MIXED METHODS Added buttons and did a quick darn on my WIP “battle” jacket!

I thrifted this jacket ages ago and it only had four buttons left when I got it. I finally decided to replace them all! I’ve done eight so far (including the sleeve cuffs) and have two more to do (the pockets). My darning skills are slowly but surely improving and I’m fairly pleased with how this one came out. It’s a great use for the hoard of multicolored thread I’ve been sitting on for years.

I still have a few more major repairs to do on this jacket (notably the seam by the buttons and covering the sleeve cuffs which are quite ripped up) and I have yet to finish putting patches on the back, but I’m getting closer and closer to where I want it to be every day!

My mom wears visibly mended army jackets all the time. This is so her. Love it, this was comforting AND cute!

She says the same about you! I sent this to her, and she has one similar with a daisy patch on one pocket, she said she’s gonna add some like yours today :)

that darn is amazing! is it a striping yarn, or several yarns or what?

It’s a “color changing” embroidery floss! Apparently the dye work is consistent because it seems to have pooled into a kind of flannel pattern!
