Look I don't care when he goes to prison so long as he dies there.

u/Derptholomue 12h ago

There are three certainties I have come to accept on this earth:

  1. I will die
  2. I will pay taxes until I die
  3. Donald Trump will never be held accountable for anything he did in life.

  1. I will piss on his grave, and take a dump if I have enough time.

He’s 50+ years older than me, I swear on everything in my life I will piss on his grave before I go.

u/really_not_unreal 1h ago

It's on my bucket list for sure. I wonder if there's money to be made from a business where people mail urine and you pour it out on his grave...

yes I know this is illegal, I'm only joking

No Advocating Violence (Rule #11):

  • According to Reddit Terms of Service, advocating violence of any type, for any reason, is not allowed under any circumstances.

    • Do not trivialize violence for internet points.

The 4th best time would have been before his 3rd inauguration. The 5th best time is before he suspends the constitution and nukes Belgium.

FTFY.

400

u/thegreatsquare 16h ago

The NY judge Merchan with the conviction in hand could have sentenced Trump before the election as well.

155

u/musclememory 16h ago

I’m sorry, but that wouldn’t have been justice -for that case-. Of course Trump should’ve gone to trial for Jan 6 & Docs cases, but it was ultimately the Supreme Court that nixed those.

108

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 15h ago

Any justice is better than none. And so far, he's gotten none.

And no, being convicted a felon but getting zero punishment for it doesn't count as "justice".

19

u/musclememory 14h ago

I agree he deserved justice and likely won’t get it, but, that particular set of crimes and conviction wasn’t worthy of a prison sentence, honestly, if you look at other like cases, and treat him like them (which is how it should be).

I’m saying the real miscarriage of justice was in the Jan 6 & Docs cases, which were interfered with numerous times by SC & Judge Cannon.

I’d also rate the Trump vs State of Colorado SC ruling as laughably and ridiculously empty and unjust (not to mention unconstitutional).

17

u/Boner_Elemental 15h ago

Why wouldn't getting sentenced have been justice for that case?

5

u/musclememory 14h ago

Because that conviction didn’t warrant a prison sentence, if you compare like charges and circumstances. You have to apply the law equally, despite how repugnant the person is.

16

u/Boner_Elemental 14h ago

It did. It was the same crime his lawyer went to jail for

-3

u/musclememory 13h ago

I understand that they are related, but...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosecution_of_Donald_Trump_in_New_York

these just aren't exactly the same

10

u/Boner_Elemental 13h ago

Thanks for pointing out they are

17

u/Brettersson 16h ago edited 15h ago

Wouldn't have been nearly as impactful as a Federal conviction, but couldn't have hurt.

40

u/XRT28 15h ago

I mean yes Garland was a feckless coward but WE, as in collectively the voting eligible citizens of this country, also blew it.

It was clear by the time the election rolled around that consequences for his actions would not arrive in time through the courts. So did we vote to keep him out of office to give the courts more time?
Nope. Instead, just like Garland, the voters refused to do what was needed of them in that moment and act in the best interest of ourselves and this country so here we are.

21

u/notsure500 15h ago

More than one person can blow it. If America voted for Kamala instead of Trump, he'd spend rest of his life fighting legal troubles.

15

u/TheDude-Esquire 15h ago

Biden has a role in that. One for picking that milquetoast in the first place, and two for not insisting everyday that every crime of the trump administrative be investigated and prosecuted.

8

u/BizzyM 16h ago

We Merrick Garland had our chances and we he blew it Trump.

FTFY2

8

u/HitchensWasTheShit 15h ago

Could have protested like the south Koreans

2

u/Plants-Matter 13h ago

Valid point, but ultimately US voters decided they wanted a criminal to be president. It's not just a broken system. It's a broken electorate. And the system doesn't get fixed without a functional electorate.

1

u/-__echo__- 14h ago

Were you personally out on the street protesting during that time? Did you write letters and send emails to those in power and those that represent you? Did you help join groups to organise further action to galvanise support and protect democracy?

No?

Then you blew it too. Everyone blew it. When people are lazy and hope that democracy will just sort itself out without even the mildest effort or exertion... then it invites in creatures like Trump.

Across the pond we blew it too, though our equivalent was busily at war with the other right wing party and divided the vote. We were saved by their own incompetence.

We have all been found wanting.

3

u/MountainDog7903 9h ago

It might feel good to do those things but they are inconsequential. Direct action is the only solution but it requires a type of courage and in many cases self sacrifice that humans are only good at conjuring in the heat of the moment.

2

u/-__echo__- 6h ago

Oh they work, I mean look at the recent example of France. To pretend otherwise is to try and sound dramatic to let yourself off the hook. NOW it's too late for you, absolutely. But before you handed the country to a fascist project those tools were totally functional.

To pretend that, from the very start, the only path out of this mess was a violent act at the hands of some martyr is childish and told simply to make you feel better for having done nothing.

Prevention is better than cure, and you are right that at this point prevention no longer works. Your magical thinking which absolves you of personal responsibility however... is a comforting lie.

I'm laughing because not even you are stupid enough to think he's actually guilty. You know you just want to jail your political enemy and you know this makes you a morally corrupt hypocrite. I'm laughing at your cope.

And BTW I'm just a regular a-hole, not a Christian.

9

u/GrayEidolon 15h ago

It is not just trump! He’s basically nothing in the grand scheme.

He's doing it because the tech fascist subset of conservatives have decided they're done with democracy and want feudalism. Listen to the Behind The Bastards episode about Curtis Yarvin. Watch "DARK GOTHIC MAGA: How Tech Billionaires Plan to Destroy America" on youtube.

1

u/MountainDog7903 9h ago

allowing anyone such amounts of wealth and the power it buys will break the system.

2

u/upvotechemistry 12h ago

It isn't over yet. It's time to take to the streets. Make these spineless cowards in congress force him and his cronies out. They are more afraid of Trump and his mob than they are the people they say they serve, but whom they actually rob from.

Demand impeachments. They need to be afraid of us

1

u/thegreatsquare 11h ago

I would love for this to end peacefully through such legal procedures, but a GOP House won't impeach and a GOP Senate won't convict. It is just not the available path.

I'm sure the streets play a part, but Trump has his yes men and women set up to run hard and he has the GOP kowtowed under the cult of personality ...maybe not everyone, but enough of them.

This isn't set up to end peacefully through legal procedures. Historically, there's just no way laws alone get to be the path by which this situation is rectified.

1

u/upvotechemistry 11h ago

I'm talking about something more like popular revolt or general strike. Farmers hauling truckloads of shit to politicians' houses or state houses, blocking commerce with heavy equipment, mass military insubordination... we cannot wait until 2026 midterms. The clock is ticking.

2

u/thegreatsquare 11h ago edited 11h ago

We can't wait, but the least violent path is probably to spook 3 GOP Reps with tight margins of victory to flip parties and with it the House. That gets extending the tax cuts hostage and Trump can be put on a short leash. Barring that, Trump wants to take the strongman path and with Hegseth and Bondi backing him, protesters will start getting shot and martial law imposed.

1

u/upvotechemistry 11h ago

I agree with you - flip real conservative Rs who won't abide by a king. As ugly as it sounds, an American Tiennamen Square sooner would be better than later, before the frog in the pot completely boils. I mean, surely seeing something like THAT would shake loose 3 Republicans? Right?

2

u/thegreatsquare 10h ago

I was hoping 15 point drops in those Florida elections, a ~7k drop in the Dow [...so far], the Doge backlash, the pending services crash in Social Security ...and probably elsewhere...

...all that, hopefully it weighs enough on its own to do it before it all takes a darker turn.

1

u/upvotechemistry 10h ago

Probably 100,000 people were protesting today across the country. People are still getting fired, and there is no reason to think that will slow down now. NOAA and FEMA are in the cross hairs as historic flooding begins in the deepest red of Trump country

The Sunday news shows should be very interesting tomorrow. If Trump admin goons fail to stabilize sentiments, the market free fall will continue Monday

2

u/thegreatsquare 10h ago edited 10h ago

We're still in the beginning of the beginning of all this. Think of [the] length of the civil rights struggle and the Vietnam protests. These things rarely play out in a few months and Trump has current claim to the office until January 2029. Trump isn't mature enough to play the long game. Trump is impatient and unless there's a GOP break, it's gonna get hot in the summer.

1

u/upvotechemistry 10h ago

It's already hot and getting hotter

1

u/Mike_Kermin 7h ago

Well then make a new fucking chance numb nuts.

Time doesn't stop going mate, you'll gonna have to unfuck your country eventually.

1

u/s7umpf 7h ago

Supreme Court ruled that as President you stand above the law. So you can‘t get rid of him by playing the by the rules. So either take it or make him go away.

454

u/NCMathDude 19h ago

28% of the country voted for this, this we can fuck right off.

6

u/Kasoni 16h ago

Lazy. Sure a lot of stupid people voted, but a lot more lazy ones stayed home and didn't vote.

2

u/Frostlandia 10h ago

Nah... He should probably go to prison for the crimes he committed

437

u/smackfrog 17h ago

He was indicted by a grand jury 4x. That's worse than being arrested. Time for something else.

152

u/Ertai2000 17h ago

Apparently not only it isn't worse than being arrested, it's pretty much meaningless.

9

u/dasgoodshitinnit 6h ago

It's a fucking joke of a system

33

u/mattbrvc 14h ago

Someone tried something else and he missed by a few inches.

32

u/TheVog 13h ago

It was staged. Notice how they stopped talking about it immediately after? Like within a week. Twice. If it was real they would've milked that for months.

21

u/all___blue 11h ago

So obviously staged. As soon as I heard he was shot at and wasn't killed, my first reaction before I even saw the video was " i bet it was staged." After I watched it, there was no question. I think i even laughed. You're telling me that audience members see the shooter minutes before the shot and the SS not only doesn't shoot him, but doesn't warn trump? Trump just continues his speech while he's sitting in the cross hair of a sniper? As soon as the sniper fires, that's when the SS decides to shoot him? Somehow only clips his ear? Camera guy definitely wasn't waiting for him to come off the stage with a huge American flag as the back drop?

Such a fucking joke. Joke of a country. Fucking hate this place.

6

u/lIlIlIIlIIIlIIIIIl 5h ago

I agree there's absolutely no way that was all real not to mention they hosed down the roof the very next day or some sh*t. When do investigators clean crime scenes? Don't they hire hazmat cleaning companies? I wish there was a way to see if it even actually got close or if it was only ever aimed towards the crowd.

I also remember there being a lot of odd videos of people seeming oddly ready to film in that moment, people running towards the action instead of away and filming with their phones like they'd been waiting hours to capture that moment. Everyone else was ducking but these people were practically standing up to get these camera angles.

12

u/TheHighSeasPirate 13h ago

The SS wouldn't have ever allowed Trump to stand up with his fist in the air and shout "Fight, Fight, Fight" if it wasn't staged. That kid (who was in a fucking blackrock commercial) was hired to fire into the crowd and give his life. Trump cut his ear or got hit with shrapnel. Its so obvious too like you said, Trump never mentions it.

Did they actually run this? I'm having a hard time believing it.

279

u/-jp- 18h ago

Nah they made him man of the year instead.

239

u/burndata 17h ago

Just remember that person of the year has nothing to do with being good or bad, but rather it's the person they see as having had the largest impact on the world that year, good or bad. Hitler, Stalin and Nixon were all man of the year at one point.

105

u/-jp- 17h ago

But it has everything to do with recognition, which is the only thing Trump cares about.

8

u/RickThiccems 13h ago

What recognition is he going to gain? He is probably the most well known person on the planet.

2

u/-jp- 13h ago

What makes you think that is enough?

0

u/RickThiccems 13h ago

I'm not making the claim either way, Im just saying you are more likely to win a scratcher than you are to find someone who hasn't heard of them. So nothing was either gained or lost with the article.

2

u/-jp- 12h ago

You're not making a claim but I am. Donald Trump is a narcissist and giving him the Man of the Year Cover ten billion percent matters to him. Can you dispute that?

0

u/RickThiccems 12h ago

Are you a bot or something? Why are you so insistent on arguing? We agree so what is there to argue about? It's like you are programmed to go on the offensive or something.

2

Hello! Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately it has been removed because you don't meet our karma threshold.
