That’s actually really sad. I hope its pain is short lived.

Oh my gosh I had one that looked like this! His beak was so long! He hasn't come for bird seed in awhile. I have no idea if he's ok. I hope he is. He always seemed to be on his own too :(

In case you see a sick one again you should probably read the link above. They are saying to call the local wild life people to catch it so it won't spread the disease to other birds.

I can't reach him. He always sits high in a gum tree. He takes off. Tbh I think he's passed away. It's been about 8 months now.

A gum tree, you say? Are you sure it wasn’t a Kookaburra?

Yes. I have plenty of trees and kookaburras. We have plenty of cockatoos they play in many trees here.

It is walking dead.

Feather disease (PBFD) is lethal, there is no currently developed cure.

Basically asking someone to dump money into something with rabies or some other incurable ailment.

What's wrong with a "Rabies Memorial Celebrity Rabies Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race for the Cure"? I hope you're not suggesting it was in vain. That was held to help someone very special who was hit by my car. Not that special.

Right state, wrong show!

What a mashup those 2 shows would've been. Like family guy meets the Simpsons, but like a thousand times better.

They probably mean put it out of its misery

One of the parrot subs had a lovebird that had this or a disease similar. They even found a parrot friend with the same disease so they weren't lonely.

Well shoot it then

Not 100%, but I am pretty sure that shooting parrots is super illegal.

If it's an Australian Cockatoo (which it definitely looks like) then it's perfectly legal to shoot it. Those things are everywhere. And I don't think they count as parrots

Survive?

In all seriousness it has a weakened immune system, has a 6-12 month life expectancy with no cure

Another Redditor on a different thread said the disease affects the keratin in the feathers and beak, resulting in the beak growing excessively and feathers falling out

Sounds like a variant of crystal merh infection

Maybe it eats out of the side of its mouth instead of directly. It might be able to get some lift off because it still has wing and tail feathers but it's gotta be freezing at nightm

I mean that's still pretty good for a bird ngl

15

u/MissMessy1 2d ago

You’re joking , right? Some birds can live 80 years or longer.

-5

u/Even_Discount_9655 2d ago

Yeah but look at him, you'd think he'd only be living a couple months
