Imagine having more money than God and you can't buy some good ideas for your next project ...instead you push your stupid 2005 graphics virtual world idea nobody wants or likes and burn 70% of your stock value because you think you need to invest billions into every brainfart you have.
5
u/Gramernatzi Nov 30 '22
I really wish they just continued developing and publishing VR games without some dumb metaverse idea. That's really all they had to do to be successful; granted, them failing is probably a good thing because they are shady as shit and now someone else can take the plate.

u/Chug4Hire Dec 01 '22
I mean he spent as much on the Meta Verse as Bezos did on Alexa. They both trying to make someone to love.
39
u/Mysterious_Andy Nov 29 '22
Everyone is focusing on the Meta boondoggle, but Zuckerbot is a piece of shit for so many other reasons.

He's burned a hilarious amount of money on the MetaVerse, damaging Meta's cap. Even with that though, Meta has the revenue to survive, unlike Twitter
18
Nov 29 '22
Myeah, the Zuck-o-bot is just weird. And I think 'Meta-verse' is a stupid idea. But I don't think he's a complete narshole like Musk and Kanye.. At least I can't really think of anything off the top of my head.
22
Nov 29 '22
Thousands of Burmese may disagree with you.
He ran a company that cared only about driving more usage of their service so they could run more ads, irrespective of the consequences.
5
Nov 29 '22
True. But isn't that kinda par for the course for any large tech corporation? I meant it more in the sense of Zuck not being quite on the same bond-villain level of batshit idiotic on a personal level as Musk and Kanye. The later two went full psychotic sun-king, while Zuck is just a weird alien android guy who doesn't understand hoomans. Doesn't make Zuck a good-guy by any stretch of the imagination though.. He's just not quite as bad as the others imho.
15
Nov 29 '22
But isn't that kinda par for the course for any large tech corporation? I
Not many corporations can be credited with facilitating attempts at genocide and 10s of thousands of deaths. This is to say nothing about the role Facebook has played in harming human connection.
He's far worse than the others. Kanye has said some dangerous and asinine things but his mental health decline has been in public view for at least a year now.
Musk also says all kinds of dumb shit and he's doing a good job harming tesla and twitter but facilitating mass murder just puts one in a different category.
4
Nov 29 '22
Well apple is balls deep in with the Xi regime in China and I'm sure Google has its tentacles in all kinds of shady crap too. But fair enough.
8
4
Nov 29 '22
He is, think of the metaverse plan as an attempt to create a world where he has total control and can draw the outside world in via a monopoly on VR technology and then expand control to the outside world. He has a complex about wanting to be Caesar Augustus and that's what inspired his haircut.
4
Nov 29 '22
Theres a ton of stuff. One is allowing the Military Junta of Myanmar use his social network to wage a campaign of genocide against the Rohinga. That's only one thing and there's a very long list.
Behind the Bastards does a pretty good job of covering how much damage Zuckerberg has done to the world.
5
u/-Esper- Nov 29 '22
Massive dissinformation comes out of facebook and they know it and do nothing, they steal and sell your info, i read that they can even see what other webpages you have open if facebook is open
3
u/kwertyoop Nov 30 '22
Facebook sucks, but just in the interest of reducing misinformation, they cannot see what tabs you have open. Nobody can do this, not without somehow installing some malicious app on your actual computer.
Although, there is a neutron star of information available about you and your browsing habits that is bought and sold across advertisers and platforms, so they can get a very good sense of what you do online in general.

Apple fucked up Facebook last quarter what about Twitter this quarter
49
u/Dark_Pandemonium23 Nov 29 '22
Apple fucked up Facebook
Apple's iOS 14.5 update has triggered an unstoppable collapse in Facebook's ability to collect user data
18
u/Karn-Dethahal Nov 29 '22
Wish Google would do that on Android. Even if they still record all that data for their ads, keep it out of reach of other companies.
3
u/billbill5 Nov 30 '22
More like how Apple stopped another company screwing us, even when they screw us a lot.
36
u/scarr3g Nov 29 '22
I do my best to not really hear what he says, but one of the things sticks in my head (paraphrased):
If nobody is happy, I am doing it right.
He later deleted it, and reposted something about only the 10% most extreme on "both sides".. But the original was more descriptive of what he is doing.
Twitter users are so unhappy, they are leaving droves. Twitter employees have left in droves (either of their own accord, or by being randomly fired). And advertisers are also leaving in droves.
Users are leaving. Employees are leaving. Advertisers are leaving.
Nobody wants his product. And thinks that is good.... And anything bad about it is obviously someone else's fault.
5
u/curiousnerd_me Nov 30 '22
His take of that deleted tweet is not what you think it is.
He loves being a contrarian. That is the real meaning behind “i am right if you are pissed about what I do”. Kinda like the whole gist of some portion or conservatives is “own the libs” even if it means hurting themselves in their own confusion.

u/AloneAddiction Nov 29 '22
Removing the ability to interact with social media from your phone would actually be a net positive for people's mental health.
I don't mean remove social media entirely. Just this incessant 24hrs a day access we have. It's not good for us as people. It's not healthy.
The day I deleted my socials from my phone was one of the most ilberating days of my life.
12
u/Lord_Quintus Nov 29 '22
the only social media i have is reddit on my iphone and i set a 30 minute limit on it. it's done wonders to prevent me from spending 4-5 hours at a time scrolling reddit. it is an addiction.
5
Nov 29 '22
I need to set a limit like this too.
3
u/Traditional_Cat_60 Nov 29 '22
I’ve though about that, but I use Reddit as a newspaper of sorts. I’m wouldn’t feel bad if I spent an hour reading the paper but then I can’t get trapped mindlessly scrolling the paper for an extra hour. It’s a conundrum.

u/Vre-Malaka Nov 29 '22

Tell that Nazi apologist he will have to buy Apple to be able to put it on the App Store. Lord knows he doesn’t have the capability of building a successful proprietary phone company. Every business that has been a success her bought and then paid the founders to call him a founder.

u/GD_Bats Nov 29 '22
They really are getting to that point. IDK how Twitter could survive if removed from the Apple App Store- no WAY Musk could get his own phone to market in time
16
u/Aksi_Gu Nov 29 '22
no WAY Musk could get his own phone to market in time
And, well, its not like the uptake of a new phone will replace the loss of the iPhone market lol
6
u/dafazman Nov 29 '22
No point to remove them, they will go bankrupt on their own. They are already wounded... just let it bleed out from here.
11
u/GD_Bats Nov 29 '22
No reason to keep an unmoderated platform run by someone intentionally courting racists either....
6
5
u/-GabaGhoul Nov 29 '22
There's no 'in time' needed here. Facebook already tried making a phone and showed it won't work. A social media phone just isn't worth it to 99% of people.
2
7
u/PM_ME_WHATEVES Nov 29 '22
Even if he was able to get the Musky phone out tomorrow, there's no way it overtakes the iphone market. People won't drop a 5 year old iphone for a current Android phone, no way are they switching to a third party phone just so they can tweet
5
u/GD_Bats Nov 29 '22
Especially a new, unproven one haphazardly tossed together to satiate some billionaire's ego
3
u/Ciserus Nov 29 '22
You're being very generous in calling that his biggest problem. It presupposes that
Musk is in any way capable of leading a team to launch a smartphone,
he wouldn't sabotage its release by having tantrums and insulting his customers, and
the phone would be purchased by anyone but a few neo-Nazis.

Musk had to beg all his buddies to bail him out on the Twitter buy. He has more chances of fathering a legitimate child that grows up to not need therapy than he does of buying apple.
