Fraying zip - replacement time?

Any ideas on how to fix this without disrupting function? I feel like any mend that’s strong enough to withstand further fraying would be too thick for the zip to go over. Never tried to replace a fly before so am a bit wary of it.

Most cleaners will replace zippers - this is an example of when you want to pay a pro.
