shit he tore up.

It sucks that the race will be remembered for his move and only his move, and not the fact that Austin Hill pulled the same move twice in the race and dunked multiple cars, or numerous other drivers driving way in over their head.
They all need to be shamed, not just Sammy

Agreed, the only reason Sammy even got dumped is cuz Austin slammed into Justin who got turned into Sammy

u/MrKillerToad Jeff Gordon 1d ago
Exactly. Sammy pulled a stupid ass move, but so did a ton of others. Just sucks that only his is getting attention. The guy who won the race wrecked arguably more cars, including his teammate and no one is talking about it.
Shame Sammy, Austin, etc lol

We'll see. He seemed sincere in this video, but, it's what happens on track that counts.

He’s young. People make mistakes and dumb shit when they’re young. He’ll learn.

There is a difference between aggressive and flatout trying to wreck someone. There are correct ways to move someone if need be.

This is giving me 2023 Ross Chastain vibes. Apologize for doing something stupid and then going back out and doing the same thing.

I hate these apologies. Are you really sorry for what you did? Or are you sorry your actions got your butt chewed, your wallet (somewhat) emptied and put your team in a points hole, costing yourself and a team mate at a chance for the dash for cash?

I'll believe it when I see it. This is the same guy who absolutely dumped Jack Smith (no relation) to win the Winchester 400 in 2021 - he still won because even though he got sent to the tail for it, the lapped cars just waved him by, so he didn't really get penalized.

Actions not words. It’s going to take a few years to build respectability for him

Good first start. He’s a very young guy he is going to be impulsive and make mistakes though that doesn’t excuse anything. If he actually learned from this and betters himself I can see myself rooting for him.

Cocky dumbass got put in his place by NASCAR and probably by Dale or Kelly afterward.

And this is why we don't have hardly any drivers with personality in the sport. As soon as someone does anything remotely interesting they get come down on

NASCAR is a sport after all. Sports require you display your talent, and once you get rewarded for not using talent, then it isn’t a sport anymore.

My guess is that Jr has probably also had quite the conversation with Sammy as well
