Trump's damage is just getting started. Wait 3 months until we see next quarter results. That's when we'll start seeing the actual damage Trump has done to businesses, both domestic and foreign. We also don't know how Trump's threats to take over other nations will end up, or how damaging his dismantling of government will turn out.
Trump wants to control the Fed. He also wants to end the FDIC, which would cause a run on the banks. We still have no idea how the world is going to react to Trump's madness. Trump creates a new crisis almost daily. No one can plan anything.
The stock market could still fall a great deal more once we start experiencing the true pain of what Trump and his enablers are doing.

And this is the problem. People don’t know that his three months (so far but man, four years) will fuck the US up for a long time. And one term dem cannot solve it. So then everyone will be like “Dems couldn’t solve it, let’s vote Vance”

We wiped out a year of strong gains. 18%
→ More replies (15)3
u/matthiashamm7 18h ago
Lmao nothing strong about those gains. Market being bloated and economic performance are 2 completely different things. When the economy is going down and you have record high inflation (highest in American history) and push us more into debt than any other president - that doesn’t really add up to a positive stock market. It was bound to correct itself. It just happened to be with Trump’s tariffs which are genius. Short term? Yeah it sucks but long term it’s gonna make us a global powerhouse.

u/davis214512 17h ago

You obviously did not live in the Reagan years, that was high inflation, gas lines, our global trade partners will cut us out of the picture. Nothing will make Nike build US plants, Levi’s… there is a hidden agenda here. My money says he crashes the Econ and claims he needs to enact emergency powers, martial law or something

u/ExGamingJTH 1d ago
If only we could slap a sticker on the stock market that said “Trump did this” like the gas pump stickers I’d see every where that said “Biden did this”

Trump wants one thing: power, for as long as he can hold it — maybe a third term, maybe even more.
He crashes the market so his allies can buy low and owe him, while forcing his enemies to beg for tariff relief — which he grants in exchange for loyalty. While we’re watching the chaos, he consolidates power, silences dissent, and erodes trust in democracy. Once enough damage is done and enough pledges are made, he lifts the tariffs, takes credit for the boom, and walks away even stronger. It’s all smoke and mirrors.
Share this. Speak up. Fight back.

I really don't think it is just a political view, MAGA is a way of life! It is changing the fabric of who we are as Americans, presenting an isolationist, nativist country who is not guided with the principles that actually made it great. I didn't have these thoughts, when he was elected first, gave the guy the benefit of the doubt. We were more hateful, more divided after his first term. He ran again after all of his run-ins with the law and an economical "recovery" plan that any decent economists said would have terrible consequences! We don't believe in science, we are very close to loosing some of your rights ( even having that feeling is not who we are) At this point, the only way to change people's mind is to have them experience real hardship, everything else has failed and the average opposition don't have money and power that made MAGA what it is today ( Elon, and the rest of the billionaire s!). I am not proud or like my views but it seems it is the only way. History tells a similar story as well. Also this is the final chapter of American Empire!
23
u/HelpfulFollowing7174 1d ago
Every single person who voted for Trump is complicit in this carnage. I can weather the storm, so I sincerely want to see a recession, so the MAGA crowd can experience the pain. Their idol has fucked us royally, and I want retribution. The farmers in my area, many of whom are Trump supporters, are already realizing their mistake in voting for the orange assclown. The Trump signs are laughingly coming down.

Smoot-Halway Tarriffs resulted in the great depression - then allowed the left wing to bring us back out and lead us into great advancements in society for a few decades.
Maybe that's what Trump ment by Make America Great Agian.

All this downturn has done is made me realize 99% of people investing in the stock market are not emotionally strong enough to invest in the stock market.
10
u/spazz720 1d ago
A lot of people use it like a slot machine. They’re addicted to high, especially since it’s so easy for people to invest now.
6
u/momburglar 1d ago
Not sure everyone is selling bc they are “emotionally weak.” Why would you want to invest in companies margins rely on the price of their imports, or rely on other countries not tariffing their product.
Also hard to have confidence when those tariffs could double/triple depending on the whims of an angry old man

TBH, if you are on the verge of retirement with a stock heavy 401k...either it was mis-managed and you weren't aware or you accepted the risk.

They're 401ks are doing fine as long as they don't cash out of it. You seem to forget the market dropped 10,000 during covid and guess what it gained that whole $10,000 back within 8 months.

One thing I have learned is if you have your retirement in stocks and are close to retirement, is to sell those stocks before a republican takes office. Then purchase a bunch of low price stocks after the republican assumes office and the stock prices have dropped.

Yes!! 100% Trump market crash. Analyst after analyst said this was not necessary. He is the Chaos president who has no clue what he is doing but loves to throw everything against the wall and see what sticks. Much of the damage he’s doing will be very hard if not impossible to reverse. His chart on now Tariffs is way way wrong. His formula is wrong. Just a made up number. Everyone on republican leaning Squawk saying this is the biggest unforced error ever by a president. Can’t wait till doge and him get to Medicare and Social Security for cuts or elimination. Too many Voters are morons.

A year of gains wiped in less than a month. The scary part is president bankruptcy is trying to speed run into a recession/depression. Most analysis will not be able to keep up with the losses. This will be awful in a whole new way because of his idiotic, create policies before vetting them, style. Markets love stability, let’s see if our bi-polar liar can do anything stable.

u/Fattboi_7 20h ago
Shit idk but if it drops again just lower your position again. Nobody knows exactly when it’s gonna return but it’s definitely not going to stay this low forever 🤷🏻♂️. That’s kinda the point of stocks. You don’t know when the markets are going to fluctuate, they just do and that’s when people make money.

Did anyone seriously not expect this? I more or less support the tariffs and knew this would happen. It'll take time to broker new deals that are better for us trade. Essentially what these tariffs did was create a starting point for negotiations. The other countries will fold because we have way more leverage.

Interest rates wil now go down soon. Buy the dip and stop crying like a lil btch
1
u/KevinDean4599 1d ago
This is just the very beginning. If we keep the tariffs in place for a long period of time it will impact business. Slow down the economy and ultimately lead to businesses closing and jobs being lost. Consumer confidence and spending will drop. Manufacturing will slow down in response. There will be a tremendous amount of pressure to change course.
1
1
u/cyrixlord 1d ago
trump wrecked the economy so that every company will have to come to trump and kiss his ring in order to be removed from the tariff list. they will have to prove their loyalty to him with campaign contributions or maybe publicly advocate for a policy, or even watch over their employees who might not share trumps values. trump plans to stay in power after his term
