No one asks you your age.

In the UK I'm sure I was told it's illegal to ask for it during application stage. Too lazy to Google it

You can list those odd jobs and explain it by saying that you worked those jobs to pay for your studies showing also that you are a hard worker

Will your parents be willing to get a call from potential employers and verify that you were running the family farm? Have you forgotten about the time you had an import export business?

I have a shit ton of gaps in my employment. I use a functional resume that talks about my skills and abilities rather than a chroniclogical timeline.

I have lied on every single job application I’ve submitted and they’ve never said a word. Granted I’m a mechanic, and most shops are more interested in having a good wrench than a solid resume.

“I cannot discuss as that position required me to sign an NDA”

You could try saying they were paid cash labor jobs, you didn't keep in contact with the employer if they ask for references

It's still work experience. Especially these days, alot of people are working part time jobs and side hustles to make ends meet.

Google companies that closed in your area within the last few years. Use one or 2 of those.. say you got laid off when the companies shut down. Pandemic took em down or something. While you’re at it, give yourself management experience on your resume… use ChatGPT to make one. Also, my NDA idea is a good fallback.

Ex hiring manager and MBA here. Companies are and always will be ageist. Your age, weight and gender matter more than your experience because it's the hardest thing to hide. I've seen unqualified people get hired to every profession, even as medical doctors, because they as an exterior fit the unqualified interviewer's prejudice. The interviewer knows how to work the system to make their illegal preferences look like random chance, because they've already seen qualified people quit because of how shit the conditions are. If you know you can do the job they require, lie about and upsell everything. Study the company before hand. Make sure you drink their Kool-aid before they ever see you coming. Concerned if a crony internal hire might automatically get the job? They recommended you but didn't want the boss to know. You have no gaps in work history and the past two years were exactly what the current job is but they weren't this job which you've been pining to get for years. Even if you get caught, which is unlikely, most managers like a new crony that will lie to be on their side. Have fun at your new job.
