Birds of a feather, shitpost together Maybe the Dems should develop a platform based around something other than Orange Man Bad. Just a friendly suggestion.
39
u/bomland10 1d ago
Ugh, this is so dumb. Dems ran on a platform completely opposite of trump, spoke about it more than "Trump is bad." If y'all didn't pay attention, that's on you.
10
u/Busy-Cryptographer96 21h ago
They ran on reality, facts, an 88 page report of all the policies they wanted to help 100% of the population.
It was thoughtful, kind, merciful and had things in it that benefited every American
And it was ignored or rejected
Now.....everyone... bend over and assume the position

Not that anon but the Democrats were mostly running on a contrarian campaign against Trunp that was already old from his 2016 run. Democrats needed to run in more moderate policies like Bernie claimed such as better immigration/illegal drug reform, enforcing NATO payouts from other countries, and less kickbacks/reliance on Israel for intelligence in the Middle East.
Instead we pretty much got another, "Le Resistance" LARP and Kamala trying to kiss Netanyahu's ring harder than Trump. Plus you can only go "Vote Blue No Matter Who" for so long before people outside of leftists tune it out which led to the Republicans winning the House & Senate as well. While there are a lot of things Republicans & Democrats disafree on, it felt more like Democrats were stuck on reruns of their 2016 Media Circus while Trump was constantly leading them around the nose. Everyone knows trying to beat Trump with the Hollywood/TMZ Gaffe game is a fool's errand because he's been doing that for 40+ years on Reality TV which is all that cranked to 11.
TL;DR The democrats ran on old 2016 Anti-Trump Doctrine with a few shaky/hypocritical updates that had already gone stale on most of the voterbases plates. Sure Leftists & Liberals in Blue States ate it up wholesale but swing states were sick of the spew and just turned away to Trump over it all.

Well, the problem isn't the Dems just saying "Orange man bad", it's that when the Dems list all the compelling reasons for the orange man being bad, MAGA only has the intelligence and attention span to hear "orange man bad."

Legitimate reasons like...
attempting to overturn the election via the false elector scheme and instructing an angry mob (that he was told was armed by the secret service) to March on the senate after trump's sec Def disarmed the national guard. Then he tweeted calling out Mike pence during the riot and only called for the rioters to leave once Mike pence was secured? And then he pardoned people who attacked police during the riots
stealing sensitive national documents likely including nuclear secrets and information on Iran's missile programs (later his son received $2B from Saudi Arabia, hmmm) and then trying to hide them
his administration working with Russian spies (Andrei derkach and konstantin kilimnik) to try to influence American elections. Trying to exchange sanctions relief for political dirt. Coercing Ukraine into opening a fake investigation. Encouraging Russia to hack his political rivals. Getting massive loans from Deutsche bank who happened to get caught laundering Russian money
shit ass economic policies like the current tariffs, top heavy tax cuts in the tcja,
probably being a racist or at least using race as a divisional wedge between being found liable for discrimination in housing, being force to settle in a discriminayion case in his casino, taking a full page ad out to execute the central park 5, birtherism with a president who just happens to be black, making kneeling for the anthem out to be a matter of disrespect to the troops rather than discrimination in policing, only talking about the small percentage of violent protestors rather than the actual message of the majority of floyd protestors
being found liable of sexual assault, being a known associate of epstein, "grab em by the pussy", accused of violent rape by an ex wife during deposition
fraud university, fraudulent use of campaign funds to pay off a porn star he cheated on his pregnant wife with, NFT's, shitcoin, overpriced shoes/watches, selling meals with him for $1m, selling beans and teslas at the white house,
mismanaging covid including politicizing mask wearing and claiming that covid death rates were inaccurate on multiple ocassions.

Oh my god… I can’t believe it! I found someone with actual knowledge of Mueller’s report on Reddit! I’m so happy! The fact that you knew about Konstantin Kilimnik and Paul Manafort exchanging sensitive election data made my day.
Conservative pundits have gotten so good at equipping their consumers with thought-terminating bumper sticker slogans that allow them to confidently handwave criticism of Trump. Evidence for this claim is all over this thread.

The meme isn't the reason I think orange man bad. I think he's a piece of shit from all of the documented times bes actually been racist or sexist. Most of which happened before he started running for office to begin with.
Edit: he's also done a lot of shitty things as acting president. Like convinced everyone covid was a hoax. Then once we made any progress he tried to take credit for it pretending like he wasn't just on a man-hunt for Fauci for the last year.

I have no idea how Republicans convinced themselves all the polls showed Harris was ahead. It was always a toss-up.
And the main reason Trump won is because people had economic anxiety under Biden (lingering effects of COVID inflation). Now that Trump's response is just "hold my beer" and showing Herbert Hoover who's the real king of crashing the American economy, yeah, it's pretty certain Republicans are going to keep losing elections (like we're already seeing in the recent spring elections)

Maybe the Dems should develop a platform based around something other than Orange Man Bad.
No, actually that one was on-point. The problem was that Republicans made a very good point when they created the PR campaign flatly stating Democrats have made black people the center of their messaging for decades and their quality of life has only improved in this time by their own efforts.
In fact, Democrats may have crossed the line and made their lives worse by using them as pawns for their own political games.
I can't recall which video, but I remember seeing one where a black man was arguing with one of these clowns about trans issues and the guy literally says "but you're black," as if that's supposed to be a point, or as if it was a detail that was somehow missed by the black man.
Democrat politicians should have seen this coming from miles away, but they chose to ignore it instead. In the race to pull the largest voting base, at any cost, they lost the game for probably the next decade.
Republicans seem to adore their troll-in-chief, so clearly they were going to win. Trump will almost certainly end up with a third term because we still haven't learned that tweeting bad things about Trump, true or not, actually makes him more popular.

The GOP is mostly in complete control of this country (the Dems have no real power now aside from a few judges), and even Congressional Republicans have ceded their authority to Donald Trump. So if Trump is rooted in almost every initiative that occurs, it's hard to talk about anything meaningful without referencing Trump.

He also embarked on a wide range disinfo campaign in a style that curdles my blood. And I'm not talking politics when I say that. I saw this well before that ever happened, in another space... and oh god, how I wish I'd never noticed. It took a serious bite out of my mental wellness in a way I never thought it could, so, do yourself a huge favor and get a professional if EVER you discover such. Don't, play, hero.
...Now then...
I've spoken about the similarity before. Much as I dare do in a world where anything you write online can teach both the well-to-do and the ne'er-do-well. Suffice it to say... he isn't as unique as people claim. In fact it's downright jarring just how much he's borrowing from my old monster, but it's there. And it works.
He could behave crazier still and it'd still work btw. Or rather, we're still a ways away from the level of ludicrousness I saw, apart from that he's made it manifest in real life.
...
What I see the Dems do wrong, is fail to understand disinfo. Why it works, why being right alone isn't the answer. And online, I see a lot of higher than thou attitudes around this. They figured out they weren't falling for the false narration (read as "were insulated by politics for the same reason that it's sort of a lock on the door for the target group"), but failed utterly to realize that they aren't at all immune to the same. Responses have been structured like antagonistic flame wars, to which the understandable answer is "fuck off." Snide remarks like "fuck your feelings" go viral, but nobody wonders why that was the tack.
Not everyone is a good communicator, sure... but, some of it, both the crazy that claims to be democrat and the crazy that claims to be republican, has been so unhinged that I can't help but think there could be a second, subtler part to the attack. The (possibly fabricated) creation of a stereotype. A reinforcement of an enemy mentality.
...
So, I absolutely can't jump to blame the DNC or w/e. This is pretty wild as is, and just like before, the finger to point can't find the ones concretely to blame. We're too far outside of the usual.

u/GorcnorTheBarbarian 1d ago

I put my stack on the orange man being good. We will see after 4 years how everything ends up. Very optimistic about this so far, market deep = good, and tariffs on countries that have abusive tariffs against the US = good. The more you research, the more you realize America has turned into a source of free handouts to third-world countries that sometimes do not use the money as intended, undermining the efforts of hardworking American people. Sometimes our good intentions to help could be downplayed to the benefit of corrupt leaders in those countries. I support helping but with a purpose, like the quote "You scratch my back, and I scratch yours"

You know even though he did well for the GOP, it's really telling that the GOP didn't win by more in an actual landslide that gave them supermajorities in Congress.
I mean come on, we had high inflation an old man in the white house who was clearly struggling, stagnant wages, government deadlock and the best they could do was 4 Senate seats, and barely a majority in the house?
The Dems in the wake of the depression and the failure of the Hoover administration swept the congress and I mean decimated the GOP. Then in 2008 gained 60 seat majority in the Senate and a massive majority in the House.
And they call this trickle a mandate, those congressional victories were mandates, and they delivered as much as they could with the proto trump tea party brewing underneath

Democrats counterintuitively need to run a conservative platform. One of boring stability. Counter what is arguably whackadoodle unpredictable change.
Make America boring again!

How do you deal with a side that will believe the media or anything when it favors them but scream "Fake news" the moment it doesn't favor them? CNN reports Trump had the most black votes in 48 years, and MAGA believe that everything else they don't like they cry "Fake News" or "Witch hunt" . How come Republicans get a pass and don't get judge on the same standards? Why does Trump get to say and do anything and people just say "Oh that's just trump being trump" They always make excuses for him. Why did Republicans attack Obama for WEARING A TAN SUIT? Michelle Obama wanted to make school lunches healthier, and Republicans said no and said that they should be left to the school officials who know best. Maybe the hypocrisy needs to be addressed and fixed.

You're looking at the equation from the wrong end.
Merica sexist, no likey women, fall on incompetent orange orangutan over WoMaN.
Hince, why Donald Trump can only win an election if he's running against a woman.

Dems messaging could be better but what Trump said was not that black people should get jobs. He said immigrants were taking their low paying jobs that he called “black jobs”. Then he fired black senior level government employees, stopped government recruiting at job fairs for black engineering students, and defunded research grants to black scientists.

Maybe Republicans should focus on some other than defending every stupid action of Orange man good.

There are other parties to vote for with good ideas. People perpetuate this two party thing when we really don't have to.

Meanwhile, the republican party’s entire platform:
Orange man good
Radical idea, maybe we could actually return to policy politics, and not outrage/ personality politics.
Edit: what I mean to say, in case my deleted critic was curious, is that it’s dangerous and runs counter to progress to have a media that outright refuses to criticize any particular democratically elected official. No person and no decision can be made that’s completely immune to criticism, but the entire media environment is either all or nothing on this administration, and it’s driving me insane.
