On the one hand, marching together in solidarity is always a net good. On the other hand, we just elected a local DA whose whole position was "we aren't ruining the lives of protestors enough"...
I'm sure folks marching through the streets today will meditate on this dichotomy.

We had the same protests 8 years ago and the outcome has been worse than if Trump had just won in 2020. I'm skeptical another round of "we're the more competent cop lovers/immigrant haters" is going to achieve anything worthwhile.

I went to one today to support my sister who's super liberal and wanted to go. People were literally shouting their thanks to the cops as we walked by them.

Yeah and now there's not even a simultaneous (if ultimately ineffective) radical protest movement, because thar shit got beaten out of most of us between 2017 and 2020, aided and abetted by the cop loving democrats

unironically posting is more effective and useful than any of these 50501 protests. you’re better off doing literally anything else. these people are protesting FOR a competent empire.

They're not mad we have a fascist country. They're mad the fascists they like aren't in control.

imagine the citizens of Nazi Germany hearing about the holocaust and protesting the government because it wasn’t efficient enough

I was just at the one in Denver, there was a fairly large Palestine contingent, thanks largely to PSL and FRSO.
There were a lot of very, very libbed up signs though.
These are ultimately just parades but honestly I like walking through the streets shouting loudly. In fact I do that alone all the time, so being in a crowd of people doing the same thing makes me feel less crazy.

There are a bunch of non-descript anti-elon anti-trump marches today

Also thinking about how pro-nato liberals decided to organize a separate march on Washington today, the same day as the march on Washington organized by shut it down for Palestine/pym/psl

Oh no I didn't realize this. I feel bad for attending the hands off rally in my town now (albeit as part of the Palestine contingent)

There's a post in Vermont openly stating "performance art protesting is valid, change my mind" just in case anyone was really still getting warm and fuzzies from the scheduled Dem staffer posting of the protest pics.
In all fairness, I did see 1.5 black people in one of the PA photos, so I'm glad to see it all still doesn't look like an after church breakfast rush crowd. Growth!

Theres a thread on blackpeopletwitter about Kamala and the people who refused to vote for her bc of her stand on Gaza. And idk if it was astroturfed or if it was a bunch of real people wholesomely engaging with each other. But the comments were a fucking cesspool. I saw a new theory I hadnt heard: all the Gaza protestors were Russian decoys, trying to sow dissent and cause Harris to lose. Amazing. If Russia could get away with that, good for them. They’re clearly better at this than the alphabet boys.
Most the comments were them attacking single-issue voters, and that really does miss the overall point. Because its not actual just the one issue. Because her stance on Gaza, is no different than her stance on immigtation. Or towards corporations. She isnt some generous saint, fighting for people out of the kindness of her heart. She is the establishment, and wildly unpopular—on top of all the misogny and racism this country has.
Libs refusing to budge a fucking inch on Gaza is beyond infruriating. Had Kamala fully condemned the actions of Biden and vowed to actually bring Israel to heel, alright, thats something. But no, she doesnt give a fuck and neither do any of the rest. They’re going to scold the left for years, decades, about how WE are the reason Gazans are suffering.
