EMBROIDERY Progress on my sisters couch
I’m almooooooost done with this project and while I’m somewhat annoyed bc my sister’s cats apparently are still scratching at this couch and I’m basically positive will destroy the decorative part, I am proud of the work I’ve done!

You could get those plastic sticky things to put on top of your work to preserve it ❤️ - we use these and it's worked so far https://www.amazon.com/cat-scratch-furniture-couch-protector-deterrent/dp/B07DT83CBV/

If it comes with pins, you may want to not use them, depending on the cat's personalities. Our extremely curious cat nearly ate one, & that would be a big problem, & a huge vet bill!

I should have used those on my upholstered bed 🙃. My cat is indoor/outdoor and has much to scratch on. He’s made my bed his 🤭

I am picturing you embroidering as quickly as possible while trying to fend off the cats with your other hand.

And maybe a knee or foot too. OP’s gotta go full-body zone defense. Or maybe goalie is the better metaphor?

Actually when I went to attach the fabric I tilted it up on the side and was like WHY DIDNT I DO MORE OF THE WORK THIS WAY

This is so great - what cool additions. Although yes, I too would worry about all my hard work being ripped to shreds!

Looks really cute! And matches the couch perfectly. …just random but I staple gunned cat scratch pads to my couch. I got so pissed off one day and just did it. But the couch was ruined and I have no talent. I come to this sub to get motivation lol

I mostly got my cats to stop scratching the couch by putting double sided furniture tape (designed to be put on furniture and deter cats) where they liked to scratch and also adding 3 Berber carpet textured scratchers nearby.
They no longer "scratch" but still sometimes put their claws in the couch, which pulls threads occasionally.

How do you even do this

The bottom was already ripped and I cut it and cleaned up the edge, then while I could reach both sides I embroidered the trees, then I attached fabric to the underside to sew the raggedy edge to and sewed it back together

I admit I admire your work but honestly I would have gotten a wide accent binding/tape and put it around the edge of the couch. Bc otherwise you will have a couch with a lovely border on one side of the couch.

So cute!
(Unsolicited advice, sorry. If you can, get a cat scratcher so they'll be less tempted to scratch the couch.)
