Apparition Ghosts CAN hurt you!
This is a wild one from my childhood:
I think I was about 7 years old and had just gotten my first real bicycle. I was allowed to ride it on my street only, but you know how kids are and soon I was wrapping around the end to a side street. I met this little girl on another bicycle, and she looked to be the same age as me. Somehow we started throwing rocks down the street to see who could throw the furthest and she said to me, "I bet you can't hit that lamp over there!" as she pointed at a very fancy lamp on someone's walkway. Well, I took that dare, pulled my arm back and let go. I hit it alright. Shattered the glass all over their sidewalk! Immediately, the front door of the house flew open and an old lady came out yelling, "Why did you do that?!" I turned to look for the little girl and she had already pedalled off. I took off in the other direction back to my house and didn't tell anyone.
Now, I did not have my own room and had to sleep on Grandma's couch (long story). She had ONE rule: Turn the tv off before you fall asleep. If not, you lose privileges. She went through the Great Depression so was tight about everything. So everyone went to bed upstairs and it was only me downstairs on the couch under my blanket. I always had trouble sleeping in that house, so I would watch tv late into the night. All of a sudden, the tv went off. Now it was not a remote control tv, just a 19" RCA color. But I could still see that the power was on outside the house and the electric clock was still ticking. Within seconds, a figure appeared to be coming out of Grandma's curio cabinet that was to the right of the tv (couch was on the left). I could see a woman form and it was walking towards me. I WAS TERRIFIED! I ducked under my blanket and covered my head. I heard very loudly, "WHY DID YOU DO THAT? WHY DID YOU BREAK THAT LAMP?" The sound was so loud in my right ear like her mouth was up against the blanket. I was shaking like crazy and sweating. Then, the ghost grabbed my right bicep and squeezed really hard and repeated, "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?".
Instantly, the tv came back on and it was over. I spent the rest of the night under the blanket and would not even peep out. Sweat was pouring off of me because it was a hot summer night, but I was not turning that tv off. I thought that as long as it was on, the ghost wasn't coming back to hurt me again.
I heard Grandma get up at dawn, walk down stairs, and call my name as she shut off the tv. "I though I told you not to leave the tv on!" I jumped up and hugged her and told her why it was on and her jaw dropped and she said, "Oh come on now! Don't lie to me!" Then I showed her my arm which now had a big bruise on it. Suddenly, she looked shocked for a moment. I thought surely she had to believe me now. But instead, she looked down at the floor and said, "You were dreaming and fell off the couch. Don't leave the tv on again." and hurried into the kitchen.
(I am sorry this is so long but I want to tell it all)
Mom then woke up and came downstairs. I ran to her and said, "Mom I have to tell you something right now before you go in the kitchen, come here." And I whispered to her about what happened. Mom nodded her head and said, "The reason Grandma got upset is you saw her mom - your Great Grandmother who you never got to meet. She passed away a long time ago and has never left this house. We've all seen her at times. She was watching over you because she loves you."
So bottom line is this: ghosts CAN connect with you and physically harm you as it happened to me. It was NOT a dream and falling of the couch 12 inches to thick carpet isn't going to cause a giant bruise on a boy.

They can! I got my hair pulled when I was 17 to the point I was pulled back and fell on the floor. I was in Galveston, TX and my mom took me on a ghost tour since there wasn’t much else for us to do. I thought it was the stupidest thing ever, and spent the whole night being an angsty teen, rolling my eyes at everything.
We went to this bar that used to be a brothel, and they said that the ghosts of the women would try to scare women that came in the bar. Of course, I rolled my eyes again at it and stood in the corner. My mom went to the bar to get a drink while I hung out and waited for her to finish it watching other people. I was a few steps away from anyone else and from the wall, looking at my phone, when something yanked my hair so hard I fell backwards and landed on the floor. Immediately, I got up, yelled to my mom that I was going to wait outside. She laughed at me the whole walk back to the hotel after I told her what happened and why I ran out. But it still gives me the goosebumps whenever I think about it, and this was 12 years ago.

I have to agree with your mom, you had a visitation. Your great grandmother was angry that you misbehaved and broke the light. She was scolding you.

Yep, that's all it was because it never happened again (I straightened up! Hahaha).

I've heard many stories about ghost trying to kill people. Personally I experience two attacks

Can you make a post about them? I would like to hear the details of your experiences.

Oh I've posted them many times before. One was me going into a cemetery piss drunk and I started to talk to the graves. 2 ghost followed me home and were outside mad. Apparently the usually docile ghost that lived in our house got into an argument with the other ghost. She later attacked me at night bite my head. At a later time a male ghost threw pillow at me

Seriously disturbing story but quite believable. Excellent, to the point writing as well. I've never had nor know of anyone who has had a similar experience so I can't say ghosts can or can't hurt you. I suppose anything in the paranormal realm is feasible tho.
Unfortunately, I'm having trouble with a great grandmother ghost causing injury after "mom" said " she loves you". GG mother needs to slow her roll on this one. Thanks for sharing a very interesting story.

I think my Mom meant it as she was watching over me and correcting my bad behavior. Gotta tell ya, I didn't break anymore lights after that, and I also never saw her again. Mom also told me the story about how she heard lots of banging downstairs around midnight and she came down to see the kitchen cabinet doors opening and slamming. Not one at a time, but ALL of them! That happened years earlier.

It WAS a dream; you may have rolled in a way to pinch the arm in your sleep, or while you were awake if you kept rubbing or poking it, it would get a bruise, or could be from chucking the rock to hard/at an awkward angle (you can throw out you arm that way, and giant bruises can form)

Maybe but highly unlikely from a medical standpoint.

So from a medical standpoint, it was more likely a ghost?

Maybe. Wasn't there and neither were you. Take it at face value. You downvote people bcuz their responses don't match yours? I really don't care. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Just because we weren’t there doesn’t mean we can’t use critical thinking. If someone runs up to me and says they saw a flying bear with chainsaw hands, I’m going to assume they did not, in fact, see that. Despite not being there myself.

We are not talking flying bears with chainsaws. The subject is ghosts. Flying bears a definite no. Ghosts? Maybe.

u/MrBones_Gravestone 5h ago
How do you know flying bears are a definite no? Because you’ve never seen them? If ghosts don’t need proof beyond “trust me bro”, then neither do flying bears

u/SpotMiserable3379 5h ago
Lmao. Seriously? So much for critical thinking. Ok..so ghosts and flying bears exist and let's throw in aliens, Bigfoot, whatever you want. Lololol

That’s the point I’m making: there’s no proof for any of those things, so “medically speaking” something other than “ghosts” is likely what happened.

The bruise could have been sustained from the bike or anything other posters mentioned. ( wasn't there...didn't witness it) The bruise could have been an overly zealous GGMother (ghost?) who loved OP soooo much she inflicted a bruise?. (wasn't there...didn't see it) I believe In some paranormal events. Some I don't. I'm not here to decide what is real. I'm here to give my opinion as to what MY critical thinking lends itself to as a better sense of reality or even probability.

More likely, new bike, awkward moves, minor bumps bruises from the handlebars, but your explanation fits within my proffered comment.

Also fits. Once you start looking for bruises/cuts/scratches you’ll find them

Larger picture is the suspected reason for the narrative memory described by the OP.
I have a family member with lingering deep resentment towards my parents. I have tried to make him understand the generational reasons for their benign neglect and self centeredness, and his deceptive narrative memories, and useless, empty bitterness he harbors towards them decades later.

You had a dream in which your subconcious was processing your fears over the consequences of irresponsible behaviors. Its not clear whether ot not 5he young girl you claimed to have met, and goaded you inton8mpulsive action, actually existed.
Hypnogogic dreams, combined with new bike, childhood tendency to bumps, scrapes and bruises, is not very compelling evidence of paranormal activity here.
Yout Grandma controlled her anger over your lack of responsibility in following her rules, in her house, where you and your mother were living gratis, in turning off the TV as you were told.
Likely, you were looking for an explanation for your fears over the neighbors anger over the broken outdoor light, and for leaving on the TV, which rightfully angered your Grandmother. Your mother tried to buffer your confusion over being called out for fabrication, and gave you another explanation, a great grandmother, who may or maynot have manifested in the house, but which sakved your hurt from your Grandmothers response.
The larger picture here:
Your experiences not paranormal, and is typical for kids going thru emotionally difficult circumstances in being displaced from their home, in acting out, then looking to deflect adult anger away from themselves.
We alter memories as children, to avoid guilt, emotional pain and anxiety, generating a narrative story that relieves stress over the main circumstances of your presence in your grandmothers home, and obviates remorse for resulting misbehaviors.
