Slow Comcast/Xfinity internet during peak hours

It seems like Comcast is our only option when it comes to cable internet. My internet connection seems to go from 60ms ping (connecting to google.com) to about 150-300ms ping during hours from 7pm-10pm almost everyday. I've had several techs that Comcast contractors to come over and pretend they fix something when all I see is them opening and closing the box outside and talk on the phone. I tried to get more information from the last tech visit and he pretty much told me that they can't do anything about it and the slow internet is due to area congestion. I am now black listed from customer service (confirmed from friend who works at Comcast) for calling and scheduling technicians to come. Is anyone else fed up with this? Is this even legal?

Washington recently passed a law allowing for municipal internet. Let the city council know that you’re tired of having a monopoly with comcast as the sole provider. We need to have choice in order to lower costs and increase speeds

hi. i filed an fcc report months ago and they said they will have a fix in June 2025. we have been throttled for years now.

their reasoning is because they needed work permits from the city to work on the issue. hopefully it will resolve by then (i have low expectations lol).

in the meantime, you should file an FCC report as well to lower your bill. i got 20 dollars off mine for a year. also, update us here if you get any new updates

Been waiting for a fiber option...Xfinity sucks! I have the same experience as you've described

For those seeking alternative solutions, consider mentioning it to the City. It should be noted that the City of Kent announced a partnership with an alternative internet service provider JUST LAST WEEK.

In the Highlands, waiting for the day I can switch to quantum fiber. It's so ridiculous. I check weekly

They’ve always been that way. I finally made the leap and went to quantum. I’m very happy so far

100% My next best option is fixed wireless option which I don't trust to have a stable fast connection

It’s coming. I’m in a very old neighborhood in Renton and we literally got it about a month ago. Didn’t take much to convince me to switch. It’s way cheaper and I’ve been dealing with Comcast for decades.
