I just made a post about the gulf of America poster, it's really weird lol. I get displaying it when he first renamed it and made the announcement but it always seems to be there now, like he just enjoys looking at it.

One of his greatest accomplishments he probably thinks.

For sure! Nevermind the fact that two continents are named America. He's probably not aware.

No one tell him DC stands for District of Columbia. He'll probably need to rename it District of America.

so pathetic, this accomplishment is already forgotten and ignored by most americans, and will be reversed within the first few days of the next time we get an adult president, which admittedly may be awhile

I'd bet that, just like "of" in a sentence like "that's the house of the smiths" means ownership, "Gulf of Mexico"/"Gulf of America" implies ownership as well.

And going by that interpretation, I'd argue he thinks he actually "took" it from Mexico.

It'd also fit this pattern of him wanting to do something stupid, and someone convincing him of something slightly less stupid (nuke iran -> mother of all bombs on iran, constitution in oval office -> historic copy of constitution in oval office, etc)

It’s the sort of thing Trump personally thinks is super important and will be a defining part of his legacy.

Most likely, it’ll go back to being called the Gulf of Mexico after he’s out of office.
