INVISIBLE Spouse fave t-shirt fix. Neckline seam holes, small fabric holes, worn neckline binding.

Starting product. Note wear on binding edge, probably from beard.

Whipstitch to rejoin fabric to neckline binding . Just to the left, you can see I've repaired this shirt once before.

Alternating picking up top and bottom 1-2 "knit" stitches with running stitch. Pretties up the seamline.

Tiny and small hole needs repair.

Whipstitch repair with single thread from reverse side through the knit loops of the fabric (for the larger hole). Tiny pick stitches to join and fortify the rest.

Cut binding on inside next to seam, then again at the folded edge where it was wearing. Resewed with a whipstitch with some give. Binding is now half orginal height.

Finished - repaired product. A couple mistakes where I accidentally went through the front layer of the binding when whipstitching the binding.

Ooh this is so good! I just had a favorite t shirt that was really holey in many places but I didnt think it was possible to sew it like this. So I just cut mine up into small pieces of rectangle to be used as my personal nose rag bcs I'm snotty.

My mom used to throw my dad's shirts in the rag bin, but then she'd catch my dad wearing it again and smelling like furniture polish. đŸ˜‚ She began cutting them up into small pieces after that.

Your neck binding fix is brilliant!

Thanks! If it was less worn, I probably would have opened it up the same, trimmed off 1/8" on the edge and fixed the wear at the halfway point by hand. Then refold and restitch so the repaired spots are a little on the inside. Hope that helps someone else attempting it.

This is so inspiring. My husband has several shirts like this. I was going to replace but now I'll try to repair

Do eeeet! It's a nice project to do when rewatching movies or series. Lots of tiny stitches, lots of patience, no rush. An OttLite really helps.
