MIXED METHODS Denim opus complete!

I think my denim opus is finally complete. I "finished" these jeans some time ago, but I discovered some puckering across the front that I wasn't happy with. So. I had more mending to do to cover that up. I really am happy with the result!

MIXED METHODS Someone in r/cottagecore recommended this sub. The front fell off of my old cabinet so I replaced it with crochet granny squares.

MIXED METHODS I am THUSDEPARTED

My first pair, 1 week to make with the plastic winders of the singer 4452 which deeply broke on mešŸ¤®, I am thusdeparted, meaning to be the unmasking departure into rebirth imperfected, through boro inspired upcycling. A bit new to sewing.

I started out with what inspired me deeply, proleta re art, their works along with kapital deeply fueled the beginning of my journey.

Well, I now need a new machine, in the sew help sub Reddit, found someone who recommended the sailrite. The quality and affordability of it seem to be the one for me.

A bit tricky to find where you belong or those who resonate with your artistic expression, I thought posting here would allow for some synergy and exposure to my cause.

I just started my brand but it feels like more than that. Anyways this subreddit seems very inspiring and colourful, I love the works in here, hopefully this is somewhere I belong.

I live in Canada, the city of Toronto Ontario. A 22 year old male currently working at Costco part time trying to carve out my own path in this beautifully chaotic world. Have 1 college credit, as my program was a great imposition of technicality and creative suppression due to the large presence of spiteful envious ego.

I notice I deeply thrive on independence and with others where synergy exists, as it takes 2 to bridge the gaps of openness. Not sure what I should do now for school, hate my job, but deeply love those passion that my inner being deeply clings to as it may lead to my own liberation from this controlling despairing system of control. Anyways, forward is the only way to go, that in itself is a bittersweet luxury. I just hope I donā€™t give up on myself as I made a promise to me to not give up as I owe it deeply to myself.

Seems that I expressed way too deeply, well I guess that is what a leo ā™Œļø is for hehe.

One of my favorite mending projects so far, luckily the stars printed on the shirt were the perfect size to cover the tear.

These jeans have been mended all over but this pocket is one of my favorite details. I just like how the color combo turned out.

I used every type of patchwork that I know to mend these beauties, now I just need the weather to warm up so I can wear them!

MIXED METHODS Idk if it still counts as mending if the distressing is self inflicted but hereā€™s a jacket I made regardless

MIXED METHODS Jacket repairs

I bought this Icebreaker jacket more than a decade ago, and the wool has worn thin in spots (esp across the back where my crossbody bag strap goes), so Iā€™ve been patching it up with whatever fabric takes my fancy in the moment.

The patch with the crow is a WIP.

MIXED METHODS Beginner sashiko and freehand mending on work pantsā€¦

1st pair: Outdoor Research pants, needed some reinforcement and small hole patches. I had just received sashiko needles and thread, so they are practice pants for sashiko stitching.

2nd pair: freehand mending started before the first pair with regular sewing thread but still a work in progress. Doubled or quadrupled for color and strength. Gap jeans that my husband uses for work (on a boat in an industry that doesnā€™t care about bananas in the crotch šŸ˜‚), they always get ripped and have weird wear patterns and holes. Iā€™ve found I enjoy fixing them even if they are falling apart. Still working on bigger crotch patches and large thigh patches to give them more movement and hopefully less tearing in the future.

Iā€™m new to sashiko and mending overall. Iā€™m slow at it but enjoy being a little creative even though I mostly repair work clothes that will continue to get destroyed in some way. It can get a little existential at timesā€¦

Thrifted kids hoodie had a bunch of stains I couldnā€™t get out. I swapped them for fleece and crochet, and now itā€™s fun to wear again

MIXED METHODS Visible Mend on Daughterā€™s Pants

These are my eight year oldā€™s pants. She had holes by her back pockets and totally ripped open the knees. Most of the knees in her pants get ā€œblownā€ so I tried to make the knee extra loose on one side - weā€™ll see which survives longer.

(Please excuse the fur! I washed them after this.)

Did these today as my first ever repairs with needle and thread. Rough work, but great fun figuring out how to do it. Hopefully my work will improve, but these are functional and that's all I need.
