Victor was 18 years old and my absolute best friend in the entire world. He lived a full life and a life full of love, but it’s still been the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through. I read so many posts on here over the past few weeks of how to know when it’s time, and finally made the difficult decision to have him pass peacefully at home today with the help of a compassionate house call vet. I hope he knows I just wanted to do what’s kindest for him, before he started to feel any pain. I didn’t want to be selfish and be too late for him, I’d never forgive myself. I hope he knows how much I love him. I will miss him forever. The last photo is him today.

Anyway if you could please show me your tuxedo kitties (and give them some extra snuggles tonight!) I think it would really help my heart start to heal. Tuxes are so so special πŸ–€πŸ€ thank you.

🌈 MEMORIAL / MOURNING πŸ•ŠοΈ I've had pets die, but something about his death hit me so freaking hard. He was with me through so much and always slept above my head. Through thick and thin. He was my Dude and I'll miss him so much. He died in my arms, and I hope he knows how much he was loved.

I'm so lucky I was able to save him from being put down 10xyears ago. He was between 16 and 18, and man, he was a cat like no other. My Bubsy Chubsy Wubsy.

Me and my wife got married in June and got a house in July. I said once we are settled in more we would get a third kitten. Flash forward to December she went to the shelter and found this guy. She wanted a chill cat who would cuddle with her. He knew his job. He was the best. We named him Figaro because we are Disney adults and on our honeymoon we went to Italy. He also loved playing soccer with his bell ball we got him for Christmas. He would play for hours with it and our 4 year old tabby cat named Mochi. She finally had a friend to play with instead of bothering our 11 year old tuxedo girl(Friskey). This photo was taken on Christmas eve at my wife's work.

A month and a half later he was diagnosed with FIP. Little guy became lethargic. We were giving him the treatment. But last night he collapsed climbing out of bed and we think he seized.

He passed not in pain at the ER Vet. But we are broken. And especially his mommy. Making this post to show her the nice comments.

12/24/24 to 3-3-2025 Figaro

We found her very pregnant mom in a blackberry bush and kept Bb out of the litter after finding homes for the rest. She came to college and my first big move with me. Even after going totally blind and deaf, she was always excited for attention. 21 years isn’t enough but I’m glad I got to spent so long with her.

🌈 MEMORIAL / MOURNING πŸ•ŠοΈ People seemed to really like the picture I posted of him yesterday, so here's a tribute to a real good guy: Mister (21)

He and his sister Tuffy were my grandparents' cats. When my grandma died the family was going to put them down since they were old and no one wanted to take care of them. No one wanted to tell me because I had just put down my 19 year old cat a few months prior. Once I found out I told everyone that I would take the cats. Mister was 16 going on 17, Tuffy was 11 going on 12.

Both cats were very shy when I was growing up. As much time as I spent at my grandparents' house I almost never saw the cats. Tuffy took a while to warm up to me, but Mister was my buddy within a day. I moved them 3 times within 2 years, Mister was never uneasy. He was very social as long as I had him, greeting guests and enjoying their company.

He always took care of other cats without getting anything in return. He cleaned Tuffy whenever she needed it, he was always patient with Coach when he was a kitten. He seemed to have an ideological stance against cats being kept behind doors. When I had a roommate who had a cat, he wanted to keep them seperate. When it was Mister and Tuffy's time to free roam, Mister would bust Raven out the first chance that he could. It didn't take long for us to let the cats mingle freely.

He was the tallest cat I've ever seen. He stood head and shoulder above all of the 3 cats he lived with, but he was a gentle giant. He liked to play, but his favorite game was being chased by me very slowly. He'd hustle for a few feet and then look behind at me to make sure I was coming and then do it again. Anytime I rearranged furniture he would initiate this game and make sure he could fit behind wherever I'd moved the furniture. If he couldn't, he'd let me know and I'd move it and he'd meep approvingly.

He was a talker, which was another new development that came from living with me as my family said he couldn't meow. He wouldn't wake me up, but when he knew I was awake he'd come collect me with a yell and as I got up and followed him around he'd meow, chirp, and coo. He and I would talk back and forth throughout the day, usually getting into arguments about politics. He loved attention and being admired and Ted Cruz (he was my grandparents' cat after all.)

I've had a lot of cats, but Mister was unique. We all talk to our cats and consider them our best friends, but Mister seemed like a good guy in a cat's body.

He was in very good shape while I had him, having great bloodwork results each year. He got sick 6 weeks after he got glowing praise for his health markers, we did more bloodwork and things took a quick turn. From there things got worse. We tried every medication we could and any procedure that made sense, he got extra accommodations at home but after 3 months he was ready to go. He would have been 22 in September of this year.

I got more years with him than anyone would have expected, I'm grateful for every day. I dug a plot and buried him in what would have been a second garden. He has a headstone. Despite his age it was still difficult to lay him to rest.

Tuffy is 16 now and looking like she'll have a long life as well. Coach will be 3 when I turn 35. A week after his death the local humane society posted that they had a 4 month old tuxedo named Lil Miss. That felt like a set up and though it felt like it would be too soon (especially since I have 2 other cats) I had to get her. Her name is Big Dawg now. Coach is playing with Big Dawg all day every day and they will each sleep in the crooks of my arms. Tuffy is getting extra attention as she's transitioning from spending 14 years as the baby and now going it alone at 16 as the old lady. All of us that knew Mister miss him.

He was a great cat and a good guy.

🌈 MEMORIAL / MOURNING πŸ•ŠοΈ This is Jack. He was my best friend for the past 18 years and today he crossed the rainbow bridge. He was king of the bed, loved a good tummy rub, and his favorite place was either a sunny window or my hand. I miss him so much already. Please give your fur babies some extra love today for Jack.

This was Bentley. Bentley was part tuxedo, part cowcat, but I joined this sub before I had knowledge about cow cats, and just stayed. Because I love the vibe here.

Bentley couldn't pee on the evening of the 10th. I noticed practically directly, and got him picked up by an animal ambulance because my son was already in bed. They took him to an emergency vet. They confirmed he had bladder Stones and crystals and admitted him. Tuesday they informed me he was doing okay. They would remove his catheter and see if the blockage would be gone. It wasn't, so he got his second catheter, and me and my 7 year old son could visit him on wednesday. He looked sick, but was so happy to see me. Sadly, Bentley got a bleeding in his bladder because he managed to yank out his catheter. The vet monitored him, but let me know on friday she tought a third catheter would be do more harm than good. Long story short, I picked him up on friday with antibiotics, painkillers and diazepam to (hopefully) relax his urinary tract enough. Saturday went okay. He peed a little, which gave me hope. I didn't notice any blood. He cuddled with me and our other cat. I really thought things would be okay...

When I woke up sunday, there was blood. So much blood. He was awake, but clearly in pain. I gave him painkillers and called the vet, where he was euthanised.

This is the short version of the story. I miss him. Bentley was almost 5 years old. I feel guilty, even though the vet assured me I did "enough".

My (autistic) 7 year old is missing his buddy too. I knew he loved Bentley, but I didn't know this loss would hit him so hard.

And my other cat, Kyra, seems to be depressed. She misses her "brother" too.

I hope by writing this, it will help with my healing. And now, Bentley will be forever on Reddit.

I miss you, Bentley. I love you.

I don’t wish saddle thrombus on any pet owner. Such a traumatic experience as our Meeko (2.5 y/o) was a perfectly normal cat at 11pm on Saturday night and was pts due to the severity of the blood clot 11am the next day. This absolutely devastated me, and my heart is completely shattered. He was my soul cat, cuddle buddy, β€œgo with the flow” kitty who showed my husband and I his unwavering love. I miss him tremendously and it’s only been two days. Does the pain get any easier?

Sharing my favorite pictures of my sweet Meeko and his beautiful green eyes that I will never forget (and one picture of his beautiful sister he has left behind & who we are showing so much love to). β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ήβ€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

18 years ago, I adopted three fluffy littermates who filled my world with joy. Yesterday, the last of them, Her Imperial Highness, La Gata Raquela, She of the White Feets and Tufted Cheeks, Diva Supreme of Chez Fluffy, crossed the Rainbow Bridge barely three weeks after her sister. She had such a feisty, persnickety personality, full of tuxie’tude. I miss her so much. Last night, coming back to an empty house, I think I cried harder than I ever have in my life.

i just recently got 2 kittens of my own, but it made me think of my childhood cat. His name was Chewy from Star Wars but I called him Kitty and it was the only thing he would respond to.

He was an outdoor stray that showed up around the time I was adopted. We took him with us when we moved and he happened to stay. Knowing what I do now, I wish I could've given him the best indoor life with lots of good food. We didn't know his age but he lived a good estimated 12-13 years. He was the best cat ever and let my little self drag him around our yard. <3

3 weeks old. She was our little miracle baby, born in a litter of 4 and Her and her sister Puck were the only ones to make it. I woke up to her mom (Rue) and sister (Puck) crying and meowing and she was just gone.. We rushed them all to the emergency vet but she was too far gone. The vet said there could be so many reasons and not to blame ourselves but I always will. Keeping close monitoring on Rue and Puck as they grieve. I’m so sorry baby I love you so much.
