Laquer Showoff I had a vision. I halfway achieved it 🙃
Decided to try some chrome polish with my regular lacquer. Was like “oh I’ll do a rainbow gradient hand and a metallic gradient hand!”
At least the rainbow hand looks good lol.
Layers: 1. Anchor and Heart Mermaid Tears 2. LA Colors color craze Circuits 3. ORLY sec n dry topcoat 4. ORLY bonder 5. Artdone powders (not named) 6. Elmer’s clear school glue 7. Essie gel setter

What do you mean Elmer's school glue

It’s a hack if you don’t have a water based top coat. Regular top coats will muddy the chrome, so I paint on a thin layer of the clear Elmer’s glue, let it dry, and throw on my top coat of choice

Love this. It's giving foil-wrapped chocolate eggs. They look great!

Can this incredible metallic rainbow look only be accomplished with gel?
Edit: did a little research and found this thread! Going to try this with regular nail polish! https://www.reddit.com/r/RedditLaqueristas/s/7ibIIDdz35

Nope! I never use gel. :)
You do gotta use chrome powder that says it’s gel only but it’s not an issue.
To use it: 1. Paint your nails with a solid creme however you usually do, base, color, top coat. (I use black to make the colors pop more). (Optional step that makes clean up nicer: paint liquid latex around your nails) 2. When that is fully dry, get your powder ready to go (open, applicator nearby) and paint a sticky base coat on top of one nail (I used ORLY bonder but any should work). 3. Let the base coat dry for just about one minute then gently press the powder onto your nail and lightly buff it out with the applicator. 4. Repeat steps 2&3 for all nails. Blow off excess powder/wipe gently with a lens cloth.
Then if you have a water based top coat: 5. Paint on water based top coat
If you are like me and a cheapskate: 5. Paint on a thin layer of washable clear glue (I use Elmer’s school glue). Clean your brush in a cup of water between nails for best results. Let dry for like 5? Minutes 6. Go over that with your fave top coat.
Last step is remove your liquid latex or go in with a cleanup brush and acetone

I think they’re both great, just not great together?

I think it’s throwing me because the silver on my ring finger looked like such a gold-leaning silver in the jar, and on my nail it looks almost exactly the same as my pinkie. I do LOVE the bronze color on my thumb though and will have to do a whole manicure of it sometime
