He didn't bankrupt 4 casinos, that's an outright lie. He bankrupted 6 casinos.

You can make a lot of money by going bankrupt and leaving investors holding the bag.

“With the right show you could make more money with a flop than with a hit!”

u/dancegoddess1971 20h ago

Now I think I should find The Producers streaming somewhere this weekend. Been a minute since I watched it.

"Even though we're standing down, we're giving you a standing ovation!"

11

u/Automatic_Net2181 22h ago

This was always my thought. There was a reason for the bankruptcies and it all suggests corruption.

9

u/elkab0ng 20h ago

A combination of incompetence and criminal behavior is …. possibly a reasonable assumption when you remember he’s got dozens of felony convictions and is banned from doing business in certain areas due to, yep, fraud.

u/czerwona-wrona 1h ago

it's not necessarily even incompetence if he really didn't care about running it well in the first place.

similarly this trade war is probably not intended to help anyone but himself somehow

1

u/evemeatay 4h ago

Sure but casinos are basically money printers during the right times in recent history. I feel like you could make a lot more just not going bankrupt in that case

31

u/SingleMaltMouthwash 22h ago

Also crashed companies selling vodka (for chrissakes), water, beef, air travel, a football team, a bicycle race, a magazine, mortgages and paid $25million to settle allegations of running a fraudulent university.

Oh, and he was convicted of running a business that stole money from kids with cancer in the guise of a fraudulent charity.

The last election was an IQ test and America failed.

We didn't get the government we needed but we sure did get the government we deserved. Sometimes your only purpose in life is to serve as an example to others. I hope the rest of the world takes note.

6

u/Automatic_Net2181 19h ago

There are tens of millions of people who don't deserve this or what will happen from this administration. But those who voted for him and those that could vote, but didn't vote, deserve every single bad thing that will happen to them.

1

u/DidIReallySayDat 18h ago

Sometimes your only purpose in life is to serve as an example to others.

Heh, trump being useless and still becoming he president twice might not be the example you're thinking of.

8

u/Logical_Range_7830 21h ago

How do you go bankrupt selling vodka? People are going to gamble and drink alcohol. He screwed up on both.

31

u/Far-9947 23h ago

I was just about to comment this. I saw a post yesterday that said 6, and one a few weeks ago that said 7. The lowest I have seen someone go is 5. Why the hell would OP lower it even more to make that pos look slightly better?

14

u/Dani_vic 22h ago

I honestly always thought it was 2 Atlantic City casinos. And 2 was already awful.

2

u/Capable_Swordfish701 18h ago

From what I remember it was the tower, Taj Mahal and marina. So 3.

6

u/300Savage 20h ago

Six hotels and casinos. I think there were at least 4 casinos or combined hotel/casino businesses.

8

u/jvd0928 22h ago

And Trump steaks. Trump wine. Trump suppositories.

6

u/revdon 19h ago

At least the Trump vacuums didn’t suck…

3

u/ledeblanc 17h ago

Dude should market diapers

7

u/Impossible_Walrus555 22h ago

It was 4 casinos 6 separate bankruptcies including his casinos as one of 6.

4

u/pareech 21h ago

The six bankruptcies were the result of over-leveraged hotel and casino businesses in Atlantic City and New York: Trump Taj Mahal (1991), Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino (1992), Plaza Hotel (1992), Trump Castle Hotel and Casino (1992), Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts (2004), and Trump Entertainment Resorts (2009). Trump said "I've used the laws of this country to pare debt. ... We'll have the company. We'll throw it into a chapter. We'll negotiate with the banks. We'll make a fantastic deal. You know, it's like on The Apprentice. It's not personal. It's just business."

Is it a lie though? He did bankrupt 4, then went on to bankrupt two more. Electing him wasn’t just smart, it was like 8 dimensional Russian roulette.

2

u/dancegoddess1971 20h ago

Is that the game where only one chamber is empty and the gun is a howitzer?

2

u/ffmich01 15h ago

8 of them

3

u/obxtalldude 22h ago

Yep - just checked to make sure. Google has the receipts.

2

u/returnofthequack92 21h ago

Don’t forget the USFL!

2

u/RedHeadSteve 21h ago

So he did 4, but that's just not all.

2

u/FeistyButthole 17h ago

He was just warming up. Now he’s working on bankrupting six continents!

1

u/CliftonForce 20h ago

To be fair, the goal was to bankrupt them as part of a family tax fraud scheme.

This is not an endorsement.

1

u/motoxim 11h ago

I figured it's probably some 4D chess to enrich himself?

1

u/TheNewYellowZealot 20h ago

Well, it’s not an outright lie. It’s just not the whole truth

102

u/BigBoyYuyuh 23h ago

News: Trump crashed the markets.

Karoline Leavitt: Fake news. The president did not crash the market. That was Joe Biden.

Trump: I CRASHED THE MARKET ON PURPOSE!

Every fucking day

18

u/DeanOnFire 22h ago

I will pledge fealty to the first reporter that asks her point-blank if she is either knowingly lying or completely clueless. We the People (who are paying attention) know she's full of it, but I want someone on the record to tell it to her face.

Press permissions are getting pulled anyway for Right-Wing bloggers, may as well go down swinging.

7

u/jinsaku 20h ago

Problem is.. that’s very likely not only a career ender but also would get your outfit blackballed from the White House Press Conferences for the rest of the term. For just a sound bite, nobody is going to risk that.

2

u/dancegoddess1971 20h ago

That journalist could be our next president.

10

u/Gang_Violence 22h ago

It’s so insane lol

u/Gary_The_Strangler 1d ago

It takes a special kind of stupid to think trump could win a trade war with the rest of the world when he has already lost a trade war with only China.

2

u/lilbithippie 18h ago

Wars are usually trying to do something. Annex land, procure resources, stop genocide of a group. Trump seemingly has no goal here. Just start some shit and see what happens I guess?? Because he never said tarrifs are going to drop tax for us, with higher prices he is going to socialize medicine. What do we the people get with all of his winning?

24

u/Khunning_Linguist 23h ago

7

u/DangerousBill 22h ago

You can make a lot of money going bankrupt. Your investors hold the bag.

4

u/Intelligent-Fuel-641 I ☑oted 2024 21h ago

The only surprising part of that is he went twelve years between bankruptcies. I wonder who was funding his operations during that time.

16

u/VoxCacophoni 23h ago

Part of me wonders if this isn't just him flailing around and going "I meant to do that".

On one hand, he's so obsessively narcissistic that he won't contemplate admitting a mistake, but on the other he's so massively corrupt, malicious and self-serving that running the entire economy onto the rocks so he can pick the bones is entirely within his warped character.

17

u/MongoBongoTown 22h ago

IMO people who think this is some big master plan, either malicious or benevolent, are out of their mind.

He's a moron, the people around him are morons. Sure, some mega corporate donors probably want tariffs to serve their own self interest, but it also lets him play big, tough, strong leader and bully others on an economic level.

This idea that he's playing master manipulator in either direction just isnt supported by any other piece of evidence we've seen.

We do however have piles and piles of evidence that he's an absolute idiot, surrounded by idiots, who just do stuff from the hip because they think it sounds good. So, that seems way more likely to me.

5

u/VoxCacophoni 22h ago

At this point, it seems impossible to tell what they were trying to do, they've made such a colossal pig's arse out of things.

5

u/craigsler 22h ago

They are imbeciles, to be sure.

But don't forget about Project2025. There is a plan in play, and they're following the steps pretty closely so far.

Much of it involves wreaking havoc and chaos. I'd say they're carrying it out pretty successfully thus far.

3

u/Substantial-Sky3597 22h ago

This all day. They call it “evil” because of his narcissism, which makes everything he does look like an evil plan but it really isn’t. He’s an idiot who surrounds himself with obedient idiots who all shoot from the hip based on absolutely no experience, no training, and no skill set towards any of the things they have control over.

That is all that’s happening here.

3

u/bob4apples 21h ago

This is exactly that. The noises that come out of Trump's fry hole mean nothing except that that is what Trump thinks will make him look better to the person in front of him at that moment.

12

u/promote-to-pawn 23h ago

Trade war against the entire world, that seems winnable

12

u/Personal_titi_doc 1d ago

6, and honestly, the american stock market is a casino, so I would argue 7.

15

u/dmullaney 1d ago

The House always wins avoids having to pay its debts

7

u/Additional-Brief-273 1d ago

Oh just wait till Black Monday 2025 you ain’t seen nothing yet.

5

u/moschocolate1 22h ago

It seems they’re doing this on purpose so he and his billionaire buddies can scoop up real estate, stocks, etc at low prices. Am I crazy for thinking this?

2

u/NeonArlecchino 21h ago

Nah, you're right. Some people just want to believe that Trump is the type of moron who can't wipe his own ass so claim everything he does is done out of sheer stupidity. They're right he's an idiot, but such a belief erases the evil people around him who help guide his actions and/or advise/tell him what to do. It's like they forgot Project 2025 exists.

1

u/Dawnchaffinch 22h ago

Trying to lower rates. Crashing economy before inflation rips is the reason for the speed run. And of course what you said

12

u/TentacleFist 23h ago

Millions of votes were thrown out and voter registrations purged, especially in swing states.our election was stolen right in front of us and our leaders just rolled over to the coup. This is an illegitimate presidency.

3

u/treker32 21h ago

4.6 million votes thrown out by a corrupt political party and the MS corporate news media remained silent.

4

u/Negative_Amphibian_9 21h ago

“I’m sexy”

15

u/Peroovian 1d ago

I bet he says he shits his pants on purpose too

8

u/Leraldoe 1d ago

Well we all do that for fun

3

u/Mazon_Del 23h ago

You see, here's the thing about that idea... someone might say "Well, if he said that's what he wanted to do, then the market just wouldn't react and it would ruin the strategy.", except that people would STILL have reacted to the tariffs in the exact same way.

It doesn't matter if they thought he was doing it on purpose, doing it without realizing, or doing it because he thought the Flying Spaghetti Monster told him to. What matters is that the prices went up so companies have to respond.

So given that him saying ahead of time wouldn't change anything even slightly, if you choose to believe him, you must also provide an answer for why a man who virtually ALWAYS tells you ahead of time what he's going to do, didn't say a word about it this time?

3

u/orincoro 23h ago edited 21h ago

A “trade war” is stupid terminology because it implies someone wins. Everyone loses in a trade war. It’s more of a “trade punch yourself in the face contest.”

1

u/Ch3cksOut 21h ago

But USA is losing yuugest

1

u/orincoro 21h ago

Go big or go home.

3

u/dishonorable_banana 22h ago

I'd hope that most Trump voters don't agree with and didn't vote to crash the economy. This is a clear sign that they don't care about future votes....O.I.R.

3

u/Woyaboy 21h ago

And yet, Republicans prove that the bar will just get lower and lower for what they are willing to believe from their deity.

2

u/villianrules 22h ago

Unfortunately it's a win as long as the undesirables are suffering

2

u/NeonArlecchino 21h ago

Don't forget making the wealthy wealthier. They may not be doing anything with their money, but they sure want more of it!

2

u/chickberry33 22h ago

IMHO ..He did steal the election of 24 with Elon..because he wanted to hurt us all. He has not been shy about sharing his revenge plans. Pure hate and evil with a red tie and a gang of thieves to assist. People thought it would bring lib tears so they cheered him on. Turns out he meant the whole world.

2

u/jdtrouble 22h ago

Disaster capitalism

2

u/Unafraid_AlphaWolf 22h ago

Wait did he say that?

2

u/ipsi-dixit 21h ago

It takes a special kind of stupid to impose tariffs on an island that does not export goods.

1

u/Master-of-Coin 22h ago

He killed a whole football league! There is a documentary on it too!

1

u/Zeyode 22h ago

I think this might be the first time I've seen a version of this meme that wasn't just shit-talking minorities

1

u/William_Wang 21h ago

What kind of genius do you think it takes to crash the market and then buy stuff while its down?

It wasn't a secret tariffs would do this.

1

u/ha5htaq 20h ago

This person is just bad how can you see anything good in it no idea

1

u/victorbarst 20h ago

Can someone in his cabinet please ask him to confirm that he understand the country can't declare bankruptcy? Because I'm not convinced he's not purposefully trying to drive the country into bankruptcy to try to get us a bailout and I'm not he understands there's no bailout for a country

1

u/damageddude 20h ago

I'm afraid to look at my daughter's college portfollio. What I have in cash is enough to pay for public university, not the private university she wants to go to.

1

u/DaveinOakland 20h ago

And a University which is kind of more impressive

Literally the two businesses that seem unfuckupable are schools and casinos.

1

u/This-Establishment35 18h ago

He’s getting rid of the immigrants and bringing back manufacturing all while crashing the economy and creating even greater wealth gaps, so that every American can all have a nice union free factory job! The American Dream! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

1

u/Wheatabix11 18h ago

Well, if you’re a corporation or just really wealthy this is just a buying dip. If you’re like most of us it‘s an unemployment dip. So much buying wealthliness in the golden age of the magaliciousness.

1

u/ChuckThisNorris 16h ago

Fun fact:

9 of the 10 worst single-day crashes in the Dow Jones happened while Donald Trump was president.

1

u/ruddy3499 15h ago

I’m picturing him in high waters with his thumbs in his suspenders saying Did I do that?

1

u/firelock_ny 15h ago

Here's a short list of bankrupt Las Vegas casinos:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Defunct_casinos_in_the_Las_Vegas_Valley

There's 63 of them on this list.

People who think running a casino is an automatic pass to print money don't know much about casinos.

1

u/Leraldoe 14h ago

Thanks for providing a list of defunct casinos no where near a list of bankrupt casinos. The Dunes didn’t file for bankruptcy, the owner closed it instead of upgrading it. Building the Bellagio in its place. Some will have bankrupted but not all of these.

1

u/silsum 15h ago

Really stupid kind.

1

u/HecticHermes 15h ago

Don't forget about the fraudulent Trump University. The one graduating class has the honor of taking a photo with ..... A cardboard cutout of Trump.

1

u/Prometheus_303 12h ago

Why do you think they're trying to kill the Department of Education

So there will be even more who fall into the "special kind of" category to expand their voter base to keep them in power.

1

u/bernd1968 10h ago

True !!!
