PATCH Fixed a hole in my partner's sweater 🌙
Partner thrifted this sweater for half off due to a hole in the back, knowing that I could do something cool with it. And I did! He has a whimsical, wizard-y aesthetic and he requested the rainbow thread he bought me, which really makes this for me.
I patched the inside really roughly first to secure it, then covered the hole from the outside with the pretty Moon. Then I went twice around with a whipstich using the rainbow thread and I love how it turned out! The patches are just old tshirt scraps I had.
It looks so good we both kinda wish it was on the front! 😊

PATCH First patch!
I've had this shirt for YEARS. I have worn it with safety pins ever since I pulled it out of the dryer with part of the front ripped out and stretched. I finally decided to mend it today and I'm really happy with the result!!!

PATCH Welp. That was not my intention…
Has anyone else accidentally made a dick with their mending? Sigh. I’m not redoing it. 🤦♀️

PATCH I go to welding school and people are constantly throwing away gloves with only one or two holes; at this rate I’ll never need to buy another pair. Franken-gloves for the win!

PATCH My anxious pup licks to put himself to sleep. In one of my favorite duvets he licked this hole. I patched it up with flannel. Bonus Pic of the criminal lol.
I don't know why that diagonal stitch came out that way. I actually hemmed the patch before putting it on there, that's thanks to seeing the great stuff you guys do. Previously holes created by him I just slapped it on there, casual as you please. I have a comforter he chewed about 6 big bites out of the edges, I finally have a plan to fix that, those pictures coming soon! Thanks guys for all the inspiration 🥰🪡🧵

PATCH Made my hoodie wearable with FMQ and applique
I've had this Mario hoodie for ages- but I'm not a gamer at all, and don't really wear anything with brands, so I never liked wearing this out of the house- but it's SO comfortable! Finally designed and made a patch to go over it, and am over the moon with how it looks. Each of the fish is a PNW classic. I don't have any pics of it washed, but it's settled in nicely and all the wiggly bits on the first pic went away. Now to make more....

PATCH A 5 year old’s first visible mend
My little niece is 5. She sees me wear clothes that are patched and has asked about the patches. Well, over the weekend while playing at my house she tore some of her favorite unicorn leggings and was so sad. I said “do you want me to show you how I patch clothes?” and she was interested. She did this all by herself with really very minimal help. I showed her like 2 stitches to try to demonstrate making them a bit smaller (her first stitches were like 3 inches long lol) and I pinched and held the fabric for her and she did all the sewing!
I’m also shocked I had such a good match of fabric to use for the patch lol. I guess black fabric with iridescent designs is not the rarest thing. The leggings are black with iridescent unicorns, patched with black with iridescent stars.

PATCH Cat Scratch Sofa Repair
My cat has been scratching my sofa for some time and it’s gotten to the point where I’ve been considering getting a new sofa. I did some searching online and saw that someone had used embroidered appliqué patches that they glued onto their sofa with fabric glue to cover up cat scratches. I decided to give it a try. I used Gorilla slow-drying fabric glue and straight pins to hold the patches in place while arranging them and while the glue was drying. I only took pictures of one side, but I aside both sides of the sofa. (I bought the cat a scratching a new post, hopefully he’ll use that instead of my repaired sofa.)

PATCH Knit cardigan patch job
These threads always get pulled and it’s such a pity cause I only wore it a few times. Fortunately I had some lace and used that to patch the snagged threads!

PATCH Kid 1st time hand sewing (AKA she needed knee patches)
My daughter (7yo) loves to dead this mustard corduroy pants and her school has a "no holes on clothes" policy. So imagine her horror when they got a hole on the knee after a rough play session with her friends.
I thought I could just darn them on the sewing machine (I've done that to other pants), but the result was not esthetically pleasing for her, and she wanted better for this particular pair.
Finally, it was decided that there would be iron on patches that she choose, but they didn't survive our washing machine (they started to peel off), I iron them again and though of adding some reinforce stitches, but she decided she wanted to give it a try 😍
So, here's her first attempt at "visible mending", and she's so proud of the final result that she wanted to share her efforts.

PATCH Long time lurker, first time poster, I covered the flaking faux leather headband of my headphones with constellation fabric
I'm really proud of how well this turned out. I measured the arc lengths + widths for the inner & outer pieces, then backstitched them together most of the way. I pinned it to the headband and did a ladder stitch to close the other end. I kind of winged the end parts and then screwed the plastic caps back on.
I love repairing both fabric items and electronics, so this was a delightful combination of those two things.

PATCH Mending Boxers Volume 2
My husband gave me his blessing to use the lace lol. Not shown is the fabric added behind it to give it more durability.
There's a tiny hole in a different spot that I plan to fix with more lace, but that's a mend for another day!

PATCH Covered grease stains on my favorite sweater with patches .
Forgot to take a picture of the stains before I covered them. There’s one small stain to the bottom right of the top patch that I still need to cover. I might do some decorative embroidery to cover it.

PATCH Repaired the torn strap of this knockoff bag I got at the thrift store.
I found this knock off longchamp bag at the thrift store that had a torn handle and decided to try my first visible mend. I used whatever I had on hand, so cheap embroidery thread and a piece of a busted high pressure water hose from my job 😂 I love how it looks with the stripes and stitching. I know I’ll eventually have to reinforce all of them since they are cracking too, but for now I’ll wait and see how this repair holds up and maybe look into a heavier thread for the others.
