Like him or hate him there is no arguing that Trump is a Russian asset. By definition

Hmm, I wonder why Russia hates Switzerland. Looks like they also hate Moldova, Kosovo, Bosnia-Hercegovina and Serbia

u/alucarddrol 18h ago
LOL because eu's tarrifs are calculated as a group, but the rest are calculated seperately
this is so funny

Glad they imposed tariffs on Antarctica. The people there have been stealing from us for far too long.

Has anyone asked the press secretary why there are no tarrifs on Russia?
Could the orange be any more obvious?

u/llamapositif 21h ago
Did Russia also bring Trump an invitation for tea with the king to butter him up?
Oh, wait, that was money and fear. They brought money and fear.

u/alucarddrol 18h ago
Trump has decided to be the ultimate PRO-EU leader there has ever been.
These countries might actually start to think about getting in if this doesn't go away

Obligatory I Hate Trump.
The US has Russia under trade sanctions already. Trade with them (and North Korea for that matter) is very highly curtailed already. It makes sense that they'd be handled under a different category than tariffs.
This keep getting repeated like it's a gotcha. It's not. If MAGA ever knew facts, we'd look stupid for saying this. So far none of them seem to have noticed, but shut up about this before they do.

u/specqq 17h ago
We had over 3 billion of trade with Russia in 2024.
Pretending like it doesn’t matter that the Trump administration put punitive tariffs on countries that did less than that while ignoring Russia (and Russia’s lapdog Belarus) is ridiculous.

u/ratbastid 16h ago edited 16h ago
And we had $762 billion of total trade with Canada. Perspective matters.
If Russian trade is already regulated down to a trickle, that's the punishment.
We really want this to mean he's a Putin puppet--and I'm not saying he's not!--but this isn't evidence of that, and we sound dumb when we say it is.
(And I say that as a pee tape believer.)
EDIT: I missed your Belarus callout there. Already under trade sanctions. 2024 total imports: $21 million. My argument stands.
FURTHER EDIT: I'm also not saying that the tariffs on smaller trade partners makes any sense. Some of them are penguins; it's all bullshit. But Russia being missing from the list simply doesn't mean what we seem to want to make it mean.

So why did we put a tariff on Angola where we only had 2.6 Billion in trade and a lower overall trade deficit?
The formula they used to come up with these tariffs aimed to wipe out every trade deficit we have in the world. But somehow it didn't worry about the 2.5 Billion trade deficit with Russia.
I think we sound dumb when we excuse that.

Don't we have sanctions on Iran and Venezuela? Why were they on the list?

Hello! Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately it has been removed because you don't meet our karma threshold.
You are not being removed for political orientation. If we were, why the fuck would we tell you your comment was being removed instead of just shadow removing it? We never have, and never will, remove things down politicial or ideological lines. Unless your ideology is nihilism, then fuck you.
Let me be clear: The reason that this rule exists is to avoid unscrupulous internet denizens from trying to sell dong pills to our users. /r/PoliticalHumor mods reserve the RIGHT to hoard all of the dong pills to ourselves, and we refuse to share them with the community. If you want Serbo-Slokovian dong pills mailed directly to your door, become a moderator. If we shared the dong pills with the greater community, everyone would have massive dongs, and like Syndrome warned us about decades ago: "if everyone has massive dongs, nobody does.""
If you wish to rectify your low karma issue, go and make things up in /r/AskReddit like everyone else does.
Thanks for understanding! Have a nice day and be well. <3

I hate this garbage excuse for a human more than most, but the reality of this is Russia is already sanctioned for trade

u/Optimal_Mouse_7148 17h ago
TO BE FAIR..... Its because Russia is not trading with the US anyway. And they are already under a bunch of sanctions. They are not "excluded" because they are best friends.
Altho that is funnier.

u/TheOnceandFuture 16h ago
I haven't looked into this too hard, but isn't there a full embargo on Russia? Like we aren't trading anything with them so the deficit is 0?

u/BreakfastFluid9419 21h ago
Do we need to tariff countries we have trade embargo’s with? Or perhaps we already have tariffs on any goods we may receive from them?
6
u/AKMarine 21h ago
We get Lime, Base Metals, Iron, Steel, Tools, Stone, Glass, Metals, Pearls, and over 50% of our Cement import from Russia.
And, we only increased tariffs on some of the metals and base metals from Russia.
From anybody looking at this objectively, favoritism towards Russia is apparent.

u/Average_Scaper 21h ago
I wisb Russia wasn't led by such a shithole government and we could have proper relations with them.

He tariffed Iran and they have sanctions. I'm not at all sorry to tell you that Donald loves Vlad and wants to be just like him
