SASHIKO Accidental shien thrift still deserves love
I recently bought a pair of trousers that I really liked the colours and fit off. Awesome! No real issues here.
It wasn't until I got into the car with the rest of my thrifting company that I discovered I had bought a pair of shien trousers. Wow! Great! That explains why the belt loop broke when I tried to put them on!
siiiiiggggghhhhh.
I couldn't return them obviously, and I still really liked them. But now there's an explination as to why I'm gonna have to repair them more often than most jeans. I'm gonna see this as an opportunity to strengthen them and my skills in sashiko.
I'm not gonna let them go to landfill!

Eh, they are cheaply made which just means you get to mend them more! πππ and I would only ever thrift their stuff. Dobe are my days of purchases from them.

Honestly I'm kinda happy about getting to mend them a bunch. It's a perfect past time for me while watching stuff!

Thrifting is always better than direct from the source. Even better to try to repair these kinds of cheaply made garments. Make them last for as long as possible. Kinda like fighting against its intention of being throwaway fashion.

Yes yes yes! I've talked about this in person with a bunch of people- fighting against systems can be done in so many ways, and for me this is one of them.

Great work!! It's like you reverse karma'd an otherwise wasteful, near "landfill-ready" brand, you rock!

Nothing wrong with thrifting Shein! Great keeping it out of the landfill

Itβs soooo satisfying to me actually to patch up fast fashion pieces and keep wearing them if I already have them haha.
I have some Shein clothes I bought ages ago before I really understood anything about them, a few of them Iβm still wearing occasionally because I was able to alter/fix them after they reached their 3-wear quota and started disintegrating lol.

I will NEVER buy shein new but I think thrifting is reasonable, it keeps the garment out of the landfill. Great mend!
