Request ULPT Request: political mail

My mother collects my mail for me (she doesn't open it, just keeps it in a pile for me to gather when I can) lately it has been ads from the Democratic party. My mother is very right wing/pretend hippy, and she knows I do not share the same views at all. She would make comments whenever I collect my stuff, "I wouldn't vote for them if it were me", "they are corrupt" blah blah blah. Whatever. BUT I think it would be funny to tick her off a bit. It gives her something to do. What should I subscribe to if I wanted to tick her off whenever she gets the mail? Thank you!

Right wing hippy?

Seems contradictory, but I think there is a connection between the right wing and anti-VAX/your own immune system is enough/we need to go back to nature/fuck pharmaceuticals, smoke weed/anti-establishment etc.

Yup. Next door neighbor is a Trump - organic - antivax - homeschool Christian.

The "wellness community" was deliberately targeted by Donald's minions and many got sucked in.

It’s because they’re so dumb they’re still riding the “Jenny McCarthy told me vaccines cause autism” train after 20 years.

Perfect target audience.

What do you think happened to the Woodstock generation? A very large majority of them are 'fuck you, got mine', MAGA types who peaked in the 80s.

Basically she was a hippy because it was fashionable at the time. While she participated in some typical activities, her values fall short.

The original hippies were selfish narcissists who did whatever they wanted. Some of them spouted political ideals but most of them just liked to get high and fuck and not work and judge other people for not being like them. So, yeah, right wing hippie makes a lot of sense.

i’m guessing ‘pretend’ means more essential oils and homeopathic mlm mom

Not really. But she believes vaccines caused autism. She's too lazy to get involved with essential oils.

My friend the hippy went totally MAGA this year. We all thought his account got hacked but no.

Mailing list for your local Pride organization.

IDK, maybe you can donate to any organization that provides free or low-cost legal help for people whose rights have been trampled on by right-wing nutcases or tangentially affiliated groups? Bonus points if you do it in her name. It can be TOUGH to get off their mailing lists once they have your address.

Subscribe to the print edition of The Guardian. If she reads it before giving it to you, so much the better. It's still independent and proud to be a reliable source of good information, opinion, and culture. Zero conspiracy theories. The Guardian's world is definitely one I want to live in!

Distill Social sends stickers supporting the left, free. I may or may not have sent them to my sister.

Mother Jones magazine. And you'll be supporting excellent investigative journalism.

She had quoted, "we all share the same germs" and she couldn't give a crap if blood accidentally got on the cutting board.

She is nicely getting and saving your mail. Maybe we should give her tips.
