Wow... they stood for nearly 100-years. Impressive. Truly, they have served us well.

I'm from the US (incoming expat this year) so I just assume everything built from the ground up, in the last century is kinda junky and wastefully built on the cheap.

I wish we built structures in the US like this on the regular. Like damn, Scotland seems so solidly and proudly built from what I've seen.

P.s. y'all are probably all my long lost cousins based on my heavily Scottish ancestry. I know I'm probably just a starry eyed US expat, but it feels like home even just visiting. Thanks for having such a lovely country and I can't wait to have a beer with more of you!

Sees something happening in a country not the US, immediately tells you about how it works back home. Also clockwork.

Oh god another 'I'm Scottish really' yank. You're American. Deal with it.

Also; nobody cares what the US does or thinks.

Literally no one cares about your ancestry. Please, for the love of god, do not be loud and insulted when people laugh at you for trying to insist we are all related.

Yeah I'll try not to be loud on a text based website the internet, thanks for the advice.

That's a solid pylon, barely flexes when it hits the ground!

You must construct additional pylons

Nearly antiques

u/EVRider81 Square slice? don't mind if I do.. 1d ago

Is this removal of older pylons an ongoing thing? Where I lived in Renfrew, there was a pylon on parkland near our house.. Streetview shows it's no longer there..

Tom Scott has an interesting video explaining why we need to move a lot of pylons. The grid needs to be reconfigured to take into account the change from power stations to wind farms.

There's a video of some of the early pylons being constructed which is interesting.

I bet that the new ones won't last 10 years.
