California always leads the way….but gets a lot of hate for it……”they hate us cause they ain’t us”…go Cali!!

72

u/CorrectTwist7520 1d ago

The west coast really just needs to go ahead and secede from the union.

57

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

At least fiscally. Why are we sending money to Washington and they will withhold our own money if we have a disaster... If we don't play their silly culture war? We could fund our own rescue efforts, our own Medicaid, and everything else if Uncle Sam wasn't draining the coffers to prop up failed states, pauper states, and Washington pork.

27

u/CorrectTwist7520 1d ago

California alone has the world’s 6th largest economy.

9

u/Mammoth-Access-1181 1d ago

When did we drop to 6?

15

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

I think it flip flops between 4-6 depending on what all is going on in the world and in CA

4

u/CorrectTwist7520 1d ago

Ooh looks like we went up. Last time I checked was a couple of years ago.

-20

u/Qs9bxNKZ 1d ago

Not because of the politicians. A few fresh water ports and finding gold helped, as did Christianity

12

u/Enough-Parking164 1d ago

The Gold was mined AGES ago. “Christianity”? You speak the bullshit. Our economy is AGRICULTURE,Aerospace, Tech/internet, entertainment and more. We made America cash rich with the gold nearly TWO CENTURIES AGO! Is,,, is THAT how out-of-date you are?

8

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

Christianity didn't help shit. Ask the indigenous people. Smallpox and slavery! What a blessing! /S Climate, fertile land, oil, women and air conditioning actually made the the west great 🤷🏼‍♀️ Hollywood, wine and tech kept it going. Not gold or bibles.

8

u/WholeUnique60 23h ago

Christianity?💀💀 did you pray for some pennys

4

u/mike37388 14h ago

The other cult

3

u/Jedi_Bish 10h ago

Bro look at the Bible Belt. How’s their economies compared to ours? I assure you Christianity has absolutely nothing to do with California’s innovation and trade success.

21

u/No_Camp9628 1d ago

All the blue states need to secede. If the red states want help they can negotiate with us rather than holding us fucking hostage in an abusive relationship that they keep telling us we have to stay in for our own good.

2

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

I don't think there's a legal avenue for that.

15

u/No_Camp9628 1d ago

I don't think legality really matters anymore.

What are they going to do, withhold more funding?

13

u/_LoudBigVonBeefoven_ 1d ago

Do laws matter anymore?

14

u/Sensitive-Raisin-108 19h ago

sir we have literal felon as president

6

u/Patient_Ad1801 23h ago

Apparently not actually 🤷🏼‍♀️

6

u/Most_Technology557 20h ago

I think it would be easier to double the amount of both houses and make senate 2 minimum per state and then 1 additional for each let’s say 3 million people. Without the electoral college and even amounts of senators per state low population red states are done!

4

u/WileyWatusi 1d ago

All the people who hate us are not for that for some reason. Probably because we pay for their welfare red states.

5

u/Sea-Interaction-4552 19h ago

Gotta take Oregon and Washington with us! Well, the western half

-8

u/seanulus21 1d ago

Please leave and keep your ppl from coming to Nevada. They drive like shit.

8

u/G_yebba 1d ago

Nevada's economy would crater if California stopped spending money there. But you are correct, they drive like shit.

6

u/___YesNoOther 1d ago

Ya, "keep your ppl from coming to Nevada" to live, but please, keep coming in droves to spend spend spend.

3

u/Praised_Be_Bitch 23h ago

These are lies, our driving skills are God-tier. I have never, not once, ran into the only car on a street. 😊

1

u/captaincmdoh 1d ago

WTF does an anus have to do with anything?

1

u/Demoikratia 1d ago

We the beast!

1

u/RiskSpecialist01 7h ago

CA is leading paving the way for a communist nation at this point.

1

u/glue2music 6h ago

Hahahaha….to be so delusional…..and Trumpie boi isn’t?

0

u/MaliciousIntentWorks 22h ago

Yes but I can't say that it's always thought through or executed correctly. California sunk in billions to solve the homeless crisis but mismanaged the money on projects that went nowhere. Sure it was well intentioned but for the same amount of money they could have given every homeless person a yearly income of $20,000 for housing for five years. Instead most of the money was wasted on the concept of helping people and very little substance while the homeless crisis keeps getting worse.

-8

u/TwoBlocks2 1d ago

Cali leads the way in malls that went out of business due to Democrats soft on crime policies.

8

u/MasterFigimus 1d ago

Word-word-number account with a bad take?

Shocking. Surprising. Unexpected.

-12

u/Qs9bxNKZ 1d ago

Highest per capita homeless. PG&E blowing up and burning down towns.

Let’s not mention the wealth disparity in many places.

9

u/Alert_Star8065 1d ago

I’d estimate 99 percent of the homeless come from elsewhere, other states, to be in the sunshine. Most are not native locals.

2

u/TexasRN1 23h ago

Go move to Texas my friend. They will welcome you.

-36

u/AdEasy765 1d ago

Your state has been destroyed by the Democrats. I used to live in California. I grew up there and you couldn’t pay me to move back. The insanity that they received billions of dollars to fix the state fix homeless blah blah blah and they did none of it. The evidence is irrefutable all over the state homeless everywhere. What happened all the money?! Typical Democrat situation!’

24

u/The-Rat-Kingg 1d ago

Someone doesn't know their history. Other states literally gave their homeless people bus tickets to CA for decades. The state also pays for every red state in the country because red states don't produce anything besides welfare queens.

You're truly one dumb motherfucker.

20

u/glue2music 1d ago

Seen the stock market today?

-16

u/smokineecruit 1d ago

So rich people are losing their money, I thought that’s what the left is rallying around

13

u/StealthMaizero 1d ago

No what progressives want is for the richest people in America to stop dodging the f****** tax man and pay their fair share in percentage like the rest of the American working class. Along with NOT GETTING MORE TAX CUTS for themselves by bribing the Republican party. (aka “funding” “lobbying”)

9

u/glue2music 1d ago

I know it won’t make any difference…..but it WILL affect you and everyone. Enjoy!

5

u/NicWester 1d ago

Rich people aren't losing anything.

When a stock price goes down that's because people are selling them in volumes large enough to affect the demand--don't buy that person's stock at $10 a share, buy mine at $9.90, please!--but that also means someone is buying them.

Who has the money to but stock right now? The ultrawealthy. So when the economy tanks and there's a democratic wave that stabilizes and fixes the economy (again) and those shares regain their value those same ultrawealthy people are going to be even MORE wealthy and hold an even greater stake in key industries.

4

u/WholeUnique60 23h ago

401ks around the country are tanking, everyday investments gone, grocery prices have doubled, countries slapping up to 40% retaliatory tariffs on us

But democrats are fine. We’ve all been saving since November and got our shit sorted because…. Wait for it…

We told you so

1

u/Basic-Government9568 6h ago

"The rich" apparently includes every person with a 401k

1

u/SpiderDeUZ 1d ago

It's not just the rich, which is not what the left wants

13

u/AngryCur 1d ago

Good. We want you gone.

California is the richest, most vibrant state in the union because smart policies make a difference. California is decades ahead of the crapheaps that litter the rest of the United States

11

u/mrblack1998 1d ago

Cry more buddy. Glad you left

10

u/Phoneuser717 1d ago

The day your inbred ass left was a good day for the best state in the country. Thank you for doing the right thing.

9

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

What happened to all the money? The fucking feds took it you absolute bag of hammers. In 2024, CA sent $693.2 BILLION dollars to the feds in taxes and received back $609.1 billion. So we could technically ask for up to $80 billion and change and still not cost the rest of you A PENNY. Not a single penny. We are funding you and you sit there hating us for it instead of working on fixing your own stinking pauper red state.

Typical Republican idiocy.

14

u/h20poIo 1d ago

$587,616,657 Collective Tax Revenue Paid

$116,803,579 Federal Share of State Government Revenue

$5.03. Federal Tax Dollars Paid per Dollar of Support Received

7

u/JBGC916_ 1d ago

I'm so glad trash like you left. Gfy.

6

u/AlienRosie75 1d ago

Do us Californians a favor and stop allowing the red states to send their homeless over here, would you? And also, get your grubby hands off the money we send red states because they're the real welfare queens and can't take care of their own.

2

u/ChickenChaser5 1d ago

4 year old account with negative karma? Yeah im sure everyone else is the problem.

2

u/WholeUnique60 23h ago

You’re welcome to never come back :) happy to hear you’re happy in whatever red welfare state you moved too

2

u/SpiderDeUZ 1d ago

Has either party presented any solutions for those problems?  Can't put it all on one party, when they other hasn't done much, or in current times, male this much worse

1

u/_LoudBigVonBeefoven_ 1d ago

Bye Felicia

1

u/bigdipboy 16h ago

You are a bot or a Russian

70

u/BossParticular3383 1d ago

These tariffs are nothing but a shakedown. And his crypto coin just happens to be a perfect way to launder the money. Biggest criminal in history.

16

u/DEAZE 1d ago

I agree. He’s literally using our country’s resources and reputation to bet that his stupid ass tariffs will bring manufacturing back to the US. Nobody is asking for this, we all just wanted prices to go down and now they’re skyrocketing.

13

u/BossParticular3383 1d ago

But my point is that he doesn't care if the tariffs "bring manufacturing back." If that was the goal, then the pressure would be applied more slowly, and with more precision, because it takes a decade, at minimum, for businesses to shift manufacturing. And with all the chaos and uncertainty and sloppiness of these tariffs - business are NOT going to want to make huge investments towards new plants and infrastructure. This is NOT some kind of hail mary economic strategy. It's a motherfucking shakedown. Pundits need to stop analyzing this as if it has any kind of legitimacy.

7

u/DEAZE 1d ago

Oh I absolutely agree. I mean if we’re all being honest here, we just need to ask ourselves why Russia didn’t receive a SINGLE tariff out of all the other hundreds of countries here.

The only logical answer is that someone was bought and paid to destroy our country from the inside out. Both economically and diplomatically. These tariffs do both in a short amount of time and it won’t matter how fast new manufacturing takes to root here in our country.

Pundits have no power here. We need to get so angry that the rest of these spineless republican senators and Mike Johnson see that the majority of the country is pissed. Only then will more of them stand up to this senile tyrant. We’re at 4 republican senators, but we need more. Then we need Mike Johnson to fear for his job so much he brings the bill to vote in the House.

3

u/BossParticular3383 1d ago

Pundits have the power to frame this for what it is - a crime. Fox is working Overtime to sell the "short term suffering/long-term gain" angle. They have removed the dow jones ticker from the chryon ...

3

u/DEAZE 1d ago

I mean I agree they can and have the power to change their bases minds. But will they? The probability of them doing that is lower than actually getting the senators to hear it from their constituents themselves.

Fox should absolutely tell it like it is but then they are easier to lash out and punish, just like how he does with reporters and news agencies he bans from press briefings. But yeah in an ideal world, Fox pundits should report the news instead of just sucking up to this snowflake of a president.

2

u/BossParticular3383 1d ago

I guess it's just going to take alot of relentless suffering ... I think in 6 months with no relief in sight, there will be a sea-change. Maybe not at Fox thought (lol) ...

3

u/DEAZE 1d ago

Yeah unfortunately.. it sucks because we as a country try could have been out of the clear and on our way to take advantage of a growing economy that was on the rise just 3 months ago.

Now we gotta hope that this crazy ass president doesn’t bankrupt our country (both social security and 401K’s lol), before this administration gets checked, and checked hard.

Also the senators are working on preventing more tariffs from happening, so it can happen sooner but only if the Speaker of the House brings the bill to a vote.

3

u/BossParticular3383 1d ago

Yeah ... if only we'd elected a sane, law-abiding person ... I will NEVER get over the complete disgust I feel for people who voted for him this time. After everything.

3

u/DEAZE 1d ago

I’ll never get over it too. I’m 100% with you, those people deserve the lion share of suffering that we’re all receiving because of their careless mistakes.

Nobody is asking for manufacturing to come back- said no one.

52

u/OkThatWasMyFace 1d ago

The Golden State might just survive Trump's Golden Era

29

u/Cynical_Thinker 1d ago

Trump's Golden Era

More like golden shower.

4

u/squirrelcartel 1d ago

He sure enjoys those

1

u/Fantastapotomus 1d ago

I think good ol’ dump is more of a scat man.

2

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

Trump's Orange Era

38

u/Mountain_carrier530 1d ago

I may not agree with everything California does, but to keep our state's economy stable while giving a middle finger to 47 is definitely one of the top 3 things I can get behind.

30

u/your-ok 1d ago

At least I can be a proud Californian, while trump shames the entire country.

6

u/glue2music 1d ago

With ya all the way!

11

u/BingoWasTheFarmer 1d ago

There's going to be a ballot initiative for secession in 2028 . . . just saying

12

u/NervousDiscount9393 1d ago

If that does end up happening, it certainly has my vote

6

u/Achron9841 1d ago

Can we in washington and oregon go with you?

4

u/NervousDiscount9393 1d ago

Not sure how realistic multiple states seceding into one country would be but hell yeah you’d be welcome

1

u/WholeUnique60 23h ago

I’m only voting for it if we can take you guys with us

2

u/The_Madmartigan_ 1d ago

I wonder how that would play out

2

u/NervousDiscount9393 1d ago

Probably very messy tbh. Federal government wouldn’t let that happen easily

1

u/ManCakes89 11h ago

Whatever’s left of it..

0

u/mezolithico 21h ago

The states would lose. Texas v White rules there is no right to succeed from the Union.

4

u/The_Madmartigan_ 21h ago

Not being rude with this comment but the rules don’t seem to matter much these days. But I agree it wouldn’t go well for any individual state.

1

u/NervousDiscount9393 20h ago

I’m not an expert on law by any means, but I feel like calling out the US government for not following the constitution could hypothetically be an argument for a state leaving the union if the federal government tried to bring that up. Maybe? I don’t know.

1

u/The_Madmartigan_ 20h ago

It’s probably true

1

u/___YesNoOther 1d ago

That or joining Canada.

Technically if we followed the rules, both options are not allowed without a congressional something something.

But, now that the rules don't matter anymore, we can do whatever we want! So, ya, let's join Canada. Gotta choose the sane parent when the addicted parent finally goes off the rails.

12

u/Abeliafly60 1d ago

Ca is gonna be a great country.

1

u/Honey-Scooters 18h ago

I love being in this state country 😊

9

u/Tennyson98 1d ago

I always like to say this to all the California nay sayers, we wouldn’t we have 44 million people if it was so shitty.

5

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

And we would not have booming tourism either form all over the world, including our corn and flyover states... They hate it but can't wait to come see it and drop a couple K to see the mouse or the beach or wine country or ski resorts....

3

u/ElkMasterGeneral 1d ago

I heard that California knows how to flaunt it.

6

u/National_Total6885 22h ago

Could we just go ahead and make that a west coast coalition type thing please.

5

u/Achron9841 1d ago

I hope the rest of the western blue states can benefit if they manage to succeed in bypassing tariffs

5

u/Ok_buddabudda2 1d ago

I've got serious issues with California, but sometimes they do what is right. In this case, bravo California. Lead the way guys.

3

u/UserWithno-Name 1d ago

Just let them use those fake labels or have China etc etc ship to a country with 10% (or less if possible) ones and then to the US. Circumvent all of it

4

u/erobuck 1d ago

Way to go California!

3

u/Awolfnamedecho 1d ago

I’m proud to be from California! At least we have the economy, tourism and power to negotiate with other countries. Let’s goooo

Crossing my fingers, but then again this is an article from Newsweek, which isn't exactly a stellar source these days

2

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

Is anything? MSM kissed the maga hat

3

u/SlugBeef 1d ago

Illinois already doin this with Mexico!

3

u/Reverse2057 1d ago

Please dear God let this be the case. Boss just told me it'd gonna be a rocky next year or two depending on how bad it gets, and I out loud posited that I hope California somehow figures out a way to protect itself. We will feel the impact hopefully slower than the deep south, and with our padding maybe might (strong maybe) have more time to plan. I hope we can work out a game plan for this shit. J just got a car loan and cannot afford to lose any income or I'm fucking toast.

3

u/[deleted] 20h ago

YES!

3

u/Different-Pop2780 20h ago

I love California

3

My home state. 💕

2

u/Ro8ertStanford 1d ago

Watch everybody support secession and give the west coast a dorky name like "Cascadia" or "Pacifica"

3

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

Who cares what the name is

2

u/Demoikratia 1d ago

👊🏼🇺🇸🔥

2

u/aclaypool78 10h ago

Go California, but Illinois made an agreement with Mexico a couple of weeks ago. Let's all lead the way.

2

u/penguinkrug 9h ago

Got to admit I was getting frustrated with not hearing from Newsome amongst so much crazy. Very happy when he broke his silence, it was for this! Fuck yeah!!!

2

u/CallUOutBA 7h ago

California needs to find a way to separate from the rest of America. Why support ignorant Red States that elect asshole politicians that steal other Americans hard earned taxes?

2

u/kl7aw220 6h ago

You gotta do what you gotta do when the US gov is failing you.

1

u/TipTopBeeBop 6h ago

You’re a poet and may not know it. 👌

2

u/greenman0003 3h ago

Let’s go Big Gretch, you need to do this with Canada to safe the auto supply chain

2

u/TheRealBuddhi 2h ago

California needs to stop paying Federal taxes.

1

u/Wise138 1d ago

While I support this, not sure it's legal. Tariffs are Fed jurisdiction.

3

u/WholeUnique60 23h ago

California can advocate for its economic interests and seek to influence international trade dynamics, any formal agreements with foreign importers would require congressional consent to be legally binding

1

u/DDar 17h ago

How does this even work? Won’t products be subject to federal import duties upon entry to CA ports? Can CA really just ignore that if they wish?

1

u/SpiritualTwo5256 16h ago

Not sure how they could get away with bypassing tariffs if they are put on federally California can’t just undo it.

1

u/FaceThief9000 5h ago

I mean did Congress pass the tariffs? If it was just Trump then fuck 'em, Congress holds tariff power not the President.

1

u/Jedi_Bish 10h ago

Hell yeah! Thank you daddy Newsom!

1

u/DukeNeuge 10h ago

Why are people that hate Elon keep posting on X?

1

u/GronkDaSlayer 7h ago

That certainly would be great, but I have serious doubts on the feasibility of that. There are probably a host of legal hurdles and whatnot. On the plus side, if that were to happen it would make the fanta fuhrer angry as shit.

0

u/Challenge_The_DM 1d ago

This is just asking importers and exporters to ignore federal law? Seems pretty risky

8

u/useless_rejoinder 1d ago

You seem to be under the impression that the rule of law means anything anymore. What a great place to be.

3

u/Achron9841 1d ago

Executive orders are notably not law

2

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

If the feds don't follow the law, what is it for? Toilet paper? Fuck em

2

u/WholeUnique60 23h ago

Executive orders aren’t law

If they were we’d be so fucked cause Trump has signed 104 in two months. For context Biden signed 163 his whole 4yrs, 34 in his first two months. And the average for a two term president is 237.

0

u/BoutTaWin 21h ago

yeah see how that works out lol

-1

u/LV_Knight1969 9h ago

So basically put, California is intentionally violating the Constitution….and , as if my magic, that’s a good thing.

1

u/FaceThief9000 5h ago

I mean the President doesn't have the power to actually levy tariffs either, as that is a power of Congress.

1

u/LV_Knight1969 3h ago

Incorrect …There’s 6 major federal laws that give the President statutory power to levy tarriffs.

There’s no law that allows states to override a federal tarriff.

1

u/FaceThief9000 1h ago

You're ignoring that Congress extended that power through their own legislation. Nowhere in the Constitution is it found that the President has tariff power. They could easily revoke that privilege, it is a privilege, not a power of the office itself.

-7

u/TheOBRobot 1d ago

Oh cool, another Nullification Crisis.

-8

u/Qs9bxNKZ 1d ago

After seeing towns destroyed and people killed in Paradise CA by PG&E?

After seeing SCE start fires near Pacific Palisades, destroying billions in homes?

Yeah, tell us how CA is leading the way. Appreciate the contribution to the carbon footprint as well.

4

u/Moonsmark 1d ago

California is doing everything to restore those areas to become livable again. They have to replace plumbing and electric wiring at the city level because everything melted.

Edited to fix spelling error

2

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

PG & E is a filthy corporation NOT a state run enterprise. We don't like them either. We don't want their fires. Don't blame the people of California for the stupid capitalism doing stupid capitalism things lol. It's the system of our whole country not just the west lol

1

u/Qs9bxNKZ 1d ago

The CPUC put into office by the Democrats oversees the business practices of PG&E.

The AG can bring criminal charges, not just against the company but individuals. Did the former, not the latter. No one went to jail when PG&E was found criminally liable.

1

u/Patient_Ad1801 1d ago

Cpuc is also appointed by Republicans at times. It's shit and they are unelected. Depends on who is governor and which state senators confirm their corrupt asses. Don't put it on Dems just because a Dem is in office lol. We don't like them either. Would be nice if Newscum wasn't on the PG&E teat but he's still better than a Trumpanzee who would let the corporations run even MORE rampant over us with fewer regulations and such... Dumb and dumber are the two choices when it comes to choosing a politician to deal with PG&E. They're not going to do anything for us because PG&E is their biggest donor, regardless of party
