Today, russia struck a restaurant and a kids playground in Kryvyy Rih, Ukraine, with a cluster ballistic missile, killing at least 16 people, 6 of whom were children.

When you're okay with children dying as collateral damage, you're beyond help.

u/Rationalinsanity1990 1d ago

This wasn't collateral damage, the kids were the target.

Regulated rights is an oxymoron

Your right to free speech is regulated by slander laws and libel laws and even criminal laws. Your right to vote is regulated, otherwise people would vote many times over. Your right to free assembly? Try protesting on the White House lawn. Which one of your rights is unregulated?

-31

u/w00tabaga 1d ago

By that logic we should ban cars too because kids die in car accidents.

I’ll get downvoted into oblivion for this and continue a flame war but it’s not as easy as outlawing guns and magically no more innocent people are killed by evil people using a gun. Anti-gun people like to portray it as that simple and if it were we would have collectively banned them long ago, not to mention they will refuse to acknowledge any positive impact from firearms in the world.

9

u/Flyingdutchman2305 1d ago

Ahhh the age old argument, if theres still a statistic whats the point in trying, even if its been reduced by 99% , want proof? Australia and Scotland both increased gun control and saw a massive decline in mass/school shootings. Because the problem isnt guns, its the ease of access for people who shouldnt handle guns

-2

u/w00tabaga 1d ago edited 1d ago

… yeah but has violent crime rate gone down?

The main point about US gun violence is both those countries never had the amount of gun violence the US has. The difference is that a significant amount of murders in the US involving a firearm are gang related.

It’s not a firearm problem… it’s an organized crime problem.

For example, murder and suicide rates involving a firearm in the US haven’t really changed over time. Yet, violent crimes relating to gang violence has increased dramatically.

So in a way you are correct, most of the people that are committing these crimes aren’t legally supposed to have a gun in the first place. But when you have organized crime on such a large scale and the resources at its disposal, what law are you going to pass to stop them and not the law abiding citizen that wants to buy a gun for personal protection or to go hunting?

Again, it’s not as simple as just banning guns, if it were we would have collectively done so a long time ago.

6

u/QarzImperiusrealLoL 1d ago

Im not sure school shootings are gang voilence

0

u/w00tabaga 21h ago edited 21h ago

They’re not but the point is they are incredibly rare despite what it’s made out to be on the news.

How many lives do guns save? When you see the president in public, democrat or republican, do you realize how many guns are around them?

Firearms are an equalizer, often it’s the only option for a less physical individual to defend themselves from a bigger stronger individual.

Not to mention a firearm allows me to hunt and feed my family.

You act as though the only thing firearms do is kill innocent people, which is not true at all. And if it were, I’d be the first person trying to get rid of them. I have children in school. Quit trying to sensationalize everything by painting it black and white

Not to mention, even if we banned guns, if someone wants to go into a school and kill, what’s stopping them from using a bomb if they couldn’t find a gun. The gun isn’t killing in any of those scenarios, it’s the POS individual

u/QarzImperiusrealLoL 20h ago

https://www.edweek.org/leadership/school-shootings-in-2024-more-than-last-year-but-fewer-deaths/2024/12

You know, i live in Serbia. We have very strict gun laws here. In the last decade do you know how many school shootings we had? One. On May 3rd 2023, and it was such a big tragedy that it will be remembered for decades if not longer. We have organized crime, its our government.

Defense situation? The lesser fude is going to whip out a gun and the big guy will too. Lets say the big guy pulls the trigger first, when the police arrive they have to put themselves in life danger because the suspect has a firearm.

Ive yet to find a firearm/weapon that has saved a life

Firearms for hunting exist, but are highly regulated in whats a hunting rifle. You ain't gonna hunt with a m16

Crafting a bomb is a bit tricky, and you can't really look up a tutorial without getting on a list. Asides aren't bombs/ explosives illegal pr is that allowed too up there?

1

u/w00tabaga 16h ago edited 16h ago

It’s not about # of school shootings though, what’s your rate of violent crimes and murders? It’s not going to be in statistics though if the government is actively murdering people.

And organized crime as your government isn’t the same as gangs in the US, most of the violence with firearms in the US is gang against gang, or a gang to itself, which your government may rule harshly over citizens, it’s not doing it to itself and therefore totally different. You have a government problem in that case, which maybe if the average citizen had more rights to own firearms, it wouldn’t be so easy for your government to have so much power over its citizens.

It’s also why you guys don’t have school shootings, your government has such a firm grip. But are you any better off? No.

You’re proving my point on why legal and responsible gun ownership is very important to law abiding citizens.

Again, it’s an equalizer, not an automatic win for the innocent party. It gets them the opportunity to try to save themselves or deter an attacker. Also, I know plenty of examples of people being saved by a firearm (you don’t because your gun laws are so strict it prohibits people from doing so).

In fact, in my small town of 1,000 people there was an old couple that protected themselves and saved both their lives from criminals that had escaped custody and wanted to steal their vehicle. The intruders knocked on the door and the wife went to the door and the husband off to the side with a gun. When she went to open the door the criminals fired through the door and injured the wife. The husband then promptly fired into the door and ended up dragging his wife on a blanket to the vehicle and drove their truck through the garage door and to the hospital. They both lived and I have no doubt they both would have died had the husband not had a gun, and there are plenty more stories like this, it just not get the publicity as a shooting where innocent people die. So don’t tell me guns don’t save lives. And that’s besides the thousands where the crime is committed because the would be attacker knows there’s a good chance their potential victim could be armed.

In fact, that’s WHY schools get it in the US, the attacker knows it’s a place where they will be unchallenged by another gun until the police can arrive. Anywhere else someone can be concealed carrying or there’s armed guards.

Lastly, you won’t necessarily land on a list because it’s incredibly easy to craft a bomb. Materials that are in pretty much any home can be used to make a crude but effective bomb. The only reason most criminals will choose a gun over a bomb though is because a bomb is so much more destructive and unsafe it poses more risk to the user as well.

u/FormallyKnownAsKabr 1d ago

You are required to have license, insurance and to take a driving test to even get the license

What do you need for a firearm?

Your logic is shallow at best

You decry a "simplistic" interpretation of gun violence and in the same breath overly simplify child deaths in car accidents. As if that's even close to the same thing.

Your mental gymnastics are breathtaking.

Fuck the downvotes bud, you need reevaluate your critical thinking capabilities and maybe step back from shit you don't understand

4

u/mehdih34 1d ago edited 1d ago

1

u/w00tabaga 21h ago

lol you didn’t even read what I said then.

I’m not justifying killing children. Maybe quit trying to sensationalize everything and actually have an objective thought

-1

u/w00tabaga 1d ago

The fact of the matter is that despite what you hear on the news is that over 90% of gang violence in the US is gang related. The problem is not firearms; it’s organized crime.

3

u/RedOliphant 1d ago

over 90% of gang violence in the US is gang related.

I should hope so!

1

u/w00tabaga 1d ago

Whoops! My bad, “over 90% of violent crimes committed with a firearm are gang related”*

I might be overly tired

1

u/rossfororder 1d ago

Other countries don't have gun massacres like the USA. Australia had one in 1996 and never again. Americans are delusional that access to guns combined with their attitudes are responsible for thousands of people dying every year. People don't give a fuck because it's not their kids

1

u/w00tabaga 1d ago

Yeah but has violent crimes committed gone down?

The US has an organized crime problem that’s been slowly getting worse and is getting to the point where it’s spiraling out of control. You can point the finger right at the US government for why that is, but it’s the root of the problem of gun violence in the US.

For example, the rate of gun related violence has virtually not changed since the 1960’s or before but gang related violent crimes is increasing rapidly.

Now go back and look at Scotland and Australia compared to the US. The US enslaved an entire race and when those people were finally freed, they got nothing and were still treated like sub humans despite slavery ending long long ago.

Now take desperate people who got the cold shoulder from their own government and combine that with strict laws (all time or just during certain periods) on things like alcohol, drugs, sex, etc. which makes for a lucrative black market. It’s the perfect storm to create organized crime to an astronomical level.

So that leaves the question, what law are you going to pass that keeps a tool such as a firearm out of these people’s hands (and they need to do their business) and not affect the law abiding citizen that just wants to protect themselves or to go hunting?

Which brings me to my last point, the US actually DID have an assault weapon ban that was enacted in 1994. It expired after 10 years. But in those 10 years it’s been debated if it really had any effect but there wasn’t any statistical significant data that it did. It has also been studied significantly since and still no statistical significant data has been produced to say more legislation will lead to less deaths.

And thus, America and Israel are irredeemable

21

u/Doctor__Hammer 1d ago

Yet half the country is supportive of Israel committing a literal genocide in Gaza

Mass slaughter of children in that conflict is so ridiculously common by this point that it doesn’t even make the news. Crazy fucking world we live in man.

3

u/DarkKnight_ZA 1d ago

All due to media brainwashing people to believe it's in the name of fighting terrorism.

1

u/Doctor__Hammer 19h ago

And no one even bothering to stop and wonder “why is terrorism happening in the first place?”

1

u/DarkKnight_ZA 13h ago

The lines of victim and aggressor become blurred when islaam and Arabs are involved

Defense becomes a terrorist

While half of Europe complains about the influx of immigrants, it’s the actions of global powers like the U.S. and Israel that are contributing to the very crises displacing these people. Where else are they supposed to go?"

Currently the USA have South African in its Cross hairs...not because of racial policy's it's a smoke screen...it's because of the South African support.of Palestine

0

u/ProfessorWild563 20h ago

Islam does the same Terror russia does.

2

u/Doctor__Hammer 18h ago

Not exactly. It’s pretty well understood by now that religion doesn’t cause terrorism, religion is used to justify terrorism. In almost every known case throughout history, terrorism is committed for the exact same purpose: as a response to a perceived loss of one’s homeland and political autonomy to a larger and greater power.

Ever heard there phrase “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter”?

Religion is often exploded and twisted into a skewed, fundamentalist version of itself to make people believe terrorism is an acceptable action to take, but you wouldn’t say those atrocious actions are “caused” by religion. They’re caused by a desire for justice and freedom from oppression. Almost always.

You are going to die, and your family too, and many innocent people too. Just because of a old fucked up rich man's anger because he can't even have an erection. If you want to get killed by stupid drones and high caliber machine guns for "nothing" be my guest. War is not cool. War is a crime. War must belong to the primitive man's because they couldn't use their brain like us. If you don't have a fucking brain and your own thoughts go on you stupid shits. Fight like a pig and gutted like them.

What recourse do regular people have to hold governments accountable that don't make children's deaths a red line in their military tactics?

1

u/SHEEEEESH-_- 1d ago

What country do you think exists which can afford to condemn America, Russia and Israel?

Why be outraged if your friends or family are hit when you should’ve left like most everyone else did? Sorry I just can’t understand why anyone would stay, with children no less, in an active war zone.

2

u/Ukie_Uke 19h ago edited 14h ago

Are you asking in a good faith? There are many reasons. Some ladies do not want to leave their husbands and go with children abroad. They see that many families have been destroyed because of that.

1

u/LingonberryFearless 13h ago

Some people are broke, some people have family members fighting in the war, some people have reasons they can't leave (livelihood, belongings, other attachments). Are you really trying to blame the children for being bombed because they were in a playground? The place is an active war zone but so is like the entirety of east Ukraine. That doesn't mean Russia should be bombing playgrounds and restaurants.

Not the first time they attack a playground in the middle of a park. They launch so many missiles and drones randomly to cities that I don't know if these objectives are intentional, but definitely these daily attacks are aimed at civilians. Remember the russian scum claim they only attack military objectives. A thing nobody in the whole world believes, including themselves.

It'd be the same justification Israel are using for hamas and england for yeman and also americans for their own schools. They were terrorists obviously.....

At the same time, the American embassy in Ukraine expressed its condolences, afraid to name the source of the cluster munition missile launch - the word "Russia" is not mentioned in it even once.

Trump and his cronies support this.

u/Bingzhong 15h ago

Someone please educate me on this matter. This is definitely a war-crime, but what happens now? How does Russia as a country face these crimes against humanity?

1

u/WastedKun2 15h ago

That's only possible in the case of russia losing the war but now Ukraine's position on the battlefield has significantly worsened, unfortunately. Besides that, only sanctions can apply pressure on russia and suffocate its war machine.

Fucking subhumans.

1

u/April_Fabb 10h ago

By openly supporting both Putin and Netanyahu, at least Trump is consistent when it comes to deranged war criminals.

That's probably not a cluster but the collateral damage is probably from shrapnel. Iskander missle has A LOT of deadly shrapnel.

No rules when it comes to war. That's why it needs to end.

-7

u/zalayshah 1d ago

This happens in war, maybe there were Ukrainian soldiers hiding in these building using the civilians as human shields. Russian army is the most moral army in the world. Also Ukraine is historically part of Russia anyway. Ukrainians are already self relocating to other parts of Europe and America and this should be encouraged more. I heard Putin wants to redevelop with more casinos and hotel and bars, this is a really good idea as lots of people can go and enjoy holidays in Ukraine/Russia.
