SASHIKO First go at sashiko -- I mended the flannel I've had since high school! So happy to bring some new life to my favorite shirt

I've had this flannel for easily 10 years and wore it daily with the sleeves rolled up for much of that time. Eventually the elbows and rolled edges started to wear, so I stopped wearing it and retired it for a while. The other day I decided it deserved some attention once again and tried my hand at some simple patches!

Next time I think I'll finish the patches by rolling the edges, especially on a cuff like this since I wear them rolled up. But overall I'm super happy with the result and can't wait to wear this flannel again!

Beautiful. Hard to believe it's your first mend. Well done!

Thank you so much!! I've done plenty of embroidery and other hand sewing, so I'm definitely comfortable with a needle and thread. I still learned a lot in the process!

Thank you! I was drawn to the triangles in the fully lined pattern, but I'm really happy with how my stitches just happened to look like stars. I'm hooked, I want to stitch this on everything now!

Thank you! I was unsure what pattern to do for a while before settling on the simple tessellated triangles/hexagons, then they ended up looking like little stars! Really pleased with all my happy accidents

The organic shashiko work on the strict plaid design is a delightful composition.

You're so right, thank you for pointing that out!! That's also why I went with pastels for my patch and thread, I thought they contrasted nicely with the deep red and navy of the flannel.
