Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster.
I have this sweatshirt I wear all the time but the cuffs are starting to fray. I’m not sure how to go about fixing these holes in the first two pictures as they’re on seams and on a fold. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to repair these holes.
For fun, I included a third picture with my first attempt at visible mending which also happened to be for another hole in this sweatshirt. I also made sure to add some pictures of my beloved fiend who created the hole lol.

Hey there! I’m new to this group and to mending clothes so please let me know if I need to post this somewhere else. Basically just asking what the title says. A lot of the yarn in the little teddy bears has started to thin out over the years and I’m wondering if there’s any way to fix that. Idk if you can tell in the pictures but the material that’s starting to thin is different from the surrounding black. It’s more of a soft almost fuzzy yarn (sorry I’m not familiar with the names of many fabric types). There’s also two holes on one of the bears, how would I go about stitching those? I love this sweater so much I’m so bummed it’s starting to fall apart on me.

I don’t need a super good repair. Just something practical enough so I can wear it again without it looking silly (Can’t see the white and no more frayed bits sticking out).
I think it would be really cool if I could make this broken section in the middle a different colour to the green to highlight a repair. But I’m not sure if that’s possible.
All I can think of is cutting it all off but then the string would not be even in length as I think it’s tied at the back, and I’m not sure if I could put the metal cap back on the new end.

Anyone have any cool ideas to patch this back up? (Excluding iron man ideas)

I got this vintage bentwood rocking chair at a charity shop a few years ago. Fell in love with the shape of it, got it for a song — and later found out it would have been worth a lot more in original condition! The chair is overall quite sturdy, but there is damage to the caning on the back. The purple upholstered seat is also a non-original element and I will be replacing it at some point.
For now, I’m looking for ideas to mend the caning. I know there are professionals who can do this, but I’d like to try something creative first. My hopes for the repair: - it provides coverage and support to the caning to prevent poking and further damage (but does not need to support much body weight, due to the location of the damage) - it is visually interesting in keeping with the overall design - it can be removed without damage to the chair if I ever decide to get it professionally repaired
My skills include embroidery and knitting. I can do some basic sewing and weaving, and I’m willing to learn/practice a technique before putting my hand to this chair. I’d love to hear some ideas, and see examples if anyone here has done something similar. Thank you!

i honestly love the distressed look but i have a really bad habit of destroying things (it's involuntary, like an itch i have to scratch) and this is one of my absolute favourite sweaters. i don't do any mending yet but want to and don't know what the best technique would be to keep myself from ruining the sleeve further!

Extreme newbie here. I've done a couple small repair things with embrodery thread before but this is my first time doing something of this scale haha. So I'm repairing one of my favourite shirts where the fabric has started to wear away by the seams. I've been sort of just making loops and stuff but not pulling it tight where the patches are wider to keep the fabric from bunching up but then I noticed that in those places, the string is super loose in the back and pulls up like in pic 2 (which I should have realized would happen but I honestly didn't think about it). How do I fix this? I am just trying to learn by doing so it might be an obvious fix but I have no clue ahaha...

Some red paint got splashed on a skirt I was wearing, and it’s definitely not coming off. Does anyone have ideas on how to “mend” or cover up the paint splatters? It’s only on the back so I want to make sure it’s still wearable in some way… I was thinking of painting over the splatters with some sort of pattern, but any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!!

I was trying to do some tie-dye and everything came out wrong. I know why they look dingy-I wasn’t careful enough with the black dye. But I have no idea why so much dye fell out, why some of it is wildly hue shifted, or why the factory pink on the last shirt vanished.
Please help me salvage these shirts! Embroidery, refashioning, anything but dyeing them again, I have sworn off dye for the time being.
I do have a plan for the zombified shirt, if anyone has some good slasher quotes I can embroider on it, please share.

Covering up a logo on the right side of the hat. Should I keep both birds or just cut out the rightmost one?

thanks to some of your kind comments on my last post I decided to attempt a little embroidered star to cover the stain near the collar in addition to mending the sleeves and holes around the tag.
I think it's giving kind of lightening and night sky vibes but I might try something else with the other shirt I have that's exactly the same as this one only more holes:
anyone have any color/theme ideas or suggestions? (marked as a request for this bit)
third picture is one of my helpers on this project

I'd like to make up some go-to patterns that are more than flowers alone. But I'm lacking great ideas.
What are your embroidery image ideas that are more neutral or even traditionally "manly". (Think male boomer here...)
Birds on the wing.
Fish.
Plant life. Oak leaves. Maple leaves, vines...
Acorns?
Others? Hoping you guys have a better imagination than I do on this.

not sure if this is the right reddit to post to, but i’m desperate lol
so this fake leather bag is about 10 years old, i love it so much, i use it every day and leave a trail of little black plastic peelies everywhere i go. I want to repair/mend it in any way possible, visible or not. thankfully the octopus is still intact and i want to try to keep it that way.
its cracking underneath the peeling parts so im wondering if there’s anything i can add to strengthen it somehow? like a patch or something? but i have no idea how to go about this, ive never messed with fake leather and i dont want to make it worse.
i don’t want to throw it away or get a new one (i don’t think this is sold anymore, the place i got it closed down), I also replaced the lining about 5 years ago and it still works well, and this bag has a lot of sentimental value to me.
please help me save this bag! any help is appreciated! :)

I’m not great at sewing besides basic stuff so any help is appreciated. The fabric in the whole area is very thin now.

I LOVE this tote bag, it's my daily driver. Bought it secondhand, the pleather on the bottom is peeling a lot. I'm thinking maybe a colorful fabric patch, what do y'all think?

After an impromptu tie dye session, I realized I got some dye on my new jeans. I'm devastated but hopeful you guys can give me advice how to make these still useful. Should I just tie dye them fully? Embroidery? Patches?
Photo 1 is the full extent. Photo 2 is how I typically wear the jeans.

How can I fix it? 😭 I can’t find the “flap” of skin he chewed off, so there’s a gaping hole that will cause a bunch of warping if I squish it and sew like a regular mend. Thought of trying a little pink felt patch to match the foot pad - it could be a “birthmark”? I’ve never darned before and am nervous about trying. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

This is a hand-me-down from a coworker. If you swipe your hand over the surface, more feathers start to poke out! I fear that if I try to stitch this material, it'll create more opportunities for fibers to escape. You can see the fibers on the tag in picture 2. Advice?

Trying to keep this pair of 70s 505’s kicking which I’ve been repairing for about six years. I’m cool with it being visible of course, but don’t want the repair to draw excessive attention cause it’s on the front. Or, should do something significantly larger? Like something that covers this part below the zipper and then goes to the inseam area? Any recs would be great.
