Questions, Advice, and Recommendations Applied to Work on Polling Day in Trinidad & Tobago – No Response Yet. What Should I Do?
In March of this year, I applied to work as a polling clerk for elections day. I went into this with the assumption that election day would be around August/September time, like it usually happened for the past few years. However, seeing that polling day was moved up to late April, I haven't heard anything from these people. I was told that I must apply for training first, which I did, but they haven't got back to me on that either. Is there anything I should do?

If u get through. U will have to go the day before to set up the polling station On election day, try to get there early in the event someone tries to take stuff from your section and u have to find stuff to set it up again - it happened to me once.
Walk with food, snacks water or arrange for someone to bring stuff during the day.
Depending on the presiding officers' strictness on phone usage, they have a charger or power bank.
Peak times tend to be just after opening, lunch and closing
If u don't have a vehicle, work out how u will be getting there and leaving. Depending on the amount of people voting at your station, u will be there after the polls close and u are checking ballots. More voters the longer to finish checking ballots.
I can't remember if stationary is provided. Walk with extra just in case.

Lmao just by feeling hurt itself yuh know this newer generation a widdle soft and have a lot to learn!
Reminds of how last week I purchased something at computer store. So am waiting for my receipt from the cashier. She just stands there and stares at me like " ummm why are you still in front of me?" 😐
So I told her I'd like my receipt. She's insists to me they only give a receipts on purchases for 'big items' like computers and gaming things. Have me wondering if this is some kinda store scam this business have going on.
Only for another guy to rush up and apologize. Tell her yes they have to give out receipts with ALL purchases. And that she's still new, only working there like 3months and now out of UWI. So she needs A LOT of training.
Cashier just pouts and looks like she's ready to cry or cuss us.
And is not to say the guy was mean or embarrassing to her in anyway.
I sorry for them honestly. Life is give you really hard lessons fast if you don't have an open mind and be open to being teachable, be honest with who you are as a person and learn life lessons fast.

Have you worked as poll day staff before? If not it's very unlikely that you'd be selected. The Returning Officer for my area told us last election I worked that amount of people that applied was something like double the amount of positions available so they rather call people with experience rather than newcomers

They called ppl over this weekend gone. And training starts around the 9th April I believe. They normally take back all the experienced ppl once they applied. And all the experience ppl is definitely go back!! ONLY then if they need more ppl for an area they call the newbies for training. They is take a few days to sort out things. If you don't get called by the 9th April when training begins then you can take it as a sign you didn't get through. Wait a bit and see. Or call the ebc office closest to you and find out.
