Attempted murder of a 12 year old boy for ding-dong-ditching, too connected in his local community for the cops to punish him more than a fine

Oh wow that neighbourhood is really dangerous, those kids ringing doorbells almost ALWAYS graduate to stabbing. Great connection

It's a slippery slope. Doorbells today murder tomorrow. It's inevitable

It's true. I rang a doorbell yesterday, and now I'm in a gang.

You're part of the Ding Dongs or the Nick Knocks?

You can still be saved, pray twice and eat a Bible. You're then on the road to government service.

Got flagged for 'threats of violence' JFC... What a stupid space that I have to /s

Wtf…..that’s crazy

u/customer_service_af 1d ago
Yeah the 20+ hour flight time to even reach America kinda makes my risk pretty minimal

True. Next time, it's a flaming bag of dog feces. After that, graffiti. Then the kid is eating their dogs, he's eating their cats. It becomes a whole thing.

There is no suggestion that the hit was deliberate or intentional on Mr Wright’s part.
Um.......

u/Kiornis1 1d ago
The cops never reviewed the kid's camera footage we see in the article and have ignored the eyewitness testimonies and widespread community outrage

Right?? Except for the part where he visibly turns the car towards the bicycle after the bike is in the road!

“There is no suggestion that the hit was deliberate or intentional on Mr Wright’s part.” Seems they are just ignoring the part where he accelerates and turns into the kid. Hope this scumbag gets thrown in prison

I had a guy try to run my friends and I over back in the day for doing the same. It was pretty extreme but we learned a valuable lesson that day.

To carry a heavier bike chain that you can whip around?

That you never know what lunatic lives at the house you're pranking 😅 also, he only has to catch your slowest friend and you're all screwed.

Such a fitting punishment for knocking on a door and running. Fuck that.

u/jbrown2055 1d ago
We did a tad bit more, we'd sit on their lawn and nobody is allowed to run. If you run first you lose... so they open the door and we're all sitting on the lawn facing away from the door until they either run at us, or someone is scared off. Once 1 person runs, everyone can run.
Still doesn't even come close to warrant getting run over, but looking back we were little assholes for sure.

When you intentionally fuck with someone, you very rarely get to decide how they fuck with you back.
Just don’t fuck with people.

Me, too!!! My friends and I used to skate/bike in this strip mall parking lot at night. One of those street sweepers trick things used to come every so often and clean the parking lot. We used to fuck with that driver all the time.
One night he snapped and tried to run us down. He crashed into one of the parking lot’s light poles!
He didn’t get hurt at all in the big truck. Light pole took most of the hit.

“Ding-dong-ditching”. We called it “nicky nicky nine door” for some reason….and we played that game A LOT lol
Doorbell cameras probably have taken a lot of the fun out of it…sure you could cover your face, ring it and run..but as the home owner I just need to glance at my phone and realize no one’s actually there.

You dont wanna know what they called it when I was a kid.

We called it Nicky Nicky nine door as well. Also door bells cams are for doors, what likely call display was for cranks calls. It can’t be the same for a kid calling up random number and asking if their refrigerator is running. My fave was calling a number every few minutes and asking for same name each time, then after several times doing this, you call up and say “this is (names used), any messages”?

We called it “nicky nicky nine door”
Idk where you're from, but this is still quite possibly the most British phrase on earth somehow

I remember when I was a kid we did that a lot but we called it “knock knock zoom zoom.” Thankfully the only consequence was someone telling our parents and that made us stop for a whole month.

Australia seems to have a huge problem with their political corruption in this way. Absolutely horrid people who use their positions of authority to bully and harass others.

The guy in the video is a co-director of the company behind The Lounge (http://www.theloungepp.com.au/) and Bridges Tapas Bar (https://www.bridgesparadisepoint.com.au/)

This is Australia, there is no DA. Police in Australia have independent charging authority: ie when you get arrested the police officer decides whether to charge you and which offence to charge you with.

The attacker said it himself in the video [0:48], it was the only thing he had against the kid

Don’t mind the stuff in the article about it not being intention. They’re obviously just covering their backs. Watch the vid. The guys literally drives directly into him. It’s as clear as day.

u/spaghetti_wizard1 1d ago
The road he turned into is closed for roadworks too, literally no reason to even turn there

from the article:
“Sorry? I know he is. They are ringing my doorbell every day,” Mr Wright says, to which the boy interjects: “No, I didn’t do it.”
“See the guy over there, with (the) blue hat on – (he) just rang the doorbell. I’m about to go police from the case from yesterday.

Lol, attempted murder. The guy is a cunt, 100%, but the title is nonsense.

u/fomepizole_exorcist 18h ago
Absolute nonsense. Knocking a young lad off his feet by hitting him with your multi-ton vehicle is absolutely an attack with a deadly weapon and should be treated as attempted murder.
The boy could have smacked his head off the concrete or gone under the wheels under different circumstances. At worst, he dies. If he'd gotten brain damage he'd have to spend the rest of his life with the same capacity as you.

My grandma was not too mobile in her later years but there were these kids "bell wacking" (don't blame me, this is the local name lol) at her door continiously. Whenever I visited I'd sit down right next to the door and immediately open whenever I heard giggling kids walking up and ringing. After a few times they skipped grandma's house. I know I'm a killjoy but at least grandma didn't have to deal with these kids for too long haha. Then again I could've rented an audi, ran them over and be done with it in one go but sadly I'm sane.
