News Trump casually posting a war crime and bragging about it
Yemeni civilians celebrating Eid al-Fitr with no weapons or military vehicles anywhere near them getting blown up and Trump boasts about it online. Absolutely disgusting behavior… attacking a peaceful religious gathering has got to be one of the most shameful acts ever. The US empire is truly demonic.

Naw, none of these pussys wanna die at the end of the day. I think we could have a full fledged Maoist revolution tomorrow, and not a single member of the parasite class would have the balls to press the button. They’ll just fuck off to some tropical island or European shithole with every last penny they could steal on the way out.

Annihilation of the world will affect everyone. It's in their interest to not burn the whole world down, and in that aspect our interests luckily align.
15
u/LegoCrafter2014 1d ago
It's in their interests to keep the economy running smoothly instead of wasting lots of money and resources on endless wars, but they do the latter anyway.
24
u/Anolopi 1d ago
Permanent war is in the interests of the ruling classes tho. It secures the geopolitical domination of imperialism and the military industrial complex makes billions of dollars of profit. It also constantly destroys everything that the global South tries to build and create, which in turn makes it far easier to exploit.
0
u/LegoCrafter2014 1d ago
No, it's only in the interests of the arms manufacturers. It wastes and destroys the productive capacity, which is also bad for the elites that aren't arms manufacturers. Nazi Germany's economy was a basket case. China is investing in countries because it both makes getting resources out of those countries easier and it makes getting finished products to be sold in those countries easier. The British empire did something similar, to a much lesser extent.

u/times_a_changing 1d ago
You are mistaken if you believe that war is not profitable.
0
u/LegoCrafter2014 1d ago
It's profitable for the arms manufacturers, but not for everyone else, including big businesses in the civilian industry.

The thing about the old concept of mutually assured destruction is, it was based on the prospect of an all out three pronged assault against another nuclear power that would trigger a response in kind. In reality, of course only one nation has been psychotic enough to actually use the power of the atom on cities. There is somewhat of a chance of Trump and co gambling that using one strategic nuke will garner nothing more than broad condemnation, which might be a pretty realistic outcome. Obviously this administration doesn’t care how the world, allies or not, view their actions.
We are in uncharted waters, and less than 3 months into this administration nothing seems off the table.

I know precisely what the US has up its sleeve
5000 city-destroying nuclear bombs
43
u/ImportantChemistry53 1d ago
The moment they launch the first one is the moment they sign their own destruction, though. The MAD Doctrine didn't cease to exist after 1991, and not even their allies (save Israel) will want to side with them after such a blatant civilian killing, there's no hiding a nuclear explosion.
35
u/marioandl_ 1d ago
I could see israel, AFD run germany, RN run France, FDI italy, and reform UK signing some post-nuclear pact on the admission that the US will preemptively nuke their superior adversaries

4.5 million people were killed in the middle east since the iraq war 20y ago. I dont think the allies care abt civilians, they participated in it like they do with the genocide on palestinians

looking at the bright side of this cruelty, at least it's gonna show to the world what kind of country the US has always been. Perhaps, and hopefully, more countries will soon start uniting against america and siding with China or smth. It will begin chipping away even more at US hegemony, and with what trump is currently doing, maybe even destroy all the soft power America has. But being left with only hard power is hardly a good thing considering they'll just start committing worse atrocities using their military.

I wouldn't look at the bright side of a nuclear explosion /s
But yes I totally agree about soft power becoming boots on the ground hard power. US Aid being defunded is a great blow.

Everybody has nukes, but the difference between the USA and other countries is the US has 250 million more than everybody else. And no it's not a real number just an old joke I heard from a comedian. America always been a country of talk softly and walk with a Giant Stick

Serious question, but isn't this business as usual by US standards?
I mean, committing war crimes is normal day-to-day business for the US, isn't it? The only thing that has changed is that they are now even more open about it.

Yemeni people hold these types of tribal gatherings all the time for civil meetings, celebrations, religious festivals etc. Trump claiming these people have anything to do with military events is just a blatant lie that can be easily fact checked.
158
u/Solitaire-06 1d ago
Seriously, why is nobody talking about the fact that Trump’s cronies were planning an unprovoked attack on Yemen? All everyone seems to care about is the national security drama… no mention of the blatant crimes being committed by the Trump Administration.

Remember when pictures/footage like this leaked it caused a massive scandal people talked about for years? Now the president is just fucking posting it, admitting it. We are frogs in water slowly brought up to boil. Absolutely insane.

Whistleblowers used to get jailed or suicided for leaking this kind of footage. Not anymore though, they don’t have to.
Decades of warmongering propaganda has passed off blatant atrocities as the typical “nature of war”, and needless to say, it has worked. They’ve successfully desensitized the populace to their crimes to the point where they can openly boast about them. Whereas the average USian 20 years ago might have been rightfully horrified seeing the blood on their country’s hands, the average American today will shrug it off as a “war is hell” moment at best, or happily cheer and gloat about it at worst.

"Israel"ism
8
u/ABigFatTomato 1d ago
the US has been doing this since before israel even existed (of course this isnt to downplay the zionist colony’s atrocities or the role it plays as an american outpost violently enforcing western hegemony in MENA). if anything it should be called american-ism.
5
u/Inside-General-797 1d ago
Highly recommend the movie of this same name BTW. It dives into the societal indoctrination that so many Israelis go through from birth to churn out Zionist foot soldiers.
Honestly I see parallels to the US in a lot of ways as well with how propagandistic our schooling is.

Something that I always notice with western chauvinists (and zionists) in general is how they don't seem to hold themselves to the standard that they hold the third world to. It's honestly driving me crazy how I barely see anyone talking about this. When Israel obviously and deliberately destroyed the USS liberty ship and killed 30+ American soldiers, it got downplayed and covered up. Just a mistake and accident, they said.
But then one of these groups does like just a fraction of what the US does (justifiably often times), dares to damage an Israeli/American ship, and maybe kill one US or two soldiers worst case scenario, and suddenly everyone goes all up in arms being like "WE MUST INVADE THIS COUNTRY AND KILL ONE MILLION PEOPLE! RAAAAGH!!! They are ANTI DEMOCRACY and FREEDOM!"

this was most likely a tribal gathering on the day of Eid Al-Fitr. This is what it looks like https://x.com/jou_rage/status/1908328316593201322
Pepe Escobar was in Yemen and he said that the US had no intelligence on the military of Ansar Allah and that they were bombing civilians and civilian infrastructure (for example, a cancer hospital in construction)

I remember when evidence of war crimes used to be considered dangerous. Whistleblowers would be jailed or suicided for leaking this kind of footage. They don't silence whistlers as much anymore, because they don't need to.
Decades of warmongering propaganda has passed off blatant atrocities as the typical “nature of war”, and needless to say, it has worked. Why would they Houthis gather in an open venue when the U.S. is looking to bomb them?

so you think houthis will gather and plan for an attack in open field like say " hello we are here " to us drones ?
5
u/OldBabyl Marxist-Leninist-Hakimist 1d ago
Why are they out in the open? Everyone knows the US has drones why would they have a military gathering in the middle of nowhere out in the open? The US has lied and struck civilians before. Knowingly.

u/Remarkable_Medicine6 18h ago
It's the middle of nowhere to you because you haven't done the simplest of research. Apparently like Trump.
32
u/vggfork 1d ago
Meanwhile in the combatfootage sub they just take Trump's word as fact and clap like seals. Note how many of them are left dumbfounded as to why they are gathered out in the open like that and instead of questioning whether Trump is in fact lying and that they may actually be civilians, they just come up with racist post-hoc justifications.

Not only are people barely talking about this, but those who are talking about it are only concerned with the cost. It really says something about how irredeemable this country is when the only criticism of war crimes is not about the deaths of innocent civilians, but the burden on taxpayers. Human lives are expendable. Dollars are not.
