help request Audio 'crashes'?

This is the second time a project of mine does this. It's basically a blank project template where I just loaded 1 audio file. I'm on a 14700k 64gb RAM running windows. Playback device is a Soundcraft signature 22mtk. Driver is set to low latency (my standard setting).

Any idea what causes these glitches? I changed my drivers settings but it doesn't change a thing. I'm pretty sure that when I restart Reaper the problem is gone. This was also the case last time I faced the same issue.

Also.. As weird as it may sound.. I'd love a plugin that gives me this same effect (in a useable way ofc), any suggestions?

This is very interesting. It only seems like a buffer issue or a driver issue if there's one. Speaking with limited knowledge here but a driver update or try running your hardware from something other than ASIO if you can, and different (and more larger) buffer settings - just to see if this fixes it.

There's also that if your audio file is on a hard drive which is struggling to stream audio, this might happen. (Although this happened to me with a big mix session - which makes sense)

It's not a buffer issue, I made sure to change buffer settings and it didn't matter. It's not the disk speed: if I remember correctly the first time I had this happen I only had VSTs running, and besides, my SSD should have plenty of speed.

As expected, I just saved the project and restarted Reaper and the issue disappeared.

Well, I still can't defeat the Mighty "Turn it off and on again". Glad you solved it! Please flair your post as solved.

Oh my bad. You can look into Avogadro's glitch/stutter JS plugin. I think that's what it is called. Glitch/stutter plugins in general should work.

Does this happen if you set the device to WASAPI?

I wish I tried that. I didn't change drivers, only adjusted my drivers settings. I'll try next time I happen to have these glitches.
